Mar 29, 2012Windows forms Application. VB .NET 4.0 In my application I have a global boolean variable that keeps track of when changes are made and when they are saved called changesSaved. On closing even it checks the value of this variable before closing the window.. I am using textchanged event to automatically change the value of changesSaved to FALSE when text is changed.. Problem: The group box items are being populated dynamically so the user can edit the values or simply just view them. This dynamic population is causing the textchanged event to fire because the program is changing the text value of the box to put the values in that are stored in the database. The textchanged event should not fire unless the user him or herself enters a value or values in the text boxes..
Is there a way to specify the source i guess you could say for the text changed event or another way so that it will only fire when the user inputs information.??? Functions are as follows: The first is called by the load event to place the values in the box... The next one is the one that is being called as a result of the first one and is also the one that is causing the problems.

Ex. the month of April, the number of days is only 1 to 30. What if the user will enter the date range of 4/1/2011 to 4/31/2011 in the mask textbox? I am using Mask textbox because datetimepicker will not accept empty value and it cannot be empty either.
I'm asking this because I encountered an error when querying in MS SQL SERVER 2005. It says "The conversion of char data type to smalldatetime data type resulted to in an out-of-range smalldatetime value." I thought it was the casting or conversion problem. I've observed the SQL when transacting and I found no difference with my code.
So then, I just figured it out that my date exceeded the number of days of the April month.

SSN Checking Entered Based On Reversed Range
Jan 13, 2009I have a need to verify SSN's that are entered based on a reserved range (these are used for advertising and will never become valid). The input is from a masked text box formatted as 000-00-0000. I may be wrong, but I figured the most logical method would be to remove the hyphens and convert the string to an integer, then compare the starting point and end point of the range.

VS 2010 Results Displayed After Checkbox + Date Range Entered?
Jun 3, 2012I am trying to make a Windows Form in VS 2010 that is used to determine whether someone is entitled to a prize/medal/award whatever you want to call it. So basically if someone clicks on a check box to say they attended an event and they enter a date range between saying they attended the event between 01/01/2010 - 01/02/2010 and the requirement for the award is that they attended the event for more than 20 days then because the statement is true I would want a box to pop up and say person is entitled to receive a particular award. There are multiple awards available based on different conditions so to be eligible for so the result would be dependent upon which boxes and date ranges are selected.So For Award1 the logical argument is something along the lines of
IF Event1CheckBox = Checked AND
Attendance => 20
Result = Entitled to Receive Award1 Else = Not Entitled To Receive Award1

What i want to run is that if i press the "execute" button, it will look for a word than can be create using these letters ( e.g COMPUTE )

If the user enters a negative value, the application should display an error message. I believe I have to use a loop condition but I have no idea what to do.
EX: User enters 10 in the input box once OK button is pressed a message box pops up and says "The sum of the numbers 1 through 10 is 55". Use the following test data to determine if the application is calculating properly
