Globalization With Datagridview And SQL Express 2005
May 31, 2010
I have the following code written in order to get data from an SQL Express table to a datagridview.Everythink is OK but the text that is displayed at the datagridview is something like this "Test text?" where? are some Greek characters. I tried some code with culture info but nothing. [Code]
The program I am trying to modify was initially written using VB 2005 Express. I have subsequently downloaded the 2008 version. The program creates a monthly spreadsheet from a template. The old code that will no longer (highlighted and underlined) compile is as follows:
I have attempted to uninstall VB 2005 express and C++ express using Remove Add programs to no avail. Error message: The Window Installer Package c:program files visual studio 8 vs_setup.msi could not be opened. I have removed the MSDN library and SQL server successfully. I have also tried vs_uninst_betas tool which doesn't find anything to uninstall. I would prefer not to modify the registry if at all possible. If I could find a source for the original install packages for VB and C++ I would attempt reinstalling and then uninstalling....but cannot find them anywhere.
Is this software what i need to install to extract data from PDF documents using 2005? If so is this the link i need to get it from? [url] I just got no idea about itextsharp
i wrote a software which would work perfectly fine on vb.net with connection string: [code] but if i try and run it on a pc with sql server 2005 installed it fails to run what changes do i need to do to make it run
It seems that I have problem changing System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture value according to the user preferences (.net 4.0 web application). In my Web Application, I have two buttons. One for the Greek Language and one for the English Language. When the buttons are clicked a request goes to the server asking to change the user preferred language. For Greek, I send "el-GR" and for English, I send "en-US". On server side, I use the following piece of code to change the Current CultureInfo:
I know you can get a currency symbol or a data format for a country using System.Globalization. However, is it possible to get the phone number format for a country from it as well. If not is there a way to get this information from the .NET Framework?
I have a web application which uses the globalization values being passed from sql server 2005 using a ResourceProviderFactory. I can globalize the labels in UI using <%$ Resources: "Resourcekey" %> however, i wish to know how i can globalize the dynamic/custom controls available in the code behind of my vb.aspx page?
I am using Windows Forms Application that supports both Arabic and English languages....The problem is if i put the controls like (TextBox and Label) on form itself they get Layout RightToLeft and also become right align means label went to right side and textbox in left side)....But when i put these controls inside of a GroupBox or Table then textbox itself become right align ...i means cursor inside of text box............but controls don't flip from left to right......Label remains on left side and textbox on right side....i want to flip the controls.........label must go to right...same like Forms ControlBox is flipping.
I'm busy creating a multi language application, so far so good. I've googled some examples, first problem I've encountered is setting it. Accourding the msdn documentation it had to be done BEFORE initializecomponent. I didn't know how, but found out you have to creat a 'sub new' in your main class.
My click-once app has english and spanish content. In development, it runs fine with the two resource files I have - named multilingual.en-US.resx & multilingual.es-MX.resx accordingly. When I publish it looses these resources for referencing. The files reside in the root directory for the app.

Ran into this problem of connection string using vb.net and sqlserver 2005 express. My current connection string works well locally but when deployed on a client, i get a connection. Can anyone help with the right connection string to us in order to deploy to other client(pc's).
I have made setup of my application consisting of VB.net Windows Application and SQL Server Express 2005 SP4. I have attached SQLEXPR.EXE with proper arguments into Custom Action with commit option.
Now whenever i want to try to install my program is running properly But SQL Server Express is not running showing error (Another intstallation is running....)
So now i want to know how to install SQL Express 2005 SP4 before my package installed using VB.net Package and Deployment.
I have been trying to install Visual Basic 2005 Express (several times) and I get the error :"Error occured during setup The following component failed to install:Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition - ENU"My PC runs on Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 I have 2.5 GB RAM and run Norton 360. Does anybody have a clue on resolving this issue?
I did the registration process from the computer I installed this soft, and when I copy the serial number that it gives me, the software doesnīt recognizes it... Can it be a problem that the PC is in a LAN? Can I generate a new serial number?
I know microsoft provide Free versions fo the Visual studio express editions but they dont provide any of the Visual sudio expression editions of 2005. Could any one tell em where i can Downlaod the Visual studio 2005 Express editions?
