Give Focus To Previous Control After Click Of Button?

I have a form with few text boxes and other control on it like button etc. On click of a button on form i do some validation (like x = 2) if yes then it gives warning message and i want to give the focus back to the previous control (the control which was having focus before clicking button). I tried following on click of button
dim prevcntrl as control = asctivecontrol
if x = 2 then
Magbox("not valid")
activecontrol = prevcntrl

I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and VB.NET
On top of my page I have a button called btnViewRecords. When the User click on the button I want to set focus to another button or label further down on the same page. How can this be done.
This code does not work for me..............
btnTheRecords.Focus()
or
lblHeader.Focus()
Even if my code did work, i dont want to reload the page every time.

I would like to make data binding using BindingSource whereby whenever either Next Button or Previous Button is click the BindingSource position will change to display the data at that position.
I know that if I want use a loop of the BindingSource I could do somthing like vb code below but I am not sure if of binding it seperately. I usually bind it through the properties but this I cant because is an image column which I want to bind and I have to us memorystream to display it to reduce memory usage, so I asign it to arrPic so that whenever the BindingSource position changes the image column will be asign to arrPic.

The BindingSource filter the picturenames and add to a listbox. One name may contain about 4 or more pictures so when you select a name from the listbox the bindingsource populate only the pictures have the selected name and you can navigate forward and backwards.All what I want is how to bind a column to a textbox or picturebox by code. I know if it is a dataset I can declare a datarow and bind anything to the columns.

My application has a form which contains several Textboxes where user is required to fill up data. Once data is filled up user can click on "Save" button to save the data. I have added lost focus events to all textboxes so as to validate user input. When I click on cancel button, i want to detect cancel button click, but textbox lost focus is fired first so I get error message for textbox before my code moves to cancel button click handler. Is there any way to detect button click before lost focus event?

I am using an image button and on click of it i want to go to visited page.Now i am using - Response.Redirect(Request.UrlReferrer.ToString()),It is going to previous page, but when i am in a page of some user details where the link is looks like - users.aspx?userid=25 and i visit some other page and click back(image button) i want to see the same userdetail page. I am setting my Winforms Button control properties to appear as a hyperlink would on a web page. I've formatted everything fine, except the border in the FlatAppearance object. I have code to act as pseudo-CSS (FormBackColor is a string constant.):

The code removes the border from the flat Button control except on MouseOver, where I add a 1 pixel border. On MouseLeave, I remove the border. This is to show some visual feedback. This works fine when the button does not have the focus. However, if I click on the button, giving the button focus, mousing out and over again now shows a greater than 1 pixel border around the button. I'm imagining it's combining my button's explicit 1 pixel border with the traditional "Winform Button has the focus, so add a border" border around the Button.How can I disable/remove the "Winform Button has the focus, so add a border" border? Or, should I just do a check in ButtonMouseOver to check if the control has the focus, being a condition of adding the border, and just be done with it?

I have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.

I want to create a server control that inherits System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button but gives it special capability, now what do i mean? i want my button to be a confiorm button that will work like so:
Renders to the page as a button of lets say cancel after the user clicks it i want to catch the click event (within the server control) and now after the click makeing the button not visible and makeing some kind of content placeholder (that will render from the server control) visible. that content place holder will have 2 buttons inside of it: yes and cancel. I want the programmer that adds this control to be able to register a function to the click event of the yes button. and the second cancel confirmation button should make the first button appear agian. (i know how to do this all in the client side but this time i need it all as server events)
My question is this: how do i catch the click event? i want it all to be handled inside the server control itself. so a programmer that adds this control wont have to worry about anything but just needs to register to the click event of the "yes" button.

Here is what I've done:1) Created an Excel COM add-in for Excel 20032) Added a NotifyIcon to the Windows taskbar notification area (aka system tray) during ThisAddIn_Startup3) Added a ContextMenuStrip with a ToolStripButton to the NotifyIconWhy is it when I right click on the NotifyIcon, Excel gains focus? If after clicking on the NotifyIcon to display the ContextMenuStrip I choose not select an option on the ContextMenuStrip and instead click back on the Excel window, I get a weird flashing cell in Excel.I've created a video of the problem to help you see what I [url] anyone know how to prevent this? Ideally, I'd like to be able to click back on Excel and only have the ContextMenuStrip close and Excel regain focus.

I have 3 group boxes on a form. Each group box contains a single Button and several RadioButtons - each RadioButton has an associated TextBox control. Changing RadioButton in a given GroupBox enables or disables the associated TextBox control in that GroupBox. There is also a RichTextBox on the form and the contents of the RichTextBox change depending on which GroupBox contains the active control.
I am trying to use the GroupBox_Enter event to cause the RichTextBox content to be updated. When the user uses a mouse click to move to a new GroupBox the RichTextBox changes as expected (desired) but if the user tabs from the last control in the prior GroupBox to the first control in the new GroupBox it doesn't, it gets stuck one GroupBox behind. Is there a more efficient/easier way changing the backcolor of a control when it has focus and lost focus? Let's say I've got 10 text boxes. Right now I would have 20 different events...10 for Enter event and 10 for Leave event. Of course, entering would change the back color to "green" and leaving would change it back to "white".
