I would like to test if ListBox1 is empty then test again until ListBox1 is NOT empty If ListBox1 is NOT empty then msgBox �You did it� and start over again, until i click a stop button
The problem is that when I start my program the listBox is ALWAYS empty and after 1-4 sec data will arrive in listBox1, but my loop (for testing if listBox1 is empty) is freezing up the application, because it�s always true and just looping infinity
I have a custom class Y which includes a public property X as list(of string) which won't always have data
In my code I am trying to do the following dim x as list(of string) = Y.X if not x.count=0 then do somthing
The problem is that when Y.X has never been set, it causes an error. What would the proper way to check for
Y.X be? I haven't really worked with lists too much.

I have a stored procedure (SQL Server Express) that returns a count of records:
SELECT COUNT(AdminUserID) AS CountEm
FROM Licenses
WHERE (AdminUserID = @AdminUserID);
Table "Licenses" has a field "CompanyID" which is a uniqueidentifier.
I need to add a clause to the WHERE to exclude records from the count where "CompanyID" is null/empty.
In VB code I'd do this with "If Not (TheCompanyID.Equals(Guid.Empty)) Then"
How would I do this in a stored procedure?

I have a combo box and use the SelectedIndexChanged event. I noticed when I assign a value to the combo box that this event fires even though the user does not click on the control. Can you tell me how to test for when the user clicks on it and actually selects a value from it?

Problem is just, the game client has 4 buttons, New Account, Play Game, About and Credits, i want to get a way for the VB program to set focus to the program(bring it to front, and then move the mouse to the coordinates of the play game button, goto coordinates of the username text box, click and write the username, same for password and then move to login button coordinates and click logon, wait a sec or two and move to either character 1, 2, 3's login button and click)

I started editing an existing code (basicaly to learn vb) without any real previous experience. Well let's get to the point;I have a form that gathers data from db ordering by user ID (on click count).I have one DataGridView with a list of user,some have data in db, some have not. I'm having an issue with the startup of my build app with vb2010.Let me explain what the situation is at the moment.
I have a form and a splashscreen. I use the application events (startup event) to check if there is a network connection, if so the splashscreen will run and it will check if the database is available, if this is the case, it will copy the online database to the local ms access database.If the startup check of the network is false, it the user gets a message that there isn't any network available and the program will try to run normal, then when the user clicks the ok button of that message, it will check if the local database has any records. If so the splashscreen will run and the program starts normal (without copy the database, because there isn't any network available).The issue that I am having is, that when there isn't a network connection and the local database is empty, (I do get the message that the local database is empty), but the program still runs, while it should exit.Here is the code of the application event:

Probably a dumb question, but can you write a unit test project in one language to test against another project in a different language?I'd like to translate one of our VB assemblies into C#, but want to build unit tests to verify the results. It binds to an in-memory Datatable which gets loaded from an string array of data passed back from the backend Some of the rows returned have nulls for the date columns. Solution 1: If I define the Date column in the DataTable as "string" I can easily convert those nulls to empty strings and display it in the grid as empty strings (desired results). However, if the user clicks on the date column header to sort by date, it doesn't order the rows as you want. You get a purely string sort order. Not acceptable

View 17 RepliesSo I have two ListBoxes. Listbox1 gathers files from a directory and I have an add button to add selected files from Listbox1 over to Listbox2.
Is there a way to manually sort these items? Maybe with an up down buttons?
The reason I'd like to sort/reorder is I'll have a process that will run those selected files and each file will have to produce another file unique to the filename.
A quick example would be process FILE1.txt and produce FILE1.pdf, etc.
Is there an easier way to accomplish the sort/reorder?
