Graphics.RotateTransform For Vertical Aligned Text
May 12, 2011
I'm using the following calls in a vertical label control: (borrowed from another project)[code]But if any of the text characters are a V or W there are funny jagged artifacts in those letter's angled lines. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried looking up anti-aliasing etc.. but aside from changing the smoothing mode to antialias I couldn't find anything (changing this doesn't help a bit)

I got a graphic that I got to rotate about a specific point. So, I got to define the centerX and centerY, the point about which to rotate. For that, I am importing the namespace: "system.windows.media.rotatetransform"The following problem then arises when the above namespace gets underlined with a green curly line and when I place the mouse over it, the following message is displayed:"Namespace or type specified in the Imports'System.Windows.media.rotatetransform' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespae or type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases."

I have an application that makes a drawing with measurements both horisontal and vertical. I like to get the vertical measurements to be in direction down-up, not up-down direction as StringFormatFlags.DirectionVertical does. All the measuretexts are drawn to a graphics path. Because that path includes all measures at different locations I can´t TransformRotate that path, the text should be rotated before it is passed to the graphics path, or ? It would be so nice if it would be a StringFormatFlags.DirectionVerticalUp to handle it.

I've got a program which displays data in a listbox in five columns. All are separated using one or more ControlChars.Tab. I want to write these columns to a text file, however, when I do, my columns lose their alignment. I can change alignment so that it displays nicely in text file, but then it is off in list box. Is there a way to get what I see in my listbox to display the same way in a text file - maybe a different way of separating my columns (not using ControlChars.Tab)?

I have a wrapper class created around TextBox, and I want to find out if there is any way to test if the vertical scroll bar is at the beginning (the very top) of the text box and at the very end of the text box.Alternatively, I will be happy if only I can find out a way to check if a scroll bar is enabled or not in a textbox (note: it's not a RichTextbox).
By enabled, I mean that scroll bar is actually enabled i.e. you can use the scroll bar to scroll the control, not just visible (I know we can check visibility by GetWindowLong)

I am trying to create a graph with a (possibly multiline) caption for the Y axis printed in a vertical orientation using TranslateTransform and RotateTransform.I am having no success and have no idea what I am doing wrong. The program is over 11,000 lines and so I am including what I think are the relevant bits of code below. The program is being written in Visual Basic 2008.I consider myself to be at an elementary level in Visual Basic.[code]And from there I can paste it into my document. The caption for the Y axis is there, but it is not translated or rotated.

What I've got are a series of lines with segments. For example, I might have a line which is normally going from (100,100) to (100,200). This line also has segments in it (drawn over the top in a different colour) going from (100,110) to (100,120); (100,120) to (100,150) and (100,150) to (100,190).Now I might need to rotate this line at a certain angle - say 16 degrees around the top point (100,100). I need both the line and the segments rotated.

My rich text box overflows with output during execution, thus activating a vertical scroll bar. When the program ends the created text box information disappears.I have tried a message box prior to exiting the program to stop execution but then nothing responds until the message box is A instruction doesnt accomplish my goal either. I see nothing in the text box properties window which looks like it would do the trick and no luck with Googling for info so far.

I would like to have the tabs on my TabControl displayed on the left, or sometimes right. Unlike the System.Windows.Forms.TabControl, however, I would like the text to remain horizontal instead of being rotated by 90 or 270 degrees to the horizontal. Here are a couple of pictures illustrating the concept. Though I could write code to do this myself in about an hour or two, I just thought I'd ask first if there is any existing Winforms control that implements such feature.

I've tried the following but they weren't what I needed/required things I did not use [URL] flowing left to right, not top to bottom [URL] figure out how to implement it. Here's my dilema: I have labels that are dynamically created placed into a table layout. I need the text within these labels to be centered vertically.

vb.net 2010 development environment, Windows XP.
My application displays a data entry screen consisting of rows and columns of text boxes and combo boxes.
Photo attached.
all the controls are created and placed on the form in code.
On a Windows XP machine (where the application is developed) all the controls line up perfectly. However, on a new Windows 7 machine, the result is as pictured in the attached photo. It seems that the combo boxes are slightly taller than the text boxes.
I have adjusted the .height property of the combo boxes, as well as text boxes, but to no avail.
Both the XP machine and the Win7 machine have different screen resolutions. Is that a possibility, and if so, is there a way to size the controls in a resolution-independent way?

I can find lots of examples of rotated text on graphics objects on a Google search, but I want to create a vertical caption but with normal letter orientation, something like this:
C
A
P
T
I
O
N
but with sensible spacing and alignment. I can't seem to get my search terms right to find a suitable example. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm working on a VB.NET application using VS2010 for an application that will run on a touch-screen. I have a problem with a mutli-line text boxes, ListBoxes and DataGridView controls which contains a vertical scroll bar. The scroll bar is too small for anyone with big fingers. Is there any way to make that scroll bar wider so that it's more "finger friendly"?

