In simple english. How can I retrieve the name of the last form visited in code and give focus to a textbox control depending on the last form visisted.
I am entering a values into another textbox and I want it to surrender Focus to another textbox if the value I have entered is the same as the one in the database.However what is happening is that if the value is the same as in the database the cursor just disappears and it does not give focus to the control that I want it to give focus to. Any ideas on how I can correct this.

I have a text box where i am entering numbers of double datatype andon the Keytdown event of the textbox some checks take pace and in certain circumstances I want to be able to stop the user from entering other information until they enter the right information in the textbox (where it says right here) . now when I say exit sub the textbox somehow loses focus . but this is not how I want it to be I want the textbox to remain with the focus so the user can change the information . How can i go about this.
And the other thing is why is my txtDestPayRate1.Focus() just befor the exit sub not working? because I am giving focus to it so whats happening or rather why is it not happening Is there a way other than exit sub to tell it to stop executing on that line and do other stuff

I am working on a carputer app, and it will be relatively basic with common tools. I am going to make an onscreen keyboard that fits the style of my app, but I want to make it a seperate application from the main app. All I want it to do is is have my keyboard become visible whenever I enter a text field of any application, whether it be programmed by me or a third-party app. Think about this in the way of a smart phone... Whenever you enter a textfield the system keyboard is displayed.

We have a main form which opens an MDI child form. What we want is to set the focus on a particular control in the child form, namely a telerik textbox. When the form is opened for the first time, the focus is set to the textbox control which has a tabIndex = 1 as expected. If the winodw is closed (and disposed) and then reopened via a button on the tool bar that calls the same code that opens the window when the application starts, no control has focus. We have added lines such as Me.rtxtPatientId.Focus() in the Paint event, load event, and activated event handlers but still cannot get the focus to the control. The code is quite extensive so posting it is difficult. However, here is the section that opens the child window:

Is there a more efficient/easier way changing the backcolor of a control when it has focus and lost focus? Let's say I've got 10 text boxes. Right now I would have 20 different events...10 for Enter event and 10 for Leave event. Of course, entering would change the back color to "green" and leaving would change it back to "white".

I have a textbox on a form that when it loses focus it updates other text boxes on the form. But before it updates the other textboxes I check the input value in the textbox lostfocus event if it is undesired I return focus to the the textbox and alert the the user with a msgbox. However where my problem is, is that when the cancel button is clicked I don't care what the input in the textbox is because the changes are being canceled but if the value is undesired the it keeps returning focus to the textbox instead of canceling the changes. Is there a way to see what control was clicked on before or in the lost focus event? Can't seem to figure it out tried enter and leave events but no luck!

I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.
I have a DataGridView on a form that is being populated from a SQL table dataset by giving criteria from a previous form. I have 6 columns in the dataset, of which the last column should be combo box column containing items "Done" and "Pending". What is the appropriate declaration such as "ValueChanged" or "Click" for a NumericUpDown that will execute the code when I press enter. I already know that setting the "AcceptButton" property of the main form to a default button will not work, especially if I want a different button to be selected depending on which control I give focus. I am new to VB and seeking to create a visual basic program which controls the display of several on-screen elements depending on a single value input by a user. The user can enter anyone of 2500 values and depending on the value entered, five different display elements on the screen will change color or text. The program's response to a given input value never changes, in other words if the user enters 279, the five different display items will always be the same. However, there is no real pattern to the display items that would allow for programming an anticipated response to the input value.
My thinking is to create a large and ponderous "lookup table" in visual basic - I am assuming this an be done but perhaps there is a different or better method. I plan on creating the lookup file in Excel but was assuming I'd need to export it to something that VB could easily read. Any suggestions on the best way to do this? Does the lookup table reside as a separate .txt files someplace or something like that? [Code]

I've written an VB application and have successfuly got it into the form of a web page using Visual Web Developer (VWD).The application has a link which opens up another web page in a new window. I would like it that code triggered by a Button on this application will only run if the web page has been opened via this link. In VB it was easy as clicking a Button object made code run (which opened up the WebBrowser within the application) and I could therefore include a line of code such as eg. trigger=1 (and then later I could use "if trigger=1 then"). But in VWD Toolbox objects "Link" and "Button Link" take you directly to the web page (ie they are hyperlinks), without giving me the opportunity to include my "trigger=1" line.
