I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 professional edition and I was wondering how to put files with a certain extension such as .txt from the applications current directory into a combo box in the application itself.
I have no idea how to do this or even if it's possible.Actually if no one knows I would like to ask how to get a button to open up one of those file browsers to look for a certain file and then assign a variable to the path of the file selected.

I'm trying to compare the modify date of a file vs the current system date. I've found an MSDN article describing how to get the modify time of a file:

This gest the Date and Time, but I want just the Date not the time.

I have an output file that I need to pull the current date in as a 'default' for the user. I know I can set the text over in the Properties Window, but how do I include a variable that changes based on the system date? For example, if I created the file today it would be:

I know how to format dates, I'm just not sure how or where to enter the code. Should I double click the SaveFileDialog and code it there? If so, how do I specify that I want the FileName = SystemDate? I'm not sure how to specify that I want to change the FileName property.
My current program is reading a XML doc and using it then moving it to a different directory to be archived once it is finished using the xml.
I want to be able (upon completion) move and rename the file to a new folder, I want the folder to be the current date/time as well.

View 1 RepliesI wrote a cleanup program to go through some directories and delete files based on if the creation date is older than say 6 months. It works fine with some of the directories I have that contain around a few thousand small files. However, there is one directory (that contains small backup files from another program) that is loaded with over 300,000 files and it locks up on me as soon as I read in the first file in that directory.I am convinced it is the directory has too many files in it to open it. The server that the directory is on is slow. It takes a half hour to open the directory while on the server itself.
