Get More Detail Of First Chance Exceptions?

Is there a way to configure the debugger or write code in such a way as to get more information when first chance exceptions happen? I understand they are generally not harmful and I do quite a bit of exception handling in code but when I'm doing database operations it's to know when first chance exceptions occur. Of course I can see them in the Immediate Window in VS but I would like a full stack trace, not ust a line saying "A first chance exception..."

When an exception is thrown in my app, I expect the debugger to stop running and enter debugging mode, but it does not. Instead, I just get a message in the Immediate Window ('A first chance exception ...'), and the program keeps on running like if nothing happened. However, the sub (in which the exception was thrown) is exited, so statements after the exception are not executed. Since this sub makes the initialization of my program, running becomes very unstable.How can I tell the debugger to stop execution when an exception is thrown? On the 'Advenced compile options' page I don't have 'Target CPU'. Maybe it's that I have only VB Express?If I tick the 'Thrown' checkbox in Debug > Exceptions, execution stops even if I have a catch for that exception, and I don't want that.Until now I used VB 2008 on 32 bit, and everything worked fine, but since I moved to 2010 64 bit I just can't get it right.

I use a simple master-detail form using Visual basic 2005 express edition and ms sql server 2005 express edition, as well.
The master table is dept (deptno int, dname nvarchar(50)) .
The deail table is emp (empno int, deptno int, ename nvarchar(50)).
The primary key for the dept table is deptno and for the emp table is empno.
There is also a foreign key (deptno on emp table).
I created a new project, connected to a db (called test.mdf) and created a data source consisting the two of the above reffered tables.
I dragged and dropped these tables on the form and i noticed the following:
1)When the form opens... the system queries the database and displays the data on each block on the form.
2)I insert and/or update a record on the master table (dept) and everything goes well...
3)I try to insert and/or update a record on the detail table (emp) and nothing is changed on the detail table - without any error.
4)When i try to insert and/or update a record on the detail table (emp) which violates the primary key constraint or foreign key the system complaints...(as expected).

I have made several posts on here lately regarding master/detail or parent/child data setups but no one has been able to help. It seems like a subject people don't like to tackle BUT I really need help.
I'm having a real hard with the DataView.RowFilter functionality and it is driving me insane.
For the most part, I have the basic master/detail functionality working. When you select a record in the first grid, it shows the correct data in the second grid. When you enter a record in the first grid, you can enter related data in the second grid. I accomplish this by using a dataview and row filter bound to the 2nd grid. When you change the record in the first grid, the rowfilter for the 2nd grid is restated and reapplied.
The problem arises when I overwrite the primary field value in the first grid and the detail records become orphaned. You would think all I have to do is change the ID in the 2nd grid to match the new ID in the 1st grid but this is where I am having problems. I wrote a loop to change the ID of each record currently loaded in the 2nd grid to match the newly changed ID in the first grid. The code is here:

I have used this code before and it works great. It has to step backwards through the grid because when the ID's are changed, they no longer match the RowFilter criteria and they disappear from the grid. They still exist in the dataset. The problem is, while the code "works" the intended effect does not. Some of the records completely disappear from the dataset and do not reload when I restate the row filter against the new ID number.

There are a lot of master/detail databinding examples with detail form on the same window than the master, I can't find any example where detail is in a new window.

I've just skipped around a few inbuilt VB classes' methods which throws exception. of all that i've came across, methods may throw multiple exceptions but ALL of them are exclusive, meaning there is no way 2 exceptions will ever occur simultaneously, yea and i was trying to make my class throw 2 exceptions simultaneously, hence this question, must all exceptions be exclusive?

I have a dataset containing 2 tables,Customers and Contacts. Just showing the master-detail is not a problem. Problem occurs when I try to search the master table to bring in the detail table. Searching the master table shows only the master record, but not the related detail records. Adding a 'findby' query on the detail table only shows the records.url.. Normally when the master table is filled, the detail record shows in a form.

i finished a project ive been working on for weeks or well i thought i had finished it.. in VS debug environment it runs fine doing its logics for hours without a problem but after publishing it as a standalone it starts throwing errors pretty soon. Took another look at whats going on in VS debug and the only thing that stands out is "A first chance exception of type 'System.OverflowException' occured.." that pops up every now and then so i think this is whats crashing my program outside vs. This poses 2 problems a) the code is around 2k lines/3 classes and heavily multithreaded and i have no clue where exactly this error gets generated, b) from my previous encounters with first chance exceptions they seem like more "possibility for error" instead of an actual error itself and very hard to track down

I have several ActiveX controls in my project one of them loads solidmodeling files for viewing. Because this process can take some time the authors provided an OnFinishedLoadingDocument event.This worked fine under VB6.Now however under VB.NET 2008 framework 3.5 I get an exception thrown When I try to access a form control from this event.

Multi-Threading. I have got a simple bit of code that will need to be repeated but with a chance of it overlapping the only complex bit is there will be a varible that will be different each time. so I was wondering if I put it in another Thread and store the varible within the thread code would that achieve what I am looking for? To make it slightly easyier once the thread is started and pulled the Varible in there will be no cross talking between the thread and main app thread (ie no progress reports, no aborts/suspends etc) Nothing will be feeding back on thread completion either, when it ends it ends.

I am working with a datagridview. Is there any chance a column is set to be a textbox initially but for example I want the top item to be a combobox??? This should enabled the user to select something of the list but also load in what was selected and saved before... So for example I have a column called Product Name and it has 5 rows 4 of them should appear as textboxes but one top cell should appear as combobox

The application is written using VB in VS 2008 with .NET 3.5 I have a table in SQL Server that represents Invoices and in the table is a field named "Paid" which is define as CHAR 1 with values of "Y" or "N". Nulls are not allowed.I have two Bound Windows forms to manage the Invoice data, one with a DataGridView and the other a Detail Form. Both use the CheckBox control for the Paid field.
In the DataGridView I can define values for the TrueValue and FalseValue and the Database is updated correctly.I can not find anything like this for the CheckBox control on the detail form.Am I missing something? It seems like if it is one it would be in the other for the same control.handle a CheckBox on a Detail form? CheckedChanged?, NewClass for the CheckBox (which I have not done before)? Other?

I am working on a project where I need display a list of items in a combobox and then display the details for each item in some textboxes.For example.I have a medications table,
ID (uniqueid), Name (varchar), Prescribed(bit), Usage(varchar), StartedTaking(datetime), HowTaken(varchar)

I'm trying to add a new record in the DataSet in the master table. I'm not including a value in the unique ID field because it is added automatically by the server.
