Validate Some Data From The User And Their Corresponding Value?

Dec 2, 2010

I would like to kindly ask if there is a dictionary in vb.net?

I would like to validate some data from the user and their corresponding value.

e.g.

2 = ABC
6 = MNO
6 = MNO
7 = PQRS
8 = TUV
8 = TUV
3 = DEF

if the user had input the numeric data on textbox1, then the alpha phrase will show on textbox2.

What i want to run is that if i press the "execute" button, it will look for a word than can be create using these letters ( e.g COMPUTE )

Then it will display the word "COMPUTE" on textbox3.

Is there a function or method i could use to do that?

VS 2010 DataTable And GridView / Validate When User Enters Something

Oct 5, 2011

I'm playing with XML, DataGridView control, DataSet and DataTable. [code] the user can edit/add records via DataGridView control. So, when the user enters a string value where it is expected to give an integer value(first column and third column), it would give a big error message. Instead of showing that, I would like to apply custom validations.

Forms :: Generating Custom Code For A Windows Form From User Input

Mar 30, 2009

I am trying to figure out how to generate code from user input. In Visual Studio 2008, Visual Basic.My script always begins with:function Init (Quest)Then from here a user would input a quest name, type and zone in a interface using windows forms.[code]I would also like to have these available on the UI but wont generate unless a user checks a box to add them or there is a box already for them but wont step into the code unless the user enters something into the box.Is there anyone that can explain how I would go about doing this. Or maybe some kind of visual studio plugin that will help me out.

VS 2008 - Generating Custom Code For Windows Form From User Input

Mar 30, 2009

How to generate code from user input. In Visual Studio 2008, Visual Basic. My script always begins with:

Code:
function Init(Quest)
Then from here a user would input a quest name, type and zone in a interface using windows forms.
Ex:
Code:
RegisterQuest(Quest, "Kill Zombies", "Heritage", "Firestorm")
end
This part a user would enter in his interface what would an NPC say if accepted.
[Code] .....

What I need is a few text boxs that a user can input "Kill Zombies" or whatever they like and when they push a generate button it will create a file with a .quest extension. All of the code remains the same except for the quotes that would be the user input from the interface. Basically everything in quotes can be changed by the user in an interface. I have created my own functions for when a user accepts, deny and complete a quest. The user just needs to input what should happen then click a generate button to throw it all together as a .quest file to be saved in his or her quest folder for the server to call on later.

I also have many other functions like:
AddQuestRewardFaction --- (Quest, Faction ID, Amount)
AddQuestRewardCoin --- (Quest, Copper, Silver, Gold, Plat)
AddQuestStepObtainItem --- (Quest, Step ID, Description, Quantity, Percentage, TaskGroupText, Item ID(s))
Etc

I would also like to have these available on the UI but wont generate unless a user checks a box to add them or there is a box already for them but wont step into the code unless the user enters something into the box.

Validate User Input - Loop Conditional Statements To Indicate Errors?

Mar 20, 2011

I have several text boxes I need to validate. I am not understanding how to validate in Visual Basic 2008. So I deployed standard If Statements to handle bad data. I am having two problems.

Lets say the user entered wrong data, example, numbers; an error message is displayed. The text boxes cannot contain numbers, be left empty or contained characters, like !@#$. The problem is if the user enter text, and then entered a wrong data again the code does not work or display error message. How can I make the conditions so that they throw out error message even if the user had previously entered good data.

Another example: If the user enter good data in text box 1 and bad data in text box 2, the error message does not work.

Finally, how do I filter out characters to allow only text. Is there a way to use this code on multiple text boxes with out writing the entire code for each form control?

Here are the conditional statements.
Private Sub btnDataSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDataSubmit.Click
If IsNumeric(txtDataEntry.Text) Then
lblErrorDisplay.Text = "Invalid Name!"
lblErrorDisplay.BackColor = Color.Red
[Code] .....

Conflict Between Paint And Horizontal Scroll Event Handlers In Windows Form User Control

If you click on any of the Edit Buttons and move the Horizontal Scroll, the values as they change in the Label_Values are off by one when you release the slider button. Sql - Windows Form Not Getting Updates From Database?

I have even created a form that can add a new entry to the table im using.The first form has a ComboBox that list the PlayerNames in my table.
