View 2 RepliesReading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
I am writing a Windows Form program to automatically download and store generated PDF reports from a web site using the WebBrowser Control. The web site uses Ajax to link an icon back to the source aspx file which then returns a PDF file.
The problem I have is that the WebBrowser control brings up the File Save As dialog box when the PDF file is returned and I can find no way of handling this to cature and save the returned file. I have found other examples of how to manage this using the Navagating event to validate the extension of the file that is being accessed (e.g. [URL] and, if not an HTM, file then use the HTTP Web control to directly download the file. Unfortunately this will not work as the call references a .aspx page.
I have looked almost everywhere on the internet and I cannot find a way to download a file from the internet into a specific folder that works with VB.NET 2010. I would like to download a file called, for instance, example.txt, and download it into, for example, %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup so that it will run automatically at system startup.

View 2 RepliesI have an account with a website and I want my software to automatically download files that are generated.
I go to the website and login, and then I click a link that downloads a file. Unfortunately, I can't use the My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile function, because the first argument of that function is a file address (http:// www . website . html/file.txt). Instead of that, the address if I look at the link to download the file is something like this (http:// www . website . com/pid=1&output=csv&action=view&pview=pview).
You see how this won't work? I'm looking to use my software to automatically download the file that's available, but I can't use the DownloadFile function.

View 3 RepliesIm writing a program to download a file from a official website every Sunday. The adress of this site keeps changing. Does anyone know how I can link to this address?
[URL]
I've highlighted the part of the adress that changes. As you can see, it's a date, but not nessesarily the current date. It could be yesterday, or the day before. I've tried something like this:
Dim link
link = "http:www.fiskeridir.no/content/download/4641/30774/version/254/file/Register-internett-*.xlsx"
This doesn't work.
was wondering about making a download program cant seem to find much on ie a download manager or something like flashget could someone point me in the right direction

I wrote a program to download and play AVI files the files are large in size and long time wise. I have the files playing as they are being downloaded but i can't see how long the file is or seek reliably. i was reading that the AVI headers are in the last 512kb of the AVI file *why would't they put it at the start* lol so my question is is there a way to download the last 512Kb of the file i'm downloading. i have the Bytes Read and Length of the file while its downlaoding i'm just not sure where to go from there, or how to do it atleast. If i had the length in time of the Avi file i could set the trackbar to be able to seek properly. or if someone has an idea how i could get the time of the video by using fps and some math i could prob do it that way too but idk how i would tell how i can find how many kb are in the fps i'm sure it changes so think that way is't going to be reliable. how to get the last 512kb would be the best option not sure if it can be done even.
View 4 RepliesI want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)

I am very very new to VB.NET and would like to ask a simple question. I want to create a vb.net program and allow visitors to a website to download this program. However, I prefer not to have visitors download a zip folder. I would like to have a program that just gives a prompt to save in a selected folder, once the saved file is selected it prompts the person to download, and then when finished prompts the person to run the program. The reason is twofold:
1. I don't like the extra step involved with unzipping the file. and 2. I don't like the visitors having to look for the "main" file program within the new downloaded folder. So is there any way to have just one file for others to download without having it in a zip folder?
I have created a application in vb.net. I am using Web Browser control in it.With this Web Browser control I open an URL and tries to Download something, it will populates an dialog for "File Download" to Open/Save/Cancel for the file..I am downloading the .ZIP file, and it will not show the checkbox for Automatically Do.Is there any way to perform the Download operation at the backend, means it will not ask me for such options.

View 2 RepliesI need Microsoft Visual Studio: Installer 1.1, where can I download it and why doesn't Microsoft still have it I know someone in IT has it. Then if it can't be downloaded from Microsoft why does this site [url]... still list it as being available for download. Doesn't anyone at Microsoft archive their old software just for the purpose of still having it around. If Bill Gates only knew what Microsoft has become since he drop out the scene he would be disgusted.
