I have a DGV that is getting created on loadup, getting the results from a SP. So in this case, I have a DGV that is not bound to anything. It only get bound to a datasource at runtime.I have specific values that I'm looking for. See code
If e.Value.ToString = "HU-3" Then
e.CellStyle.BackColor = Color.Chartreuse
e.CellStyle.ForeColor = Color.White

i have a chart of images.. and i want to load individual images into picturebox from that chart..chart = big image, eg alphabet chart. (yes i am creating a game for my small nephew.. pictures and alphabet) now, i want to show different pieces of images into picture box. like the A box, b Box etc one option is to cut the chart into pieces, save each piece with different filename and load individual filename into picturebox.but i saw somewhere that we can use pixel location to load images into picturebox..as i recall it required two pixel location, 1 was upper left and other was lower right.. and passing that pixel locations would load the rectangular image between those pixel locations into picturebox?

I'm having some issues with the suppression of the typical javascript and other scripting errors that show in the webbrowser.I have three webbrowsers. The third webbrowser goes out and determines some action based upon location. The one thing I'm having trouble with is this example. It states that it should work but the errors keep on coming.I attached some of the code below. Am I doing something wrong?

I am just for learning purposes trying to develop a one player text based game.
I have a rich text box (GameWindow)
I have a text box (InputWindow)
I have a button (InputButton)
and a bunch of labels that aren't really important
I have two questions first is easy probably. How do i get InputWindow to respond to me hitting enter when text is in it?
[Code]...
But if i plan to have more that is only going to increase the size and code needed and im sure there is an easier way i just don't know how to do it.

I can't seem to get one of my functions to work based on a timer. Every tick of the timer, I'm trying to call a function which will start periodically taking screen shots until the 'Finish' button is pressed. However, I've run into numerous errors and wondered if anyone could give me any insight or suggestions. Here is what I have so far.
[Code]...
One of the errors included "Public Sub RunAC() does not have the same signature as delegate". This might be really obvious, I'm a recent Computer Programmer / Analyst graduate with intermediate VB.net experience.

In short I want a call a function jAlert() from jquery.alert.js file in a .aspx.vb page.. More details below
"When I click on "update page" the control goes to "ActionRepeaterItemBound" on code behind and then to my action.js page and this way I am able to add attributes and use them while calling my jscript function. However when I click on "Submit Update", the control first goes to action.js and then to "ProcessAction" on code behind. So I am not sure how I need to add attributes before the control goes into action.js."
I have a file jquery.alert.js which have functions like jAlert().
I have a file .aspx with part of code as below
[Code].....
My aspx.vb page has a function as below where attributes are added to control and are used in a page action.js to call the jAlert function
Protected Sub ActionRepeaterItemBound(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As RepeaterItemEventArgs)
I want a similar logic to be performed on my LinkButton "CurrentActionCommit". How can I do this?

Say I've got the following variables:
Public Shared x As String = "100"
Public Shared y As String = "text"
Public Shared z As String = "something"
[Code]....
But this doesn't do what I want, naturally. What I want is that my function giveVar returns the value of the variable that holds giveVar. For example I call giveVar("x") I want my function to return "100".
Of course this can be done by a Select Case but thats not what I like to do. Is it even possible to call a value based on a string?
[edit:]
Namespace i18n
public NotInheritable Class Settings
Public Shared LanguageCode As String
[Code]....
I think this works so far, BUT I get the following error on the CallByName(Me, varName, vbGet) at the Me : "me is only valid within an instance method"

I have done this in Php with a function before. I just don't know how to do it in VB.I have a character sheet creator for a game I am making. What I am wanting to do is write a single function, where in you click on a button and it will pass the text box name (so that it knows which text box to edit), as well as the value inside of the text box (to make sure that the new character stat ceiling is taken into account).
Private Sub Button_Click
AddtoValue(Textbox1,stats)
End Sub[code].....
Essentially, I need to know what to put for noidea, and noidea2, like, byval or byref or what?

Before I build my own and after looking for quite a while (to no avai) does any one know of a function that will return the dates of a recurrence.
For instance:
- The recurrence might be the first Monday of each month.
- The second week of each month.
So what I want is to pass the recurrence information to the function and it will return in an array all the dates that are applicable.I've looked at some other topics here but none are as comprehensive as what I need.

how to view and populate a listview with a text file. Now I come seeking wisdom on how do create an effect based upon the location where a mousedown event occured.
Here is my example. (I like to give simple examples because it helps me learn rather than be given the answer and learn nothing).
I am working in vb.net, in a windows form. I have a map of Western Europe called picturebox1.
I want another form to pop up when a user clicks on a section of picturebox1. For example: I want a "Germany" form to pop up when the user clicks on Germany. And such for if France, Spain, Italy, Austria, England, Scotland, etc...based on the location of the mousedown event.
Historically, when working with a picturebox with sections that were rectangle, I would do little screenshots and overlay them over the picturebox and use that as a cheat.
The challenge here is that the countries are polygons and now I need to learn this for real. I am looking for a little direction on where to go to learn about a mousedown event that causes an effect based upon the location of the mousedown event.
This can be a challenge because each country is of different x, y location coordinates so I image I need to create an elaborate if or case statement to capture and evalute. However, I don't know how to acquire the coordinates of a mousedown.

I am using the Process.Start function to open a program based off a registry value. It works, sort of. Here is the snip of the
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Console
Imports System.Configuration
[Code]....
The program opens with the correct registry value, but the program itself does not run quite right. This program feeds into Intergraph and brings up the selected drawing, but there is a feature of intergraph that doesn't work. If I manually start ( double click ) pdsicon.exe the program works just fine. It only when I call the process that it doesn't work quite right.

I have 2 group box components and both are same size,font,location and visible is false. When i click button2, the groupbox1 won't appear(the group box2 is on bottom n group box1 is on top).
Example:
button1
groupbox1.visible=false
groupbox2.visible=true
button2
groupbox1.visible=true
groupbox2.visible=false
Because i want to show the different,so the location have a little different(actually both are same location). I think my code is no problem. The problem i guess is both component cannot locate at same location?

we have a user that my program works fine for.. and another that it just crashes for.. they get this error
"You cannot start application <App_Name> from this location because it is already installed from a different location."
then they run it up again and it comes up.. and then just closes..in reading some stuff online it says its a framework 2.0 sp 1 issue ?these pc's have 3.5, but my program uses all 2.0 stuff..so is this a 2.0 sp level issue ? or should I make my programs start to use framework 3.0 instead ?

I was using this old method of creating a bunch of rectangles when I need to get the location of a certain point within a grid so I could draw images on the grid. The thing is, I don't want to use rectangles, I want to be able to just round the location as if I were using rectangles. I need it to be able to round the point (66,70) to (50,50) so if you can imagine a grid and the mouse position being within that square in the grid, I need to get the location of the upper left corner of that square.

I have encounterd a problem when trying to re-enstall a program i have writen in vb 2008.I get the following message:"You cannot start application Shell from this location because it is already installed from a different location."This program is to be used on many workstation computers and i need to be able to update any changes by just reinstalling the program, no uninstalling needed first. If the program was installed from a cd first and needs to be updated from a flash disk this error will be a problem, if the update is from a cd as well then there is no problem.Is there a way to change the installation package to ignore where the program installs from and just update itself?