Since VB 2005 express does not really install properly in windows 7, here is how to get it to install and make it work right. It's very simple.
1. Right click on the VB 2005 express installer file and click "Properties" in the menu. 2. Now click the "Compatibility" tab. 3. Check the box that says, "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" 4. Click the drop down menu and select "Windows Vista Service Pack 2. (I haven't tried service pack one.) 5. Now check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator" and click "Apply," then "OK" 6. Run the installer. Wait until VB 2005 express has installed to do these next steps. 7. Make a desktop icon for VB 2005 Express 8. Right click on the VB 2005 express icon and click "Properties" in the menu. 9. Now click the "Compatibility" tab. 10. Check the box that says, "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" 11. Click the drop down menu and select "Windows Vista Service Pack 2. (I haven't tried service pack one.) 12. Now check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator" and click "Apply," then "OK"
VB 2005 Express should now run on you Windows 7 machine! (Yipee) Notice that it is necessary to repeat the same process for the installer file as well as the actual VB program becuase they are two different files and need to run in compatibility mode.
I am trying to make a VB User Interface with Visual Basic Express Edition 2005 where clients can do the following calculation: Stranding x Bare Copper CMA = Total CMA
I have created an access 2007 database called Total_CMA, this database has 2 columns, one with the SIZE and the other AREA, but in this database the Size = Area ( was not sure how to set that up properly ) so I left it at 2 columns and then went to VB and set up with a listbox for the Size and have bound the database to this listbox, and when I debug it, the numbers for Size show up in the listbox, so thats looking good so far, since the size = area when I bound it it asked to get and I picked Size then it asked value equals so I picked Area and hope that was the proper thing to do.
I added a TEXTBOX named STRANDS for the customer to input the number of strands, then a button to click to calculate total CMA and another Textbox named TOTAL to display the results. All have labels next to them naming what they are.
My question is, how do I get what the customer selects in the listbox to multiply by the STRANDS textbox and output in the TOTAL textbox when clicked on the button to calculate total CMA. I also need to make sure whatever SIZE they picked in the listbox is going to take the AREA number ( not the SIZE number ) and multiply it by the STRANDS textbox.
How can I download the Visual Basic 2005 (not 2008) Express Edition? The links on the VB 2005 page do not download that edition, but rather the 2008 edition. My son wants that edition to use the Facebook API on the VB Express website. The API only works with VB 2005. If VB 2005 Express is no longer available, then how about removing the mention of a FaceBook api download or give some serious instructions on how to use it with VB 2008.
I have created a resource directory loaded with 10 mp3 files in it and added it to the resources tab. The problem I am having is when the program is compiled and installed, it does not add the resource directory to the hard drive. I know that resources can be added into the applications files in the publish tab but cannot seem to figure out how to get it listed or added in there.I also took each mp3 and set the build action to Embedded Resource... That didnt help much though. The resource directory i want to include in the deployement is in my bin/debug/resources in the solution explorer.
I have a VB 2005 WinForms Project which is giving what I think is a false error. On the Designer screen for the main form (which normally displays the form layout etc.) I get:One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. The errors are listed below. Some errors can be fixed by rebuilding your project, while others may require code changes.'. ctor' is not a valid identifier.
3 years ago I developed a vb.net application that connect to sql express 2005 data base. The application worked fine.e replaced our computers, so we installed the application again. (The same exe file, the same sql server and so on). Now, only when loading few forms I receive the following message: n error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)Note that when we log in to the application, a connection is needed. The user verifying is working fine; it means that the connection is working properly.
I have just installed VB.NET 2003 and I am trying to manage some databases using SQL Server 2005 Express. When I try accessing the database via the data connection tab, I get the following message.
Quote: You have connected to a version of SQL Server later than SQL Server 2000. The version of Visual Studio or Access that you are using was released before the version of SQL Server to which you are connected. For this reason, you might encounter problems.
Please check with Microsoft to see if there is a service pack that you should apply to Visual Studio or Office in order to get support for the version of SQL Server to which you are connected. You can continue but any new object types might not be enumerated, and it will not be possible to save any objects or database diagrams that you create using the Visual Database Tools.I can not add tables or manage data fields. Does anyone know how to get the patch referred to in the message above? I can not find it via google or this forum.