I am working on a TAFE assignment right now - the project itself is done, so what I am asking is actually not part of the graded component, it is for my own benifit and learning. The issue is I have a ListBox which needs to output for varibles on each line - that part is working nicely, what I want to know is there a way to set the tabs or spacing so no matter how long the varible it - the next coloum is alway neatly aligned with it?

How to format by padding left and right. I have two integers, two strings, and another integer that I need to align neatly in columns. There is a total of about 100 columns, and they have to be neatly aligned.
Here is my code:
Console.Writeline(num1.ToString().PadRight(5) + num2.ToString().PadRight(5) + str1.PadLeft(20) + str2.PadLeft(20) + num3.ToString().PadRight(5))
How do I pad it correctly so the columns can be neat and aligned.

I am using the e.graphics.drawstring to print labels and textboxes. One of the labels is "#". Whenever I print, although it is centered in its label on the screen, the text in the label aligns to the left. Is there a way to get it to center? This is happening with all my textboxes and labels.
e.Graphics.DrawString(lblNumber.Text, lblNumber.Font, Brushes.Black, 9, 55)

I have a vb2008 combo box with the DropDownStyle property set to DropDownList. Now, when I set the text property to something programatically nothing happens. That is, the "something" doesn't show up on the control with list collapsed. It still doesn't show even if I force an update(If DropDownStyle property is set to DropDown, setting the text property programatically works fine, even without forcing an update).

I want my Richtext box to be populated with a text string that contains HTML-style tags to set colour, underline etc. When I try to remove the tags using .cut(), the first cut always works, the second cut only sometimes. Here's a sample to test it:Create a new project and add a button and a richtext box.Add the following code:
Code:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim testString As String = "ABC<R>DEF</R>GHIJKL"
[code]....
This code works fine. The text between the tags is turned red, then the tags are removed. Now rem out the msgbox line and run again.Sometimes it works, sometimes the second cut fails with no message or warning.I am using Visual Basic 2010
Visual Studio 2010 v 10.0.30319.1
.NET framework v 4.0.30319

I have a rich text box with images and the formating all setup right. I am tyring to print them to the default printer. I think I am on the right track but need some direction.
Private Sub PrintDocument1_PrintPage(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Drawing.Printing.PrintPageEventArgs) Handles PrintDocument1.PrintPage
Dim fnt As New Font("Arial", 8, FontStyle.Regular, GraphicsUnit.Point)
e.Graphics.DrawString(rtbReceipt.Text, fnt, Brushes.Black, 0, 0)
e.HasMorePages = False
End Sub
This prints only the text in rtbReceipt, but no images and no format.

I want to draw a text with 32 bit transparency on a graphics object. When I try, I only get black color in the result.
If I try to draw a line with the same semitransparent color, it works perfectly.
I have this code:
lBitmap As New Bitmap(32, 32, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb)
lGraphic As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(lBitmap)
lGraphic.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.HighQuality
[Code]...
I was thinking it may be that SolidBrush does not support transparency, but I found a predefined brush named Transparent (Brushes.Transparent) that was a SolidBrush when I looked at it in debug. I tried to use Brushes.Transparent as the brush when drawing the text, and it was successfully not showing at all. That means I get full transparency to work, but not partial transparency.

I'm in an upper level industrial engineering class in which we're learning some entry level VB programming. We're working on building a program to solve the travelling salesmen problem (finding the shortest path through a collection of cities while visiting each only once) and I'm trying to add some 'fancy' to it so I can learn some more skills. The basic program is designed to load a bitmap file of a map into a picture box and a text file with the xy coordinates of any city positions. From there, the user can plot the cities with red squares, draw a random tour through the cities, or tour the cities by always visiting the nearest neighbor not yet visited. The modification I'm working on is a method of pointing out a specific city with a black square by entering the city's number (determined from the coordinate file) into a text box.
Private Sub TxtFindCity_textchanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TxtFindCity.TextChanged
Dim ObjFindCity As Graphics = picShowMap.CreateGraphics
Dim City As Integer
[Code]...
So far, the program works, but I want the black squares (but none of the other graphics) that are created to go away once the text box is cleared. As of now they just hang around on the screen until I refresh the entire image with a 'clear map' sub. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

I have a loop that reads text files. If search criteria matches, then the matching data is inserted into a text box along with a link that links directly to the text file. The code to create the link looks like this:
String.Format("<a href=""{0}"">Click to open File</a>", strLogFilePath)
The only problem is it is not showing as a link in the rich text box. Instead it appears as the following: (NOTE: I removed the actual file path for privacy reasons)
<a href="file path">Click to open File</a>
The 'DetectUrls' property is set to true. I even copied the result line from the text box into a text file then saved as an '.htm' file and verified the link works.
