Mar 21, 2011
I have two masked text boxes that holds Phone Numbers and Zip Codes.Since they are Masked text boxes and are set not to allow characters or letters, the user must enter numbers. However, how do I add a message telling the user to enter number and zip code since there is no prompt?I don't need to validate the numbers just to add an error message if it's left empty.
how to create an error message by message box to tell the user to enter a number only if they key in a character value?
I MEAN AFTER THEY PRESS THE CALCULATE BUTTON
Private Sub btnCalcFat_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCalcFat.Click Dim intFat As Integer intFat = Integer.Parse(txtFat.Text) lblResultDisplay.Text = txtFat.Text * 9 End Sub
i have a sql table which has 2 fields number & name

Situation is that the app finds out max of number and increments it by 1 to get new number. The problem is when two users enter some record sometimes two records get saved on same number.
It seems like I'm only able to enter a certain number of chars into a textbox.Like if I have a list from 1 to 10000.When I paste it in a textbox it ends like this:
With this code, I am trying to enter a number in TxtBox Class A, B, and C. When I place a number in either text box, it will multiply the following text boxes by either 15, 21, and 9, add the total and place it in the the total text box. When I run the code I get this error message "Conversion from string "" to type 'Decimal' is not valid."
Dim decClassA As Decimal Dim decClassB As Decimal Dim decClassC As Decimal Dim decClassAR As Decimal Dim decClassBR As Decimal [Code] .....
I have a function that allows a user to enter numeric vallues and also a period for the decimal points but I also want to allow for users to enter the minus sign to allow users to enter negative values . How would I go about it.
Public Function SingleDecimal(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal eChar As Char) As Boolean Dim chkstr As String = "0123456789." If chkstr.IndexOf(eChar) > -1 OrElse eChar = vbBack Then If eChar = "." Then
So it was my first try ever with VB and it kind of worked... Only 2 problems;
1. Button 2 doesn't really work, I have to click it really many times, then go to a different window, then click it really many times again, in the meantime it keeps on spamming
2. How do I make my autotyper press enter every single time after the textbox message was typed?
I am doing a program for travel reservation and need to know how to let the customer enter their passport number into a textbox. Its is 8 characters long and the first 7 characters are numbers and the 8th is a letter.

I know you can get a currency symbol or a data format for a country using System.Globalization. However, is it possible to get the phone number format for a country from it as well. If not is there a way to get this information from the .NET Framework?
I'm having trouble getting a masked textbox to properly store a date. I'm using the short date format 00/00/0000 but when I navigate to a record that only has a single digit date it displays incorrectly.eg. 12/01/2008 displays as 12/12/008_Surely there's a fix for this but I'm not finding it.
My form's KeyPreview is set to True. I want to allow my users to use the Enter Key instead of just the Tab key. I have the following code in my form's KeyPress event:
Private Sub frmDesigner_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyPress If e.KeyChar = vbkeyreturn Then
[Code]....
It doesn't like vbkeyreturn, which I used in Visual Basic 6.0. I think I must be close to having it right.
I am trying to make a basic ATM system, iv got all the interface done and I have made the link to my SQL database etc. the part i'm stuck on is how I can run a check to see if a bank card number matches up to the users PIN number. To simulate the user putting a card into the machine I've used a combo box, and that lists all the cards, that haven't been flagged as confiscated (there's a column in my ATMCards table that I can set to true or false) then after the user has selected a relevant card there's another text box where they can enter in their PIN number.
Now what I want to do is, if they chose the card number 1234567890123456 in the combo box and they enter in the PIN 1234 into the text box, then, after clicking the check PIN Button if the pin is correct they need to be taken to another from where they can check their balance etc., and if its wrong they got three attempts after which point i want to flag that card as confiscated.
I am using VS2005 version of VB.Net programmer. I wanted to use the user input but most people tell me to use console...but I cannot use this function since my version is different, it will not show any results. I found that using mask textbox can use to read the user input but I don't know how the code can be written. I want user to input two number such as 1.345 and 2.355 and use this number for addition and give the answer. I not sure how I write the code for mask textbox to be read once user input the numbers.
how to enter a data that i enter in textbox to a datagridview... for example i enter in the textbox is round and when i click add it will go to database... im using ms access database
When I originally set up my project I 'hard-coded' my username and password in so that I could access a remote DB2 database. Now that I need to publish it to other users they need to be prompted for their own usernames and passwords. I've gone to "My Project/Settings" and deleted the items from the string - but when I run I get the following message on the statement:
I'm making a speed game in VB.Net (Console Application) and users have a certain time to press a certain key. So how can I give the Console.ReadKey function a timeout without just waiting until a key was pressed?
I am supposed to create a program in my VB.net class to do the following:
1. Prompt the user to enter the beginning number and the ending number.
2. Find the sum of the even numbers between these two values, inclusive.
[Code]...
We are currently using for next statements in the class. I know how to prompt for and utilize the numbers that are input etc. My problem is the EVEN numbers part. I obviously have to determine if the number is even and then use a step value of 2 from there. But not sure how to determine if number is even or odd (guessing to use mod, but totally lost).
I am wounder if anyone might have a web site or no where I can find the information so I understand how to prompt the user to enter the beginning number and the ending number. And then to find the sum of the even number. Now does anyone know what a name convention is ? I have tried to look it up on the forums but cant find nothing on it.
When users run my vb2008 executable they get the windows security message "The published could not be published. Are you sure you want to run this software?"
Is there any way to get rid of this message when users run my app? Or do individual users need to change their security settings?
