So I must comment them and uncomment them many times during the process of development. please note that those codes are located in many locations and many VB files within my project.
Can I do this in a conveninent way, just clicking a button, or just defining a const or "#define something", something like that?
I'm new to programming and to Windows Forms development. I'm using VB.NET and Visual Studio 2008.
My question is: How do I open Notepad from a Windows Forms application, and then place some text string in the Notepad window?
I am having hard time determining how to get 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place determined by time. I was thinking about bubble sort through an array, but since I am determining lowest to highest based on numbers = runner it just sounds more confusing. The code to determine second is not that efficient, I know there is an easier way. That is the part where I am stuck.

I am currently working on a small vb.net project which consists of several windows. These windows consist of buttons and so on and if I click on one of these buttons, another window opens up and the previous window just closes up or hides itself.
The problem is as follows; when the new window opens up, it goes to another place (coordinate) on the screen(though its just a slight displacement).
hat can I do to make all the windows open at the same place??
I'm having some problems with placing the date and time (e.g., 11/3/2011 10:13 AM) into a text box as I tried several things. The above date time format shows in properties as the value but when I try using it, the textbox shows "11/3/2011 12:00:00 AM). Any way to assign the date and time to a text box?
View 3 RepliesI've got a project that generates a sql query and returns the results. I want to place a time/counter on the form that shows how long it takes to return the query from the server. Basically to count up in seconds from 0 while that sub is executing. Would threading be the best way to do this or is there another way that I'm missing?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to complete a time program for a class that I am currently taking in which it's supposed to utilize a Tick Method. Essentially, the Tick should be incrementing the time by one second. The problem is that I don't know where to place it. The book I have doesn't go much into this, just the code. I have also placed the timer in the Designer, set enable to True and set the interval to 1000 milliseconds. This is the code I found for the Tick Method

I looked at "How do I place an image with a mouse-click in Javascript?" but it had a small snippet of Java; immensely larger than my knowledge of Java. And that is the closest I've come to finding an answer in the past week. Here's what I would like to do (don't know if its even possible):
I have a panel and a toolstrip with 3 buttons. Each button represents a different image. I want to click on a button (once) and then move into the panel and everytime I click the mouse button it drops the image where ever I clicked. This only ends when either I click back on the same button or one of the other buttons. I do not want to drag an image into the panel each time. In other words the button stays depressed and the event/action stays active.
I am having a problem with a program I made. Its an application for placing points on an image. It has a picture box inside a panel so the image can be scrolled. The problem is that depending where the point is placed, the point drawn is shifted.

I am wondering where should I store my error messages. These messages are the simplified version meant for the users. I am thinking like centralizing a specific location to store all the custom messages so that it will be easier to reference in the future. The location should also provide a key for each stored message.

I have a custom user control that I created that has special features on click. I am making a simple program. I have a String with 15 places that I would like to split into 3 pieces: (First 3 digits), (next 3 digits), (remaining 9 digits).

This works perfectly, but every first time the app start and I open the second form, on my primary screen (right side) I see the border of the second form. When I click the button again, the form is hidden, and when I click it again, it appears again but then the border is gone.

Here's an example:Someone wants baseball stats and trivia. They run my program, main form pops up, they select National League button, the NL Form pops up. Now the way my program is set up right now, is there are two ListBoxes on the form, one is populated, and as the user selects a Team from ListBox1, it jumps to ListBox2. Once they've selected all the teams they want info for, they click a button Next.
What I now need the program to do is show the next form "Team: name" once for each team, and insert the name of the team on the form in the appropriate label which I'll have blank. This form will also do the Listbox thing except the first listbox will populated with Topics like HR Stats, Pitching Stats, Coach History, etc.

Like I imagine everyone, I often have problems navigating my code because the flow can jump from place to place. For example, if my code calls routine1, and I then want to go to routine1's code, I know that I can click in the dropdown menu and it will take me to that sub. But wouldn't it be easier if I could somehow right click on the call to routine way and select something like 'take me there' which would transport me from the function making the call to the code for the function being called? Then it would be easy to hop from place to place.
View 1 RepliesI have two forms frmMain and frmNew, and one module modMain. In modMain I hold public variables which are needed for application. My question is how to open and close those two forms when needed? I ask this because if i set frmMain as startup form, then when closed, application will end, and one of those two forms will always be displayed. Also if I set frmNew as startup form, then when I close this form, application will also end. Is there a way to do this from module or something so my application won't end after closing and opening any of those two forms?
