GetShortPathName Not Working On New 64-bit Server?

I have established code that calls GetShortPathName to convert, say, "r: estlongname" to "r: estlo~1". It works fine with our old server, and at various user sites. We've just got a new 64-bit server and the code no longer works, ie it does nothing so my program carries on trying to use the long name (later on in the code this causes problems because it's trying to write a batch file to perform an unzip & other functions). Any ideas why GetShortPathName isn't working? We're a small software company with no specialised network admin.

I am working on an application that pulls a field from a SQL Server table that has numeric values separated by commas, for example (1, 3, 4, 6). I need to load this field and somehow load it into a numeric array. However, I can't seem to come up with a good solution. Here is what I have tried:

I have a query that is working fine on my local but when placed on the server it comes back with this error,

This desktop app written in VB.Net within VStudio 2008 fails when one of our "power users" tries to run the program: Select permission denied on object 'AcctLogon', database 'MDS', owner 'dbo'. The author of the app is out for a few weeks and I am the "fixer" while she's out. Both of our logins for SQL have permissions for db_owner in the MDS database but our user does not. The user has a Windows user login for this instance of SQL. This login has permissions for the public role only in the MDS database.

If you try to access a password protected page it does a security check and redirects you if you are not logged in, retaining the URL (ie. Anyway, I wrote a view with a union query in SQL Server that grabs data from a linked SQL server.
Anytime I try to add this object as a dataset in VB.NET it completely bombs out on me with this ugly error message...

I am having a hard time figuring this out. It's about ExecuteNonQuery() method and sql server database. I done several testing and still getting the desired result which is data captured from application window and saved into sql server database table.
Some results i gotten from my testing:Query - Senario 1:From application window, data was captured into variable memory but didnt save into database and end up with blank database. (Tested many rounds still end up in this senario)Senario 2:Used the command console in the data explorer frame, with the insert query along with required value, an entry was made. (Test a couple of rounds and i know it worked)

I have a code that binds the data from the database to textboxes. The problem is I want to make one of the textboxes Payment use a dollar sign.I tried formatting it as shown in the code below but only the first record gets formatted, the rest do not. When I click the next button, the dollar sign disappeared.
Here is a portion of the code:

I have been trying to get a test 'developer use' authenticode certificate working on our server. We dont really want to pay for one until we have tested internally so we are using a test cert generated by tech-pro. So far i have:
- Installed certificate services sucessfully.
- Created a test certificate using tech-pro codesign.
- used signtool.exe wizard to sign the application.
- imported the test certifcate as a server root certificate.
All appears to have gone ok and without error but when i run the exe on a virtual VISTA machine logged onto the domain the program still prompts for the administrator to logon to elevate its priviliges. Is there another step im missing that requires me to specifically register the certificate directly on the virtual machine too? Or something else i need to do on the server to make that certificate valid for our domain?

Well after lots of research i have managed to get a working Shoutcast Server that will allow you to run and stream music to winamp locally or over the net. I'm trying to get a VB2008 multi thread application working that connects to a local server program using sockets. Server requests for this particular system can be more quickly handled by a number of connections, so I've written some code to run any number of data request threads that I choose. The problem that I'm having is that the data returned from the server is getting mixed up and is often returned to a different thread/socket than the one that requested it. Other than that, it seems to work okay. If I use just one thread, then the system works as it should. Pls. see incuded code, which is heavily edited to remove all the other fruit salad. Is there any way to set up the sockets so that data returned to the socket/thread that requested it?

I wrote a soap service in PHP using nusoap. It works fine with the test client I wrote in PHP, however, our customer wrote his client in vb.net and it is not working. There are no errors that I see, but the service is not parsing his requests properly.
I am letting nusoap generate the WSDL, and it looks fine. If I compare a message that I send in to one of his messages, I do see a few differences in the envelope, but I'm not sure if the problem is on my end or his.

It appears that my favorite thing in the world is tackling projects that are beyond my current knowledge and abilities. I have a little project that I am working on which is a simple image viewer stocked with (upon completion) your standard Load..., Next/Previous, Zoom In/Out, Actual Size, and Full Screen capabilities. However, I am running into a few snags:
(1) I've been able to get my "Load..." button to display a file dialog box, but I cannot seem to get a working filter (with which only image file types are allowed to be selected) in working order.
(2) I have a PictureBox object (entitled PictureBox1) that displays the image selected via the file dialog box, but it loads images in their full size (1:1/100% zoomed) state without scrollbars, etc. to allow me to navigate the loaded image. I would like to have it load the image, initially, to fit within the dimensions of PictureBox1 and from there be able to zoom in/out via my "Zoom In/Out" and "Actual Size" buttons and be able to scroll if the zoom level is beyond the dimensions of PictureBox1.
(3) It dawned on me that I haven't the faintest idea how to get my "Next/Previous" buttons to allow the user (me) to navigate, in succession, the images contained in the folder in which the currently loaded image is stored. [code]

I have an application I have developed which works great on individual PC's. However I've had some interest from a few customers that asked if I have a network version for site licencing.If my app did not save any data or write any reg entries, this might have been ok. But it does to the local computer. I also built in my own copy protection and trial function that stores data in the registry on the local computer.What would I need to do to enable my application to run on a server/network share, so that the only a serial number needed is for the server?

I have a server which has around 300+ users on it. Though the problem is that its coded in VB6, and if somebody has a bad ping, everybody has a bad ping. I need a tunneling server which will tunnel the incoming and outgoing connections and make there ping appear to be 0 in the server. Client to Server, Server to Client.
