Created An Application That Takes Grades From The User Via Input?

For a class assignment I created an application that takes grades from the user via input box and adds them to an array called grades. Here is some of the code.

My problem is that the variable x is an integer and the user input from the InputBox is a string so I get the error: "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversion from 'String' to 'Integer'.I've already submitted this assignment with out the first three lines of code (which allows the code to run flawlessly), but I would like to know how to get around the error while still using the Option Strict On parameter. I am aware of the ToString method but I am not sure of how to use it here or even if it will work here. I've tried to use in a few variations but none worked.

It is meant to average 15 user-input grades and then from there I have to provide the letter grade that corresponds with the average percent. I understand how to provide the corresponding letter grade, but I don't understand how to get the average. I've tried putting it into arraylist format

I have to create an application that lets a user enter as much grades he wants. The grades are between 0 and 100 and they can't be negative. Whenever the user type -1, the application is done and it shows the average of the grades, the lowest and the highest grades.I absolutly have no idea where to start but i must be using loop/do/while.

I'm trying to make a form that takes user input 3 times, and each time compares it to the correct Answer... which is an array of {"C", "D", "A"}.Each time the user's input matches the correct answer ("strCorrectAnswer()"), then I'll add 1 point to intUserScoreCounter. I'm wondering why this code is returning an error (hilighted in blue)? Can I not compare a String to an Array?

i developed an application which takes input from drop down list and then creates files when we click on that button for specified value in dropdownlist.And if we click on send button it sends to remote database.All the application is working fine. Can any one suggest me how to run this application without user interaction.I dont have any idea about task scheduler, people said it can be done with task scheduler.

My winforms application will display 100 different names, and I will need the user to enter a number 1 through 4 next toeach name.I will then store this data.I know I can use the spreadsheet control,but is there something much simpler that I can use? Maybe an array of textboxes or a datagrid?

I've been working on a program that takes input from a textbox, removes the punctuation, puts the words into an array (using the split method), and compares the array against a reversed copy of itself to determine if it is a word palindrome or not. I understand the logic, but I'm getting kind of caught up as far as what code to us. This is what I have so far, but no matter what I enter into the text box, nothing happens. How to create a console application which would read input from user and assign the input to a variable? The problem is, I need to enter several words on one line separated with blank spaces like "ab cd efg" and then assign ab to one variable, cd to another variable and efg to another variable. Vb is not my language of choice , but I have to do this for school and I'm not having a very easy time with VB's documentation.I'm just creating a very simple console application that accepts user input: degrees in Celsius, and converts it into Fahrenheit. I am trying to use Setup project. Want my setup to create a desktop shortcut with my application.I donot understand how to do it. Clicked on User's desktop, I created Shortcut to User's desktop, changed the properties Target and Working Folder as 'Application Folder'But it does not connect with MyApplication.exe When I ran the setup and tested Desktop short cut, it took me to the folder where application was installed, instead of running the application.How to make the application run using this shortcut?

For example: There is a textbox and the user puts in their name as Bob. I have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.

If a user clicks the blank row at the bottom of a DataGridView and moves focus away from the DataGridView, the row click in now is in a state that indicates a change is made to that row.
Is it possible to tell the DataGridView to un-mark this row as being changed?
Is it possible to reset this row when focus is off the DataGridView?
We are using the following event handler to alert the user if the Invoiced On is left blank:

I need to open a new instance of IE and direct it to a web page when a user takes a specific action.Used are random so setting anything on their machine is not an option.This works great on my local machine in developent but when deployed to my server it fails with no error.I must be missing a permission or something simple understanding that on the server things are run under the ASPNET account.My code is in a code class, myCode.We are in VS 2008 and IIS 6.Tried a couple of different things, they all fail silently.

I am creating a WPF Application that uses Fluent library.
On my computer with Windows 7, 2GB RAM and AMD Triple Core processor, after double clicking on the program icon, The Splash image shows after about 1-2 seconds.
But on my brother's old computer with Windows XP, 512MB RAM and Intel Celeron 2.0 GHz Processor (Single core), after double clicking on the program icon, First, a process called PresentationFontCache.exe runs and it uses almost 100% of CPU for some seconds. And Total time is needed for displaying the initial Splash image is almost 30 seconds (or more).
I don't want that some users have to wait 30 seconds for displaying splash image and about 7-8 seconds for loading application. (my application load process takes 7-8 seconds)

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

Im trying to create a program that takes an amount entered by the user and then convert it into Half Dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies when the calculate button is clicked. Each coin has its own function and is shown in separate text boxes... right now i cant get it to work correctly. When i try to get half dollars to work it rounds up and then the rest of the coins say 0. How should i do this?

I am working with the my.application partial class and I was trying to launch some events off of the networkavailabilitychanged event and what I have noticed is that it takes 9-10 seconds to fire that event if I disable wi-fi and pull the LAN cable on my development machine. What I would like to do is significantly shorten this duration. Something like 100ms would be great. If no, what else can I poke for a network status that will handle this response time?

I need to write a program in VB 2008 express that takes an user entry from a textbox and strips out all the spaces, changes it to either all upper case or all lower case then checks to see if it is a palindrome. I must also include a loop structure and a decision structure. I have seen bits and pieces of code but I do not really know how to put them together. I wrote an app in Visual Studio and is about 20k+ lines, but I don't know why it takes so long to start up. I have a splash screen just to test it to see if the program is working, and it is, but I have to wait for so long for the app to actually get to the start up form. A splash screen for this app isn't ideal, but was only using a splash screen for test purposes.

I'm a relatively seasoned VB (COM) vet but this is my first VB.Net application and as is my luck a web services application feeding off a site that I can't publicly mention nor can I post any code that may expose the site.
So, here's the problem. I have written a simple form and have 2 buttons. 1 button simply asks the webservice for it's version. This works no problem. I was able to load the web reference using their supplied WSDL file for this "version" class. Now that I have that working I think "GREAT, that was straight forward. I have my credentials, urls, etc working, the rest of this should be just as straight forward." (See where I jinxed myself here?)
Anyway, I move onto the next WSDL and set of classes and get that reference added no problem. (Man that took a LONG time, like 20 minutes.) I then build my "Get my order data" code syntaxes on the prescribed exposed classes and run my project just to see what errors I get. The "run" process takes almost 45 minutes to an hour..... It's as if the app is getting the WSDL set all over again but doing it over and over..... I have no clue what's going on.
I've tried to disable all the Windows 7 "potential" issues, UAC, firewall, etc, but these changes don't help. Anti virus, spyware, etc all these are off and no difference. I'm running VS2008 as an Admin, right click "run as admin", and have complete control over this machine. Any ideas, suggestions, etc are VERY welcome and I am happy to expose as much of this application as I can providing I can stay with in the rules of the confidentiality contract.

I made two applications the first one calls the other. But the other application takes time to load. Even on a fast Pc. So i was thinking of adding a loading form to it. For example when the other application is done loading the loading form goes away.
