Users Enter Some Record Sometimes Two Records Get Saved On Same Number?
Aug 26, 2009
i have a sql table which has 2 fields number & name
1 abc
2 xyz
Situation is that the app finds out max of number and increments it by 1 to get new number. The problem is when two users enter some record sometimes two records get saved on same number.
I'm having a problem setting the maximum number of records that can be saved into Access. The maximum allowance is to be 10. Records are being pulled from a listbox. The whole problem is that if the listbox has 7 items and my table already has 5 records, it still records them, making a total of 12. What I'm looking for is a way to trap that to a max of 10.[code]...
I have two masked text boxes that holds Phone Numbers and Zip Codes.Since they are Masked text boxes and are set not to allow characters or letters, the user must enter numbers. However, how do I add a message telling the user to enter number and zip code since there is no prompt?I don't need to validate the numbers just to add an error message if it's left empty.
I have a vb application sitting on sql 2005 database i want a scenario where the application can check the number of records inserted into a particular table(Users) , if the number of records inserted into that table after 1wk since the last insert is less than 100 records it should pop up a warning alert with the total number of records
I have a function that allows a user to enter numeric vallues and also a period for the decimal points but I also want to allow for users to enter the minus sign to allow users to enter negative values . How would I go about it.
Public Function SingleDecimal(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal eChar As Char) As Boolean Dim chkstr As String = "0123456789." If chkstr.IndexOf(eChar) > -1 OrElse eChar = vbBack Then If eChar = "." Then
This code i had use for create a field in DB Access 2003:
SQL = "ALTER TABLE plano_contas ADD declperiodica06A char(40) WITH COMPRESSION NULL)" Dim command1 As New OleDb.OleDbCommand(SQL, con1) con1.Open() command1.ExecuteNonQuery() con1.Close()
like you see the code create a Text field with 40 lenght...Well the problem is:When i save a new record the record it's save in this mode: "100......... .........................." - the points means spaces and should be:"100"After try a lot of things i'm without more solutions in find why this happen!
How do I force users to save the current record (if current record has changed) and not let user go to the next record unless the save button is pressed?
I am using VS 2010 and Access 2010 and in a table I have a Primary Key called Counter which is an Autonumber. When I save a record I need to be able to access the value of the counter field for the new record. When I try and access the field I get a value of zero.I can see the value in Access but I cannot set it in Vb.Net. I have set the fields and then
I have problems to print the records which is saved in text file. It prints whatever in between the textfile but does not print whatever contents in the textfile.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub pd_PrintPage(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal ev As Printing.PrintPageEventArgs)
I am trying to add a new record everytime i do my navigation gets all messed up I also need an update button... I would like so when i hit new record the record of will be(ex. If Im adding record number 30 it will say record 30 of 30, hit add new it will say record 31 of 31) my code is below.
'Class File Module Class1 Public MasterConnection As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=db1.mdb;Persist Security Info=False;")
My form's KeyPreview is set to True. I want to allow my users to use the Enter Key instead of just the Tab key. I have the following code in my form's KeyPress event:
Private Sub frmDesigner_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyPress If e.KeyChar = vbkeyreturn Then
[Code]....
It doesn't like vbkeyreturn, which I used in Visual Basic 6.0. I think I must be close to having it right.
I'm trying to build a new customer data entry page for a db project. One of the features I would like to add is a way to check and see if there have been any new records that have been added that haven't been explicitly saved to the db. If so, when the form_closing events fires I want to evaluate whether or not new entries have been made that weren't saved, and then count the number of rows that haven't been saved.
On form1 I have a InputDialog (Created by code.) on the Dialog there is a InputTextBox that is bound to MyBindingSource. When the Enter Key is pressed I need Label1 to replace the dialog while saving the entry to the DataBase and then display that saved record.
I am trying to make a basic ATM system, iv got all the interface done and I have made the link to my SQL database etc. the part i'm stuck on is how I can run a check to see if a bank card number matches up to the users PIN number. To simulate the user putting a card into the machine I've used a combo box, and that lists all the cards, that haven't been flagged as confiscated (there's a column in my ATMCards table that I can set to true or false) then after the user has selected a relevant card there's another text box where they can enter in their PIN number.
