Getting Time Segments Of A Timeline?

Mar 30, 2012

I'm creating a timeline (Availability report) report of appointments in my system. It could show multiple user as this pic shows. I have setup my report to look like:for Each 1/4 time segment there is a related db field. In the report I set the color of the time segments based on these db fields. My Issue is that I need to determine which time segments need to be set, based on a start and end times. This calculation will only be working with one days worth of time (6am-9pm). I've currently setup a array of Boolean values to represent each time segment. I pass that array to the "add to db function".

My problem is figuring out what is the best way to do this calculation. For example, If I have an appointment starting at 9:15am and ends at 10:30am. I'd need to set the following segments

9:15, 9:30, 9:45, 10, 10:15 and 10:30

Building A Timeline Using Business Days?

Sep 17, 2009

I am writing a program that takes a shipdate and generates a timeline of deadlines for a manufacturing job by working backwards from the shipdate. I hav no problem handling weekends. However, some holidays are giving me problems. For holidays that don't have a set date (Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day...) what is the best way to determine the date they fall on? Most of the examples I have seen use an array of dates (either from a file or hard coded) for these holidays. Is there a way to do this tha won't require someon to generate a list every year for these holidays?

JQuery - PlaceHolder Segments Of IDs

Apr 8, 2011

I have a particular link that I'm trying to convert to an ASP:LinkButton place holder so that I can control it's visibility based on the user type:
<asp:LinkButton id="linkColumnsSelect" runat="server" Text="Select CSV Columns for Export" Href="javascript: void(0)" Visible="True" />

I was able to remove the PostBackUrl by adding "javascript: void(0)" to the Href property, but now I have the problem of getting a real ID that I can use in javascript. As it currently stands, this creates an ID for the item of ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_linkColumnsSelect, however I need that ID to be "linkColumnsSelect" on the client side and still work server side (for jQuery coding reasons that involve looping). Is that possible? Or do I just need to adjust my jQuery to account for the placeholder segments of IDs?

VS 2008 : TCP Message Read In Segments?

Dec 6, 2010

I'm sending TCP messages (numeric and/or text data) of various length; Approx: Each 200ms a <50 character message, and rarely a 50,000-500,000 character message. I'm trying to find a way to handle these variable length messages, and been advised to have a fixed field at the start of each message that gives the length. So I set a 7-character string that will hold this integer value. A message may then look like this:

0000015DATA|490

Now, I'm still a bit unsure how to finalize this. In any case I guess I need to set an initial buffer size, which in example below is set to 1024. So what if the message is longer than this? Would I need to save the current message parts until the full length has bee received, and keep track of how many characters is left etc? I made an attempt of that in code below. It doesn't give correct result yet, but still;

Const READ_BUFFER_SIZE As Integer = 1024 ' Amount of bytes to read in each chunk (?)
Private readBuffer(READ_BUFFER_SIZE) As Byte
Private _serverIp As Net.IPAddress

Forms :: Coding A Timeline - Update Every Second And Advance The Blue Bar By 1 Pixel Every Second

Jun 2, 2010

I'm working on a project where I need a timeline similar to what you would see within a video editing program. Picture of my timeline - [URL]

So far, I've designed the timeline using nested pictureboxes. The main area of the timeline is a picturebox, and each track (marker and test) are children pictureboxes contained within the first. The marker dots are custom controls that are children of the marker picturebox. The idea will be for the slider to control zooming of the information in the timeline and the scrollbar to control panning of the timeline. Live data will be added to the timeline. This live data will include the marker dots and painting on the bitmap contained within the test picturebox.

I've got portions of the timeline functioning, but I'm stuck on how I should go about panning and zooming. I would like the timeline to update every second and advance the blue bar by 1 pixel every second. The problem starts when the blue line reaches the end of the timeline. Once the blue line reaches the end, I want everything on the timeline to start scrolling off the left side. What would be the best way to go about doing this and still be able to maintain the data written to the timeline? This could be a lot of data if the program runs for several hours.

C# - Convert A Date And Time To UTC Time Based On The Time Zone Of The User?

Sep 6, 2009

I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).

I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?

Clock - UTC - Give The Users Current Time Zone/local Time

Jul 22, 2011

So I currently have the following:

2 timers

2 labels

1st label is "Clock" this pulls the time from the users current time zone/local time

2nd label is "UTCClock" Which would be UTC time

Now I have this for the first label: clock.Text = Format(TimeOfDay, "hh:mm:ss tt")

Which would give the users current time zone/local time. As for the UTC.. how would I add in for the UTC time from where the user is located at? I did some searches.. but couldnt find what I was looking for.. IM pretty sure its not as easy as getting the users current time zone/local time.. So im assuming that Theres a "bit more" code into getting UTC time..
