I am trying to setup an SSN Masked TextBox, the mask i selected for the field is 999-99-9999 When the field has no info the mask pattern shows in it, i would like to hide it and display it only upon info entry, meaning the user will enter the first 3 digits and then '-' will appear, will enter 2 more digits and then the second '-' will appear.

When calling Validate Luhn i want the program to tell me if the number entered is valid or invalid using the code in the function:

I'm chasing code that is going to allow me to have multiple text boxes on my form, but when the form is first opened, it will only display one textbox. Once data is entered into said text box, i want it to display the next textbox, and so on. Is there a way to have these hidden?

Assume you have controls A, B, C, D and E all with a Visibility property. You also have states 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 in which various combinations of your controls would be displayed. Currently this is being handled by switch statements for each state: i.e.
Select Case PageState
case "1"
a.visible = false
b.visible = true

As you can imagine, this becomes a pain as every state needs a show/hide statement for each control. How can I refactor this so that adding controls and/or states becomes trivial?My first instinct is to extend the control and add a collection of states that it should display for but this sounds like overkill.
Edit:I was deliberately vague in my question in case this has other implications. In my current instance the "controls" in question are ASP Panels. Does that change anything?

I wanted to use the user input but most people tell me to use console...but I cannot use this function since my version is different, it will not show any results. I found that using mask textbox can use to read the user input but I don't know how the code can be written. I have used a masked textbox extender and the percentages display fine. using 99.99% as a mask and number as the mask type.Now my problem is that i want it to be converted to a decimal when i save it to the database e.g 50% saves as 0.5 and then when it comes back from the database it must display as 50% again. I have connection to the Access database in my Visual Studio 2008 solution. Now the problem I am having is when I enter the information on to the form how is it suppose to transmit it to Access? I am sorry to be a pest, but I did not want to take this class eventhough it is required. I only have a few weeks left of class. View 2 RepliesOK, so i was going to verify a MaskedTextBox on whether the number input was or was not 10 digits in length. If not 10 digits, obviously they didn't put in a full phone number.
The problem is, even though you have no digits the length is still 10 so you can't check if the user put in 10 digits or not and return an error? Anyone got any ideas on testing for a phone number?I've seen tons of examples on date verification, but none on phone number verification.

I am new to visual basic. I am putting a masked text box that is data binded. Example social security number 000-00-0000. When the cursor is on the masked field, a can no longer exit the field. I tried a couple of things on the forums but it has not worked yet. It could be a very simple but I am failing to see it.

When I try to type in it again the first character is added before the mask. (ex. 1#### instead of ####) I've figured out that pressing backspace before trying to enter numbers again resolves this issue. Is there a way to send the backspace function rather than the chrs(8) like SendKeys.Send(Keys.Back) does?