Now what I want to do is, if they chose the card number 1234567890123456 in the combo box and they enter in the PIN 1234 into the text box, then, after clicking the check PIN Button if the pin is correct they need to be taken to another from where they can check their balance etc., and if its wrong they got three attempts after which point i want to flag that card as confiscated.
All I need to do is only allow the users to add new records, I am not using a datagrid rather a details form (i.e. individual text boxes etc...).
I do not want the users to be able to view current records or edit them. If I just used plain text boxes then that obviously would be simple but I've already designed my rather detailed forms using the data objects (so taking the fields straight from the Data Sources mainly because it saves me writing the connection strings and stuff.
Hope this is possible without going back to using normal text boxes and writing the connection string out my self, only because that's a long way back to go right now.
When I originally set up my project I 'hard-coded' my username and password in so that I could access a remote DB2 database. Now that I need to publish it to other users they need to be prompted for their own usernames and passwords. I've gone to "My Project/Settings" and deleted the items from the string - but when I run I get the following message on the statement:
I'm making a speed game in VB.Net (Console Application) and users have a certain time to press a certain key. So how can I give the Console.ReadKey function a timeout without just waiting until a key was pressed?
I am supposed to create a program in my VB.net class to do the following:
1. Prompt the user to enter the beginning number and the ending number.
2. Find the sum of the even numbers between these two values, inclusive.
[Code]...
We are currently using for next statements in the class. I know how to prompt for and utilize the numbers that are input etc. My problem is the EVEN numbers part. I obviously have to determine if the number is even and then use a step value of 2 from there. But not sure how to determine if number is even or odd (guessing to use mod, but totally lost).
I am wounder if anyone might have a web site or no where I can find the information so I understand how to prompt the user to enter the beginning number and the ending number. And then to find the sum of the even number. Now does anyone know what a name convention is ? I have tried to look it up on the forums but cant find nothing on it.
I have a textbox, a sql database, a binding source bound to the sql database. I can use auto-complete mode of the textbox with custom strings and it suggests in in a drop down form as the user types in a textbox. How can I use autocomplete mode with datasaved in different records of a field using the bindingsource?
I am handling many of the BindingNavigator tasks (MoveFirst, MoveNext, etc.)in code to ensure that I always ask the User to save his changes.
The one area I am have a problem is PositionItem. I would like to sense that the User has changed the Record Number in the BindingNavigatorPositionItem, handle my record Update, and move to the Record Number the User entered I have looked all over and have not found any way to do this.
In a winforms application (VB, VS2008 SP1) i bound a checkbox field to a SQL Server 2005 BIT field. The databinding itself seems to work, there is this litte problem: user creates a new record and checks the checkbox, then the user decides to create a new record (without having saved the previous, so there are 2 new records to be submitted) and checks also the second.
I have a DataGridView bound to a non-SQL Server database.I need to allow users to edit existing records but under certain circumstances I need to intercept the edit and instead of committing and updating the dataset I need to delete the edited record and re-add it as a new record.I have tried using every event I can think of to do this but haven't managed to get it right. [code] This almost works but sometimes completely messes up and re-adds rows twice and all kinds of other bad side effects.

The closest I have got is with this: Dim theRow As DataGridViewRow Private loading As Boolean = True Private rowLeft As Boolean = False Private WithEvents cm As CurrencyManager Dim copiedRow0 As String [Code] .....
This almost works but sometimes completely messes up and re-adds rows twice and all kinds of other bad side effects. It seems a really simple thing to want to do but I just can't get it working.
I Have made a database and connected it using VB.net 2005. I try to enter new records into the database and i can update the dataset but not the database itself, i write the code to update the database and i get an error saying[code...]
Here is the code for the whole thing, I click btnNext to display the next recrod and want to change it by clicking the update button but this is when the error comes up'[code...]
I have a form in which I am updating records to table Users in database China.accb. The btnClick sub successfully updates the Dataset. However, the actual table Users never gets the update. What am I doing wrong? The code is below.
I am developing Client/Server application in Visual Basic 2005 with back-end SQL Server 2005 Database.I have lot a users to access to this application.I have a problem with accessing same record by two users on different machines at the same time. For example: Two user fetches the same record display on the machine. Now both have same data on the machine. The first user modified and saved the record and after some times another saved the data without modified or modifed some other columns. Now the last user who modifed the record contains the old data.
is there a way to tell if the record is currently open (for editing) by another useregclerk 1 gets recordset for a person. pessimisic lock, client cursor.
