I want to display the first and last characters of any given string entered into a textbox. The strings can be of any length as the user wants (as long as it is one word) I would like to be able to do something like this... "william = will and iam" or "Celtic = Cel and tic"I understand I would have to split or divide the string. How would I go about doing this?

Im trying to create a program that takes an amount entered by the user and then convert it into Half Dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies when the calculate button is clicked. Each coin has its own function and is shown in separate text boxes... right now i cant get it to work correctly. When i try to get half dollars to work it rounds up and then the rest of the coins say 0. How should i do this?

I want to validate a string in a textbox after a period.Lets say that it needs to be ".rad" (whatever). When I enter "radjesh.rad" and press "OK" it should check if the last 4/5/6 (whatever) characters (including period) are in the string. If I'd enter "radjesh" it should fail, but if I'd enter (e.g.) "radjesh.jrkrk" it should work.

View 3 RepliesWhat my program does is load a file (password list), then progressively reads each line of text in the file whilst writing each line to a new file. After X amount of lines have been written, it should start writing the lines of text to a new document until the initial password list has been split into X amount of password lists. The problem I have is that after hours of tweaking, all I can get it to do is write either blank ocuments, or write all of the lines to only one file. I really need it to be able to split into multiple files, preferably at runtime rather than loading a whole text document into the program in a textbox or array then writing it to new files.Below is the source:

I have an rtf string pulled from my database. I was trying to find a way to display this rtf string formatted in silverlights richtextbox. From what I have read silverlights richtext stores formatted text as xaml and not true rtf. Has anyone found a work around?

View 3 RepliesI have previously asked a questions regarding DataGridView control:[URL].. now I'm trying to make the first column to include an autosuggestion. ie. when a user types an ID(say, "12") then all the records that starts with it(ie. "12*") will be displayed as suggestion.
And upon clicking an ID, the corresponding product_name will be displayed on the next column. I think, I could do this using Validating() event of DataGridView.
When I run this application the 2% menu item works fine but the 5% does not. It does nothing at all. I'm stuck.

The program I am making requires the user to select what units he will be using. But it has to be able to convert his entered units and display them in the text boxes at all times during run-time. How can I get the sum all the values a user enters into TextBox1 to display that sum into TextBox2.The user is going to enter one value one by one. in my textbox will be a location like London, i want to be able to validate that it is correct by looking in my text file to see if it is there?
my textfile would be written like this:

I wish to build and display a simple diagram that is built from data entered by the user. Because I can't post a picture of the types of diagrams here I'll use the following example. Image a picture of a house as a child might draw it a large square, with a triangle for a roof, a rectangle for a door, and two smaller squares for windows. Now I want to build an application that lets the user enter data and change that drawing according. For example, by entering the length and height of the house the size changes, change the number of windows, size of the door or height of the roof.
Now this may seem like a useless application but keep in mind the house is just an example the real purpose is different but should be as simply drawn. I'm looking for suggestions on make this work. Should I use a paint? or is something like this better done with a tie into the Visio references?
