what is code i should use if i want to prevent user not to leave empty word in text box after user click save button. i am using visual studio 2005, database sql 2005.
I am trying to prevent the User from proceeding if a specific text box is empty. All of the following lines of code SEEM TO work:
If txtTitle.text = "" Then..... If txtTitle.Text = Nothing Then..... If txtTitle.text = Nothing Then..... (followed by a message box advising of the need for input)
The problem is, if the User enters a space (either accidentally or intentionally) all three of the above recognize the space as a valid entry.
what is code that prevent user to given number less than 8 in the text box. If the user give less then 8 number then message box box will appear which show Minimum Number is 8. Here is my code
Private Sub btnregister_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnregister.Click If TELEPHONETextBox.Text.Trim.Length = 0 Then MsgBox("Please Enter Phone Number", MsgBoxStyle.Question) Me.TELEPHONETextBox.Focus()
I have read through some of the other posts and I think what I want to do is slightly different. I have a combo box in VB ExpEd2010 that I want to allow the user to only select from the drop down list. However, I want to be able to set the value in the combo box to something that is not in the list. So the drop down list will have values 1, 2, 3 but I want to be able to write to the same combo box a value of 2.4, 1.2, etc.
I have a question about how to validate a text box with only word inside. Below is my code i use, it's only can detect if number 1 to 9 in single number, but not 11 or 999 or Joanne11 Joa223nne etc. I want it can detect the text box have and number or symbol then will show an error messageBox, else continue.
I am building a search engine in vb.net which would have to search for a word entered by the user in 40 text files within the project directory. It should return the results as the total number of matches (text files) and the number of times this word is in each file.
I'm programming something and I have it set to where if you leave the text box blank then a message box comes up and tells you to enter a value to move on to the next text box [code]Now whats currently happening is if I click the exit button and leave the name text box blank the error i programmed will come up and tell me to enter a name. I want to be able to click the exit button while no text is entered in the name text box bypassing the error message.
I've got a (hopefully) quick question. I've got textboxes attached to a binding source on one of my forms, and when I add, then clear, the data for the next entry to be added a small problem arises. If the user has previously entered something into, for example, Textbox3 and the user does not have the data for Textbox3 the user cannot move to the next field unless something is entered into the box.
I have set the datagridview.cellvalidating events. I want the user inputing in the cell and when error, the cursor cannot leave the cell when user key "TAB" or click in other where in the first time. But I find that it does not work in the first time. Until when I click the same cell in the second time, it trigger the action preventing user from leaving the cell and show the error message.
I need to pull a random word from a text file in my resource folder (visual Studio 2010) and then have a user enter a letter to see if it is in the word. Yes, Hangman game. There is more, but right now I need to pull from that text file for a start. I know what I have is not even close to right under "Get Word Button", but I'm kind of confused about the process.
Public Class hangMan Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim word As New Random End Sub
I want to have a counter that measures when a mouse enters/leaves a form. To that extent I used the .mouseenter/.mouseleave commands. This works to an extent. The problem is that moving the mouse over any controls inside a form count as existing it- I don't want this. Is there a way to define the controls as a part of the form? Meaning- if the mouse was over one of my labels- it would count as being within the form. A less elegant way to measure form access could be to use the form positioning, and define capture any mouse movement within it.
I am having a problem where I am on a text box and try to click a button that will bring up some reports. Since my cursor is still on the text box it doesn't go through the "Leave" and so what I entered into the text box is not saved (this happens in "Leave"). I have read previously not to use "Lost Focus" because it causes problems when you leave the form it triggers the "Lost Focus" on on the fields and just in general to use "Leave" rather than "Lost Focus". Is there a way to force my way through the "Leave"? I also don't know which field my cursor could be on (there are probably 20 text box or combo box fields on this form.
The leave event fires twice in this example. Tab order for the form controls is set to combobox1, button1, button3 Private Sub ComboBox1_Leave(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.Leave
[Code]...
if I enter 'A' in the combobox1 then combobox1 leave event will fire twice any other entry is Ok since the next control to get focus is button2 (in the normal tab order). It seems that if I try to skip the next control (based on the tab order set for the form), the leave event fires twice.
I need to find a Windows forms Text edit which can handle MS Word documents correctly. That is documents with Images, textboxes etc (.doc, .docx).I have tried Devexpress Xtrarichedit and TXText Control but when you load a MS Word Document (.doc, .docx) the document does not appear as it does in MS Word. That is Textboxes overlapping images are misaligned or have no transparent background option, so the white background of the textbox hides part ot the image.Has anybody had experience with 3rd party Document .net editors which mamage MS Word Documents correctly?
All i want to do is write some text into word... some of the text is normal text the other is bold... how do I achieve this? The samples I have seen, they either do normal text or bold.. but in different lines utilising InsertParagraphAfter()I need to have both in the one lineie how do i do the following line? using vb.net and word automation (word 2010)
I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:
[Code]...
How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?
I have a datagrid that will be accepting data from an external measuring device via the serial port. The grid is also open to editing records as well. Part of the process of making this grid user friendly is to intercept the "enter" key and move to the next cell until there is a value in the cell. This is only for some cells, other cells can be blank. I have worked out how to intercept the "enter" key from another post on this forum. Here is the code:
I have a TextBox control being used to capture an IPAddress from the user.I want to be able to allow them to change that IPAddres at which point the new value will be utilized by the appropriate .NET socket class to ping that new address. What other event is used with TextChanged to indicate that the user is done making changes to the TextBox. The Leave Event?
I can search for the word Love in an .rtf file and return every occurance of the word into a RichTextBox. It returns the word and the scripture the word is in, but it also isreturning a bunch of weird text like: archan78988yykp etc etc. How do I onlyreturn the scripture with the searchedword, in this case the searched word is love. The code I am using is as follows:
< If Line.Contains(Me.rtbSearch.Text) Then 'show search form
I'm writing a program on CD Collection. My problem is write a code that prevents a user to enter a CD collection name that is already stored in the filename.txt.
The rest of my program is okay, but the only problem is something do with btnAdd control.
Here's my whole program:
Option Explicit On Option Strict On Option Infer Off
I am writing an application that needs to be running all the time and I don't want the user to be able to close it. I don't want to hide the process from Task Manager. All I need is that when the user tries to terminate the process, he has to enter a password.
Because I want the user to have a full screen application that they cannot close without using my Exit menu. The problem is, they can simply grab the title bar of the form and drag it, exposing the desktop!
