I'm having some problems understanding how this may work. This program is supposed to give convert 1-255 from Decimal to Octal, Hex, and Binary and display them in the outputTextBox with the headers listed as such (above). I can't seem to get the headers to show up correctly and using the book example only gets me this error "Items' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.TextBox'".

Create a variation of this program that allows the user to specify any starting whole number and any ending whole number (10,000 or lower) and then adds all the whole numbers in that range. Allow for the possibility that a user may start with a high number and end with a low number. Format the label so that commas are displayed and there are no decimal places showing. This is what I have so far, and I'm not completely sure if this is even right, but I can't figure much else out. I've talked to other people who know about this and they aren't sure how to go about it, and my book isn't a big help either.

View 12 RepliesSo the server I am running has a database of players equipment, I am trying to write a program to see if they are hacking by comparing the item requirement with the stats the player has, to do this I need to convert the varbinary(512) column from the SQL Database too a Hexadecimal string, then from that string remove certain parts of it.
Example:This is the hexadecimal code for an item:

the part I need is "4400" numbers (Position 3,4,5,6 from start) I then need to flip these backwards so it reads "0044". I then will compare this itemIDX with a list of items I have set aside that people mainly use this hack for.
So the main things I need help with, are converting varbinary(512) to hexadecimal and then making my program bring a list of accountID's up who are using the hack, here is how the databases are set out:

Contains account data ONLY
Game:
Contains the Character and Equipment DB
i need to compare the equipmentDB, then return the CharacterID from the equipmentID, compare that ID with the CharacterID in CharacterDB, then extract the accountID then return the account name from the accountDB I don't know how the binary is split up from item too item, although I would imagine, it isn't, i would have thought it just goes onto the next item when the item ends.Although, all the items start with hex string "0x" so this may be the separator!
What would be the code to validate a textbox so that it can only accept positive numbers and a decimal point? If no value is entered, it automatically enters 0.

View 12 RepliesThis program, it reads in a file, and displays it in hexadecimal, like using a hex editor. It then goes to compare the strings and whatnot, and display certain values. During the program, there is a time where I need to display a set of offsets as decimal because that is the way that it is shown regularly.
Taking the two specific offsets and displaying them in hex ends up giving me something like "3039" or "000A", which should respectively convert to 12345 or 00010. This "ID" that I am converting, can be 00000 to 65535, which in hex is 0000 to FFFF. The current method I was given only works if the value is less than 512 or something like that.

So, I gathered a File class is provided, but looking at its methods list in the Help page, I see no method for writing individual bytes (and the Write methods seem to close the file after writing).
How can I write a byte array into a file, keep it open and repeat this as necessary?
I have a program that allows a user to input numbers from an inputbox and it displays the Total numbers entered, the sum of the numbers entered, and the average of the numbers entered. What I can not seem to find it how to have it display the largest number entered. The code I have so far is,

I am making a program, where the user enters 6 numbers in 6 different text boxes, and it displays the larger of those 6 numbers. But I also want to make it where if the user enters a string value (like S for instance) in the text boxes, it gives an message and says "please enter the numbers again" and the user gets to enter the 6 numbers again. But when I do try to do that, it gives an error message saying conversion from "w/e the user entered" to Double is not valid. If the user just enters the numbers, it works fine. However, I am trying to make it if the user does enter non numeric value, it gives a message window and the user can reenter the numbers again.

This is where I am trying to use IsNumeric to show a message if a user does not enter a string so the user can renter the numbers again, but when the user does enter a string value (say in textbox 1) it gives me an error message saying conversion from "S" to 'double' is not valid.

Then right here this is where I have my series of ifs statements, this part works fine, it displays the largest numbers of the 6 textboxes every time. Error free.

And do this with variable number 2, 3, 4, 5.
I know there are easier ways to do these with arrays and stuff. But I am not there yet. I am still learning about ifs and stuff.
