What i want to do, is to get my console application to read from a .txt file (with one word per line), and randomly select a line from that file and declare it as chosenword. However, i am not sure what i must do to do that.

I have VB.net console application. I would like to read the (ConnectionString) from a web.config.
Web.config is located at a particular path in my virtual PC, say "C:/mywebConfig"

Whenever I try to access it, i get the error not set to an instance of an object or something like that :)
I tried to add the web.config in my Project, but still get the error.

Basically I want to use PSEXEC through a vb.net GUI application and I would like to be able to read any error codes that may occur from the command line.
I was wondering it's it possible to read all the text being displayed from a console/terminal/cmd application (What ever you want to call it).
I would then want to echo that text in a text box.
How to create a console application which would read input from user and assign the input to a variable? The problem is, I need to enter several words on one line separated with blank spaces like "ab cd efg" and then assign ab to one variable, cd to another variable and efg to another variable. this works fine to trap out numbers from letters but the problem i am getting is when the program calls uppon LastName it is recording 0 and wanted to know if there is a way of getting past this ..... so basically i need a way to allow letter but not numbers and symbols and then dispay a pernolised error message but at the same time use Stream writer to save was the answer is in a .txt file.
I am currently working on an application, where I am using a console application, that will set up the application prior to the main form is run. This is no problem I've got that all working perfectly, the only problem I have is that the console is showing while the application is running, I was wondering whether anyone knows any way in which I would be able to hide the console before it gets shown to the user.

I have all of the code written but when I run the program it pops up the console window and then immediatley exits so I am unable to read what is in the window to see if my program is operating correctly. What I'm really doing is trying to do a matrix effect on my form background, by drawing symbols and moving them, alternating their colors (see this video for what I mean).

I have seen countless examples of reading standard output from command line applications which print text to the screen and one can read that back into the application as a string. I want to read the binary data back that is written to standard output from something such as image magick's convert program. What is coming back is an image, not a text result or error code. Is this possible? I have been looking for ages but found nothing that makes sense.

However, xmlFilePath shows up as Nothing after that line of code is run.
What's the correct code to get a setting out of the web.config file in an ASP.NET application?
NOTE: Although you can add keys individually to the <appsettings> tag, I'm trying to figure out how to use it with the "Settings" tab in the project's properties.
