"I need to create a program that will allow the user to enter in 10 test grades from a class. I need to store these grades into an array, and use a loop to add up the total. Then I'll need to output the average, and the letter grade for the average using:
90 - 100 A
80 - 89 B
70 - 79 C
60 - 69 D
Below 60 F"
That's all it needs to do. Here is some code that shows you that the only thing I know how to do is (allow the user to enter in 10 test grades from a class.) The rest I'm so lost on and have a crappy instructor. This assignment is due tomorrow, but the instructor is not available over the weekend.
Here is my This is all I have:
Dim MyNumbers(9) As Integer
Dim Total As Integer
Dim i As Integer

For a class assignment I created an application that takes grades from the user via input box and adds them to an array called grades. Here is some of the code.
vb.net
Option Strict On
Option Explicit On
Option Infer Off
[Code]...
My problem is that the variable x is an integer and the user input from the InputBox is a string so I get the error: "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversion from 'String' to 'Integer'.I've already submitted this assignment with out the first three lines of code (which allows the code to run flawlessly), but I would like to know how to get around the error while still using the Option Strict On parameter. I am aware of the ToString method but I am not sure of how to use it here or even if it will work here. I've tried to use in a few variations but none worked.

It is meant to average 15 user-input grades and then from there I have to provide the letter grade that corresponds with the average percent. I understand how to provide the corresponding letter grade, but I don't understand how to get the average. I've tried putting it into arraylist format

It works up to this point but when I try to add so that 70-79 is a C, 60-69 is a D, and 60 and less is a F I run in to problems.
Module Module1
Dim Average As Integer = 0
Dim Response As String = ""

Im trying to write a program that will do:
1.The average of the four numbers. This answer will be placed into a text box reserved for that value. This text box cannot be changed by the user.
2.The maximum and minimum values. These will be denoted by changing the color of the largest number green and the smallest number red.
3.The range of the numbers. The range is defined as the difference between the largest and smallest numbers. The range will be placed into its own text box, labeled as such. This text box cannot be changed by the user."
Im using visual studio 2008 and it has to be written in VB

I am taking an online class and I am having trouble getting my solution to work. My assignment is as follows: In the function, declare variables for the average score and the letter grade. Calculate the average, use If/ElseIf statements to determine the letter grade, and return the letter grade.
Create a subprocedure for the Click event for the btnDisplay button. It should call the CalculateGrade function with three arguments (the three test scores from the text boxes), and display the returned value in the lblGrade box.I have looked all over the internet and have had no luck finding an example to look at I am taking an online class and I am having trouble getting my solution to work. I am working on a simple vb project to read data from a PC serial port and write that data to a file.The data is ascii sent in Hex format. I used MySerialPort.ReadChar() to read data and MyStreamWriter.Write(MySerialPort.ReadChar()) to write it to a file.
I copied my code below, sorry about the format.The trouble is: MySerialPort.ReadChar() acts the same as MySerialPort.ReadByte() , both takes the Hex data input and returns data in decimal format.I tried to use Convert.ToChar(MySerialPort.ReadChar()) to covert decimal to char, but it's too slow.I tried decimal.ToChar(MySerialPort.ReadChar()), but VB doesn't recognize decimal.ToChar, even after I installed .NET4.
Did I do something wrong? how to make MySerialPort.ReadChar() to read Hex data and return char?

Im making a login system that encrypts and decrypts the username and password. My encryption code is:
Private Shared Function enc(ByVal targetString As String, ByVal maskvalue As String) As String
Dim Index As Integer = 0
Dim ReturnValue As String = ""
[code]....
The enc function works for both encrypting and decrypting (I've tested with a MsgBox alert. The problem I'm having is when the program loads, it reads the file and decrypts it. However, instead of properly working, it returns one character in the first textbox and nothingin the other without any error being thrown.

To have a function that takes the average (which is calculated by a different function) say for example the average is 6, now the function is to take the number 6 and get the variance from six to another number lets say its 12 so this will return a calculation of 50% variance. now here comes the issue, i have it calculating the variance how ever lets say that there is a score that is 0, how can i make it calculate the variance without taking count for that 0? i guess you can say i need it to "skip" if its a 0.

Private Sub btnCalc_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCalc.Click

OK, so I've been given an assignment due for Monday, which was to create a console program which allows the user to enter an unknown quantity of numbers, then have the Mean, Median and Mode averages displayed of said group of numbers.
So far I've managed to get the Mean and Median to work, for both odd and even quantities of variables. I am however stuck on getting it to calculate the modal average! I don't really know how to approach this, would a structure with two fields, variable and quantity of variable, work?
Below is the code, I haven't made it display discrete of continuous data yet, I'm leaving that for the end.
Module Module1
Sub Main()
Start:
'Declare Variables

I imagine this is quite elementary for most of you, I unfortunately received no replies what-so-ever to my last thread...
PS: Why isn't there an option for UK in the two letter country codes?

Dim a, b, c, d As Integer
a = t1.Text
b = t2.Text
c = t3.Text

I am new to VB and need to make a program that does the following:Write a VB.Net program that allows users to enter a series of numbers(separated by a comma) in a text box called series. When the users clicks the command button called Average, the program extracts the number one by one from the series and calculates the average, and outputs the average onto a textbox called Result.I understand how to get it to do the average, but how can I make the program count the numbers that I input and then divided by the sum? Also, how would i get it started.
