Get Filename, Filesize And Created Time In A Listbox?
Sep 14, 2009
I have a listbox that reads a certain folder and lists all the files in the folder in the listbox! This works great! but i also want to list the file size and created time of the files on the same row.Here is my code.
Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo("C: est")
ListBox1.DataSource = (di.GetFiles)
I have written some code that generates an output file from an external executable. I would like to insert the current date and time into the resulting filename. In the pi.Arguments line (shown below) the /l= creates the output file. I would like the name of the file to be Trustee_Restore_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.TXT.
Private Sub Button5_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button5.Click Dim p As New Process Dim pi As New ProcessStartInfo
[code]....
Everything works, except I would like to insert the date into the output filename.
I have a ListView w/filename, data, time and size fields. I've copied the code from this article [URL] to use in my solution. Problem is, when I click a column header the first time, it sorts, but when I click the same header a second time, to sort in reverse, the column stays in the same order as it was just sorted in.
I got some music player from the web, a cool one, and i tried to add him a playlist. i`ve change the entier interface.
I have like this - play botton - pause botton - stop button - TrackBar for song - timer for song lenght - a volume - a button for PLAYLIST.
This code is for Play:
Private Sub PlaySong() If (PlayerControl.URL <> "") Then PlayerControl.Ctlcontrols.play()
[CODE]...
It's actualy a shortcut for the button event. It checks if Url isn't empty, and if it isn't, start playing the song from that url. This is the code of the play button:
Private Sub ToolStripButton1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ToolStripButton1.Click PlaySong() End Sub
Now i`m gonna talk about the Playlist button. When you enter the exe, the playlist is Visible, when you press the button it's hidden and so on.(it's made with if then condition).
The playlist it's actualy a ListBox called lplst and has some buttons: - Add - Delete - Save - Load - Clear
I`m gonna talk about the Add button. This button pops up a dialog box to open mp3 files to that FIleBox. And it get's ONLY the FILENAME! (without the URL or Location of it) This is the code for the Add button:
Private Sub ToolStripButton7_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ToolStripButton7.Click Dim openfile As New OpenFileDialog
[CODE]...
Before , the Add button was adding JUST the location (example: C:\blabla.mp3) and when i selected it and click play, it was playing the song. But now i wanted to show only the file name. I got some code on the listbox change too.
Private Sub lplst_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles lplst.SelectedIndexChanged PlayerControl.URL = lplst.SelectedItem End Sub
This code changes the URL that plays. Depends what is the selecteditem. i browsed all the web , and i couldn't find anything.
Now the problem: I can change the Add button like this:
Private Sub ToolStripButton7_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ToolStripButton7.Click Dim openfile As New OpenFileDialog
[CODE]...
And this will link me like this: Filename - Filelocation.
But now the PlayerControl.URL = lplst.SelectedItem. code won't run the mp3 file from that location. How do i have to split the Filelocation from the Filename in the listbox?
Quick query...I'm trying to scan a long string and return any values that occur between the tags <FileName> and </FileName> I've got a bit of code here to use regular expressions to return the position of the occurunces of both substrings..Just wanted to find out if there is any way to scan for both substrings within one loop (as im currently doing 2, one for the first substring and one for the 2nd) so I can use something along these lines:
to msg box the value between the substrings...either that or another approach to return the value between the 2 substrings (it can be of variable length)
Dim patternstart As String = "<FileName>" Dim patternend As String = "</FileName>" Dim matchesstart As MatchCollection = Regex.Matches(XMLRESP, patternstart)
How would I do that? Sample code is below that demonstrated that the file I opened contained the full path and file name.
I want to extract just the path and serialize that to the user.config file as a UserSetting value. Then next time the user opens the dialog box, it uses that saved path string to go immediately to the location previously used.
If openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then Properties.Settings.Default.persistConnectionType = openFileDialog1.FileName Properties.Settings.Default.Save();
I have (using some examples) created a program which reads from a file, encrypts the content and writes it to a new file. The file can then be reopened in the program and decrypted.Now I am trying to adapt the program to split the file into pieces as specified by the user whilst it is been written to the hard drive. This also works, but when the files are read and decrypted the original file seems to be corrupted. I have been testing it using a JPG which turns out viewable, but is distorted. However the filesize is the same as the orignal after the encryption/decryption process. [code]
I have a Listview on my form with different files. I can selet a file en open it with the proces start method. To open the file i use the OpenFileDialog method and select the filename. This work very good. With the code below.
My question is if there is a method to get the selected file without using the OpenFileDialog Box. So when i dubbelclick the selected file the proces will start with open the selected file. Something like:
proc.StartInfo.FileName = Me.SelectedCell.FileName instead of proc.StartInfo.FileName = Me.OpenFileDialog1.FileName
PS) May be i can preduce the Filename using the OpenFileDialog method on the background.
