Aug 19, 2009I'm writing a windows forms project in Visual Studio 2008 - VB, data are stored in SQL database.- I have a date field within Datagrid that could be Null or have a date in it. I had set it to show <none> when it's Null (Null is allowed for this field). The problem that I got is when user would need to delete the date from that date cell within the grid. I'm getting an error immediately after pressing "Delete" to clear the cell value. I had put in a work around - added the code for grid DataError event and assigned DBNull.Value to that cell and user is able to type in <none> for that cell or just press save, but it won't allow to go to the next cell in the grid if you don't save or type <none>. I'm sure that there is a better way handlig situation like that. May be using different event? I wasn't able to find anything else on it.- the other issue in the datagrid - if user fills in 3 cells out of 5 for example and press save while in the 3d cell - it won't save the value in the 3d cell. I also put a work around to check for the values in specific cells before saving but the problem with it - few cells could be Null (and should be Null). I can't check every single cell value and force user to type something in it.

Nov 13, 2009The problem is this: I have two forms. One form and the other form do mathematical calculations. I want to save the values that the user inputs, so when the user quits the program and then starts it up again the values are still there. But when I open up the program, start typing in values, then calculate them, hit quit. Try to open up the program again, its giving me a message that the input file is invalid. When I click ok, the program doesn't crash, continues. But the values are not there at all. The other form I put exactly the same code, just changed the variables and it doesn't want to save the values at all! I wrote this code for saving and loading the values:

May 28, 2012I am trying to setup an SSN Masked TextBox, the mask i selected for the field is 999-99-9999 When the field has no info the mask pattern shows in it, i would like to hide it and display it only upon info entry, meaning the user will enter the first 3 digits and then '-' will appear, will enter 2 more digits and then the second '-' will appear.

Displaying Information In A Grid
May 13, 2009I am working on a Windows Forms Application and I have got stuck and wondered if anyone can provide some much needed direction. [Code] The user makes a selection of, say region, and then a DB layer sends back some linq IQueriable(of sometype) for a particular month. I wanted to add a month column each time they select a month.
I can't seem to do this too well with a datagridview, I have tried making a class that holds the measure as string and value as decimal and then create a list of these to bind but then if I add a new one I have problems as it just overwrits the origional one. I could just place a series of textboxes and fill them as I go but this seems like it is a problem waiting to happen kind of way. What I really need is some sort of grid that is expandable.

Jan 14, 2010This is a VB .NET application where we are showing the output of a SQL statement in a Datagrid view. using .NET 2005.We need to get the seperators of the headers on the grid control to be the same colors as the GridColor on the form. See the picture below:We've tried looking through all of the properties of the DataGridView control, and found some interesting things that looked promising such as the DataGridViewAdvancedHeaderStyle, and DataGridViewHeaderBorderStyle, but none of it seems to allow you to change the colors on it.Does anyone know how to do this without remaking the entire thing with a GDI+ control?

The split seems to be working fine but the issue i am having is when I populate the datagrid it is growing in height and changing the splitter instead of leaving the height alone and adding scroll bars.

VS 2010 - Reading Text Information In Grid / Coordinate System
May 25, 2011This project is based on a MUD, or at least originates from playing them. I have an ascii map where each character represents a type of terrain. I have found code for reading one line at a time, but I need to not only dictate which line to be read, but how many characters in to the line to read. Basically trying to make a grid/coordinate system, where I can tell it my location is 4, 7 and the program will read the fourth line, seventh character.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".

Jan 29, 2010I am creating a save function for my program and need to save information from different form into the same line of text in a text document. I have to get the date (from vb), the persons name (on frrmDataCollection.tbName) and their BMI (its calculated on frrmDataCollection from a button so i dunno how to do this bit). I then need to put it in a text document on my hard drive (C:BMICalculator). Here is the code that I have got at the moment 1st for the conversion and 2nd for the save function.

Dec 6, 2009I am trying to create a program that will have an option to automatically log you into a couple sites when you press the Start button. I have a separate form that you can open and put in your Username and Password for each site. There is a button that when you press it it is supposed to write to a file (C:DesktopAccounts.txt) you username and password so that when it is opened again you will not have to type them again. I had it working perfectly until I added some code so that it will remember if you had the check box checked and have the text box as read only (if check box is not checked). I even tried deleting the new code but it still will not write to the file, but it can read from it if I put the information in manually.
