For some reason I have noticed that at run time when looking at my source of my ASP.NET page there are tags being created.
<input type="hidden" name="_VIEWSTATE" id="_viewstate" value="..lots of text.." />
and
<input type="hidden" name="_EVENTVALIDATION" id="_EVENTVALIDATION" value="..lots of text.."

I have a query string that takes the value from a text box and passes it via a query string to a different web page. I need to add a hidden imput (state=MN) but can't get it to work. Everything I have tried hasn't worked.[code]
View 7 RepliesHi I've run into a really annoying problem, I'm trying to set the value of a hidden input to a comma seperated list taken from a database but in pure CSV format it won't set the value.The input tag and ul tag looks like this (I am aware of asp:hiddenfield and it's value property but I'm not using it as I still have this issue):

This will populate the li tags but will not populate the value for the input, I've tried using the replace function on the list for the value but it only works if I remove the commas or put other characters infront of them. I've also tried replacing it with the HTML code for a comma but just prints the HTML code out.
This is probably embarrassingly easy, but I've having problems getting this to work.
On ResidentAddress.aspx, I have 2 user controls (AppName.ascx and NavButtons.ascx). Every LINQ example I have seen for VB.NET anonymous types claims I can do something like this:

Now when I go to iterate through the collection(see example below), I get an error that says "Name "x" is not declared. For Each x in Infos It's like VB.NET doesn't understand that Infos is a collection of anonymous types created by LINQ and wants me to declare "x" as some type. (Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of an anonymous type?) I have added the references to System.Data.Linq and System.Data.DataSetExtensions to my project. Here is what I am importing with the class:

I am having a problem on setting the SQL CE table column a field type. What field type does a column that only accepts only two inputs..
Example: If a table has a column named Gender..it should only accepts two types of input...like Make or Female.

My problem is that the variable x is an integer and the user input from the InputBox is a string so I get the error: "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversion from 'String' to 'Integer'.I've already submitted this assignment with out the first three lines of code (which allows the code to run flawlessly), but I would like to know how to get around the error while still using the Option Strict On parameter. I am aware of the ToString method but I am not sure of how to use it here or even if it will work here. I've tried to use in a few variations but none worked.
I just started in VB, I have created select...case statement to do some input validation.

View 7 RepliesThe code below is a very simplified version of what I'm trying to write in VB2010.BuildPictureBoxes() builds a column of 40 PictureBoxes at the left of Form1,while LoadPictureBoxes() fills the boxes with a set of green bars.if there are no other controls on Form1, the code does what I expect (builds and fills boxes). In a typical session with the program I'm writing, the user needs to be able to access the data in 1 to 500 (maybe) tables (but always only one table at a time). Up to now I've been creating these single table datasets dynamically, as and when required.I've now come across the distinction between typed and untyped datasets (where typed seems to be the recommended option). It seems, though, that typed datasets are created at design time only and not dynamically. Is this correct? Are all of my dynamically created datasets therefore untyped?

I want to Try the open workbook code, then Catch exceptions using a dialogbox as a form created programmatically at run-time. The exception handler works, but the dialog box does not display in front of the workbook. So, the user can't respond to the modal form. If at that point the Excel workbook is shrunk manually to expose the dialogBox which is then dismissed, Excel pops up a "Save Changes?" alert and the VB code does not resume the Sub at the Me.Focus() line
When the workbook Is open Excel is the active application. I think this is why the dialog box is not in front, and I don't know how to solve the problem programmatically.[code]...

I want to make a very small program where the user inputs a starting time and an ending time that is in "clock time (?)" and the program converts it to total minutes in one box and a decimal total in a second box. I have 4 textboxes, 2 are masked text boxes (military time) for input and two are not, for output and the math is coming out weird.
If I put a start time of 0925 and an end time of 1015, the results I'm expecting would be 50 total minutes and .83333 total as a decimal. I don't think I'm converting the textbox input correctly as I'm not getting anything near that. I am using a button to calculate and another to clear the boxes, just FYI. Also, I'm not sure what to do about any times that span the noon hour except to use an absolute value.

I am trying to see find out if a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time by mouse and keyboard events. I want to be able to find this from windows not my form. I am lost as to where to start. I came across this "GetLastInputInfo Function" but am not sure if that is right and/or how to use it.
