Im trying to create a program that takes an amount entered by the user and then convert it into Half Dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies when the calculate button is clicked. Each coin has its own function and is shown in separate text boxes... right now i cant get it to work correctly. When i try to get half dollars to work it rounds up and then the rest of the coins say 0. How should i do this?

I have to create a program that ask the user to enter the amount of hours work for 5 diferent projects in textboxes. The user have to enter the time he worked in minutes. Ex: 153, 280, 600, 130, 20... The total then is out putted into a textbox in this format "13 Hours and 35 Minutes" I'm having dificulties making the conversion and the separation from hours and minutes. I understand that the total is divided by 60, but if we fallow the above numbers the total hours comes out to 1183 / 60 = 19.71. So I'm having problems with the .71 mnts or digits... so from this total I have to output the total of in this particular format: "19 Hours and ?

I tried using the web browser control for the first time.The problem I had was that the size of the web browser defaulted to the size of the form. Even when I tried to downsize the webbrowser ( via properties ) it still filled the entire form. I also tried to drastically increase the size of the form( again via the form's properties ), the web browser still filled the entire form. how to create a form where the web browser only takes up half the space of the form.

The strings can be of any length as the user wants (as long as it is one word) I would like to be able to do something like this... I need to write a program in VB 2008 express that takes an user entry from a textbox and strips out all the spaces, changes it to either all upper case or all lower case then checks to see if it is a palindrome. I must also include a loop structure and a decision structure. I have seen bits and pieces of code but I do not really know how to put them together. Basically I need it from the button click to the end. ?

VISUAL BASIC 2008. Program Description: Create a program that calculates the amount of quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies are needed from an amount of change (entered in pennies). The program should use the largest coins possible (for example, fifty cents should use two quarters, not five dimes, fifty pennies, etc.)
I don't want the code already written out, I need somebody to walk me through making a code. Also, this is my first class dealing with computer programming so all we've learned so far is declaring variables and how to label objects, the simple stuff. I'm at a loss at how to start because a quarter is worth 25 but the program is supposed to show how many quarters once a user enters the amount in cents.

What my program does is load a file (password list), then progressively reads each line of text in the file whilst writing each line to a new file. After X amount of lines have been written, it should start writing the lines of text to a new document until the initial password list has been split into X amount of password lists. The problem I have is that after hours of tweaking, all I can get it to do is write either blank ocuments, or write all of the lines to only one file. I really need it to be able to split into multiple files, preferably at runtime rather than loading a whole text document into the program in a textbox or array then writing it to new files.Below is the source:

I have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. im trying to make a fast food program on which the user will input the amount that he has, then he will check on what he wants, by using check boxes. There are 7 different check boxes with 7 different amounts of money. I have the program somewhat finished (thanks for the people that helped me before) but theres still a couple of things that I still need to get finished but I dont know how to.I need to be able to get how much money the user has (this will be entered threw a text box, I think I accidentally messed this part up, because I cant get it to work right, (theres alreasy a permit amount of money in there and it needs to be what the user enters instead of the permit, 5.59, one) and this will be the maximum amount he can spend, then the user will check on the food he wants (and the program will add the sales tax also) then it will produce an answer saying if you have enough money or if you dont. But what im confused on is how do I get the users amount of money and make it the maximum mount he can spend and make sure it doesnt go over the amount that he has checked.[code]

Windows forms Application. VB .NET 4.0 In my application I have a global boolean variable that keeps track of when changes are made and when they are saved called changesSaved. On closing even it checks the value of this variable before closing the window.. I am using textchanged event to automatically change the value of changesSaved to FALSE when text is changed.. Problem: The group box items are being populated dynamically so the user can edit the values or simply just view them. This dynamic population is causing the textchanged event to fire because the program is changing the text value of the box to put the values in that are stored in the database. The textchanged event should not fire unless the user him or herself enters a value or values in the text boxes..
Is there a way to specify the source i guess you could say for the text changed event or another way so that it will only fire when the user inputs information.??? Functions are as follows: The first is called by the load event to place the values in the box... The next one is the one that is being called as a result of the first one and is also the one that is causing the problems.

I created a program that has 11 threads running simultaneously.Each thread runs a stopwatch and measures the amount of time that passes between the Start and Stop.There is no code between the start and stop, so most often, the result is 0 milliseconds.I noticed that INITIALLY, after a few minutes, the program would slow and the output to the RichTextBox would become disjointed.So, every two minutes, I have a timer execute and end the threads and restart them all.This seemed to help, however, after about an hour and a half, the program becomes more sluggish, evident in the stopwatches recording more instances over 0 milliseconds.Does this have to do with 'garbage collection' and is that even possible in VB .NET (I thought C only had that), or perhaps memory management?

Can i use the timer when the user tries to log-in and the user entered a wrong password 3 times.i will give the user 5 mins to log-in again with the correct password and if the user enters the wrong pass. 3 times again i will give another 10mins also this is what i want when the user close the program the timer is also their and running that it will give the user the remaining tym on how much tym left 4 him to log-in again.Can i do this in vb.net??i dont know how 2 do this i dont have a clue if it is possible can someone give me a code??

i have a list with dollar amounts that are strings. there are 8 separate dollar amount fields. amt1, amt2, amt3, amt4, amt5, amt6, amt7, amt8. i want to find out which amount is the largest. how would i convert each string amount to currency? i was thinking something like this:

My problem is that the variable x is an integer and the user input from the InputBox is a string so I get the error: "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversion from 'String' to 'Integer'.I've already submitted this assignment with out the first three lines of code (which allows the code to run flawlessly), but I would like to know how to get around the error while still using the Option Strict On parameter. I am aware of the ToString method but I am not sure of how to use it here or even if it will work here. I've tried to use in a few variations but none worked.

I'm trying to make a form that takes user input 3 times, and each time compares it to the correct Answer... which is an array of {"C", "D", "A"}.Each time the user's input matches the correct answer ("strCorrectAnswer()"), then I'll add 1 point to intUserScoreCounter. A couple days, I figured up a working program and it was def. faster than what we needed. Now, adding a couple more loops, the program barely uses any memory, but the cpu used spikes up to 90+ and just letting it sit doesn't help.I tried taking out the couple loops I put in, but it does not revert back to being fast. It's nothing big, but since dealing with 1000+ excel files a day, I'd rather not do that by hand.
how many infinite loops vb.net can support without dragging down the system? I know, infinite loops are poor design, but it works.
