I have a program that uses a database for all of its information. The program is just an easier way to understand all of the information.The user uses 1 of 4 search options (FName, LName, MemberID or Startdate). Depending on what they search for depends on which members are displayed in a data grid view.
Upon selecting the desiered member from the data grid view, information about them is then displayed. This information has been split up over 3 tabs called member information, Attendence and payment history.
That all works great. So I now go to the Attendence Tab and wish to update this members attendence by selecting a date from the date time picker, and select the Add attendence button.This also works fine, the attendence is update but the attendence data grid view is not updated automatically.
I have to select the member from the first data grid view to run the code to refresh the members information.So I thought, call the PopulateAttendenceHistory Private sub again and have it update the data grid view... but it still doesnt work.
Name: RyDeR (RyDeR is what I typed in the Textbox) Age: 17 (17 is what I typed in the Textbox) But now I have another Textbox but I want that this textbox automatic changes with what I type in the first boxes. Example:

I have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.

It's job is to scroll the textbox (txt_folderactivity) after I update the text box with a new entry. The textbox is multi-line, so this keeps us at the bottom so we can see the new stuff. This sub gets called whenever any of the other subs add a line for things like file rename, deletion, etc. based on file system events (using Public watchFolder as FileSystemWatcher).I had a crossthread issue with just updating the textbox, but I wrote in a Delegate /Invoke for that and it works fine (something I found online earlier this morning), but now I have another issue and I'm not sure how to work it.
I'm getting a crossthread issue with this specific Sub specifically at the SelectionLength, and I'd like to set it up with a Delegate and Invoke and such, but I don't know how specifically. I've searched and read, but I don't get it. Do I need a seperate invoke on each of the 3 lines, or is there an overarching Invoke for the whole bit I'm still new-ish to VB and I don't know how to proceed. Windows Forms, VB application... Forgive me in advance for this very elementary question but I am overlooking something really simple here. I would like to have a label show the current value of a variable as the for each loop runs.. I created a very simple Button Click event to figure out where its failing. As it is right now the value does not display until after the for each loop finishes running, which it should actually display the counter value each time it runs through... However the items in the list that the listbox is bound to are not all String types. Some are DateTime and a few are Integers. I would like to have a datetimepicker displayed instead of a textbox for the DateTime types. How can I make this happen.To clarify some points the list is populated at runtime using reflection so I don't know which fields are what types ahead of time.

View 5 RepliesI am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.

View 3 RepliesVisual Basic 2010 Express: I have a form with a combobox that is populated with the names of locations from a datagrid which in turn was imported at run-time (Form_Load) from an Excel database. The Excel database (and the datagrid) also stores the information for addresses and phone numbers for their respective locations.
What I would like to do is have the phone number and address text boxes automatically be updated with the proper corresponding data when the user selects a location from the combobox. Whether the text boxes are updated from the datagrid or Excel database is not a concern; I'm mainly looking for whichever way is simpler.
I want a textbox to have autocomplete. I want the completion to be based off of text that has been previously entered into the textbox. My method of saving seems to work but when i close the program and re run it the autocomplete suggestions arent there anymore.