Private Sub ListView1_MouseDoubleClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles ListView1.MouseDoubleClick If Me.OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then
The code below is a very simplified version of what I'm trying to write in VB2010.BuildPictureBoxes() builds a column of 40 PictureBoxes at the left of Form1,while LoadPictureBoxes() fills the boxes with a set of green bars.if there are no other controls on Form1, the code does what I expect (builds and fills boxes). On the other hand, if I add, say, a TextBox at design time, then it throws an exception:[code]I understand what the exception means, but not the reason for it. Apparently, the way that I've set up the For loop in LoadPictures doesn't differentiate between a TextBox and a PictureBox. I don't understand why, nor do I understand how to code the loop.I've searched forums and tried any number of ways to write the loop, but nothing that I've tried is free of errors. Clearly, I'm overlooking something simple. I'm not asking for code, because I don't learn anything that way. [code]
I have an ASP project which references a WCF service. Does exactly half of what I need.
A button on the page calls a function from the WCF, which returns a list of objects (variable names). When returned, the vb code dynamically adds textboxes to a panel on the page.[code]...
I created a listbox and button in my application using vb code.When the user select an item in the listbox and click on the remove button, the item will be removed from the listbox. I know how to remove the item in the listbox, but I don't know what coding to add to activate the click event on the button.
i have a Userform that I created in MS Word that automates almost half my job. I'm just looking to re-create this form in VB.Net so that I can keep up with the trends.What I did previously was load a listbox based on the contents of a data table in another word document. I've searched for other methods of creating a datasource in VB 2010 Express but I'm unsure how to load the contents of a dataset or datatable as opposed to a table from MS Word. Ideally, I'd like to abandon using Word tables and create a dataset in VB and load a listbox based on that. I do not have a copy of MS Access and I'm unfamiliar with MySql, which I'm guessing would are the easiest methods of loading a dataset. I also thought that maybe if I could create a seperate form (let's just call it form1) specifically for entering new data and saving the form as data is added, then linking the datasource from that form to a second form (form2) that has the listbox that will populate with the contents from the data in form1.
I would like to make mechanism to prevent a logfile to grow bigger than 4 Mb. Therefore I compare the filesize, get with
[Code]...
With a string value saved in the registry. Now the thing is, that sometimes a backup of the logfile is made, while the actual size is 6 Kb, and the limit as saved in the registry is 4194304. ??
Am using VB.net 2005, and I've created columns for the datagridview at design time. But when I run the code the fill method of the DataAdapter, the columns I created are not filled with data, but automatically generated columns appear. How can the columns I created at design time be filled with data?
I have a Datetimepicker, when i select a date it brings up in a listbox all the files created on that day but in no particular order. So i wanted it sorted by when they were created (not to fussed either ascending or descending). i tried using the code below with no luck, This adds multiple of blocks of the same files on the selected date
I am passing some values from a Gridview Update Click event to a popup ASP.net page that dynamically builds a series of textboxes in a Placeholder based on the number of sentences that are found in a specific cell of the Grid Row selected.The boxes that are built represent each sentence found in the cell of the selected row. Each sentence is presented for translation, where user enters data into a 2nd dynamically generated textbox.This all works great.Now I have a Listbox beside the 2nd textbox, which sometimes has 1 or more variables that need to placed into the translated sentence. I have set up a Hover menu over the listbox so that I can select the variable and insert it at the end of the sentence in the 2nd textbox. My problem is generating the click event on the dynamically created Listbox. Something like....
Protected Sub ListBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ListBox1.SelectedIndexChanged TextBox1.Text = TextBox1.Text & ListBox1.SelectedValue
In a typical session with the program I'm writing, the user needs to be able to access the data in 1 to 500 (maybe) tables (but always only one table at a time). Up to now I've been creating these single table datasets dynamically, as and when required.I've now come across the distinction between typed and untyped datasets (where typed seems to be the recommended option). It seems, though, that typed datasets are created at design time only and not dynamically. Is this correct? Are all of my dynamically created datasets therefore untyped?
I want to make an application that's pretty much all server side. I have everything sorted, apart from downloading images from my server. I have a listbox containing all the game names, in this format. pacman rallyx mspacman asteroids There are many more, that's just an example.
Each game name is stored as a folder on my server. Inside those folders is the games boxart, called boxart.png. What I want to do is make an application that makes those folders and downloads the images. I have made the "create a folder for each game name" code already, now I just need to add another line or two to download the image inside those created folders.
For x As Integer = 0 To ListBox1.Items.Count - 1 My.Computer.FileSystem.CreateDirectory("C:UsersJoelDesktopids" + ListBox1.Items(x).ToString) next
In the following code I open several Excel workbooks from within the VS 2010 .IDE. I want to Try the open workbook code, then Catch exceptions using a dialogbox as a form created programmatically at run-time. The exception handler works, but the dialog box does not display in front of the workbook. So, the user can't respond to the modal form. If at that point the Excel workbook is shrunk manually to expose the dialogBox which is then dismissed, Excel pops up a "Save Changes?" alert and the VB code does not resume the Sub at the Me.Focus() line
When the workbook Is open Excel is the active application. I think this is why the dialog box is not in front, and I don't know how to solve the problem programmatically.[code]...
Hi how's it going. In the middle of coding a banking application for a project. Part of it involves mortgage interest repayments. Was wondering if there was any way of logging the time a new record was created and added to the database and then adding interest to the balance owed periodically every 30 days..
