I know you can get a currency symbol or a data format for a country using System.Globalization. However, is it possible to get the phone number format for a country from it as well. If not is there a way to get this information from the .NET Framework?
View 11 RepliesI'm in MS Access 2003. I inherited a form with a text box. The text box has the following input mask. !(900") "000-0000;0; Here are my issues.
1. If the form is opened and I click in the text box at a point that is not leftmost, the cursor may not be placed at the leftmost position. Sometimes, it gets stuck at some point in the displayed mask. If I click in an empty text box, I always want the cursor to be leftmost. How can I create that behavior ?
2. If I get the cursor in the leftmost position of the text box and try to paste in phone numbers in certain formats, some of the input gets chopped off. ex: 555 555 5555, becomes (555) 555-{cursor} 555-555-5555 becomes (555) {cursor} IMHO, these formats are common enough that I would want a mask to accept it. Can I make the mask more general ?
3. What is the meaning of leading !, the double quotes, and the semi-colons?
I have a query (qryTallyMedalInformation) that i bound on datagridview and it has 5 columns ( country, athlete, medal, game and date). Instead of having country in the datagrid, I want to use it in a combobox to display records base on country selected.what i did (with wizard) doesnt work fine though. My country combobox shows duplicate data and the datagrid is showing all the records from different country. In one word I JUST DID NOTHING.

In my Web Application, I have two buttons. One for the Greek Language and one for the English Language. When the buttons are clicked a request goes to the server asking to change the user preferred language. For Greek, I send "el-GR" and for English, I send "en-US". I am trying to Mask Employee ID, so the user doesn't have to type the entire employee ID number CCETA01. I want them to type only two digit numbers. e.g. 01 to 99...
Here what I did but its not working:I draged from toolbox a Maskedtextbox on the Form and in the textbox progerties I put cce a. The entire number show up on my textbox pretty good but it does not allow me to change the two digit numeric number?

I have two masked text boxes that holds Phone Numbers and Zip Codes.Since they are Masked text boxes and are set not to allow characters or letters, the user must enter numbers.However, how do I add a message telling the user to enter number and zip code since there is no prompt?I don't need to validate the numbers just to add an error message if it's left empty.

but when i change the system date separator to "-" in control panel then all mask control is taking 'yyyy-mm-dd'.
I don't want to change mask text box date format based on local system setting. Always this should accept only yyyy/mm/dd .
I want to display a phone number in a text box like this:
"(828) 524-5121".
In VB6, I could do this:
temp= Format("8285244121", "(###) ###-####")
and temp would be "(828) 524-5121".
If do this in VB2008, temp is "(###) ###-####".
I'm looking to create a windows application in vb.net or c#.net that will capture the phone number of incoming calls. This would be a land line. What would the hardware requirements be?

1) #### ### #### (All numbers)
2) ##### ###### (All numbers)
3) ###### (All numbers)
just as the question says. I get numbers like 2125550938 or 20298277625552. these should change to (212) 555-0938 and (202) 982-7762 x 5552 respectively. this is in vb.net
View 4 RepliesI don't really need all the code, just a method of doing something.I'm trying to do number #42 on page 496 of the VB 2005 book. I'm able to get each number from each button on the phone to display, but I'm not sure how to go about adding the numbers to the number already on the screen. I can get 1 then a 2, then a 3, etc but not 123.
I believe the method is adding to a string, and I know I have to use concatenation or something.. I just need a push in the right direction.

View 6 RepliesI have searched on google and asked friends, but have not figured out a way to add dashes while a user is typing either a phone number or a social security number or something of the like. I am using Visual Studio 2008, VB Windows Form. This is not for homework but I enjoy adding things to certain projects and thought this would be neat to incorporate into one of mine. I am also curious about allowing the user to enter the first three numbers for their area code and then send the focus to the next text box so that the user can type the rest of their number. I was thinking I could do something with the text box text entered event procedure where I would send the focus after three characters entered. Not 100% on the entire idea or if there is an easier way.

This works as expected for cells with a phone number but for cells without a phone number I get
{}- Which seems like the proper output for what I specified.

I need to take a fully formated number:

And take out all the none integer characters, such as parens, hyphens, and spaces.So far I have:

sNumber and sFixed are both declared class/global level. The thing is, I've made two separate if's, i've made the second one an elseif, It just only enacts one if statement, such as only taking out the hyphens and not taking out the parens, or vice versa. I'm thinking i need to declare multiple sFixed (sFixed1,2,3, etc) but that seems terribly inefficient.
I'm trying to validate the correct format for a phone number in a text box: (000) 000-0000 For a test, i made it so that a messagebox shows up saying "correct" if the format is correct. This test works well WHEN the format is correct. BUT when the format IS NOT correct, I keep getting an error saying that the index was out of the array.

I am on Vista and it looks like all comm ports are not available or that I don't know how to enable them.
