I want gridview to display all rows which contains textbox.text.
I am trying to filter a ListBox based on the presence of a string. Basically, if there is a ListItem that doesn't contain the string then I want to remove all ListItems that do contain the string. Here is what I have tried:

View 5 RepliesI am looking to find the best way to do the following: Filter data based on the drop down filters, as long as I am within the same product category (e.g. toys, puzzles, etc...), but in different web forms (product grid and product detail).So if I select toys under $25, I need the filter to the toys in a grid format, but if I click to view the detail I need the filter information so I can filter the related items display.Display certain filters depending on the product category.Right now I believe that if I build a user control and session variables that I should be able to accomplish this.
EDIT: Right now I am using the page_load event to update the data and would like to avoid AJAX for right now.
I currently have a massive list of names and want to narrow it down via a filter from a listbox. However the items in the list that the listbox is bound to are not all String types. Some are DateTime and a few are Integers. I would like to have a datetimepicker displayed instead of a textbox for the DateTime types. How can I make this happen.To clarify some points the list is populated at runtime using reflection so I don't know which fields are what types ahead of time.

I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.
View 1 RepliesVisual Basic 2010 Express: I have a form with a combobox that is populated with the names of locations from a datagrid which in turn was imported at run-time (Form_Load) from an Excel database. The Excel database (and the datagrid) also stores the information for addresses and phone numbers for their respective locations.
What I would like to do is have the phone number and address text boxes automatically be updated with the proper corresponding data when the user selects a location from the combobox. Whether the text boxes are updated from the datagrid or Excel database is not a concern; I'm mainly looking for whichever way is simpler.

I have a datagridview that's taking a while to load because my table contains almost 5000 records. How can I provide an easy way for clients to filter the grid based on a product name. I was thinking of having labels with each alphabet on my form and when they click a label it filters the bindingsource according to the chosen alphabet. this seems like an awkward solution though.

This is are the parts of my system where my problem occurs:
- Search Button
- List Box1
- TotalTextbox
- Button
- SQL Database with a Column named "Amount" and it only contains numbers Datatype is System.String
So, basically a user clicks the Search button and searches for a data in the SQL Database, and the result of the search displays in different Listboxes including the "Amount" Column from the database, which has it's own Listbox named "Listbox1". the Listbox is now filled with numbers.
Goal: The goal is to get the Sum of all the "Numbers" Displayed in the Listbox1, and the Total is then Displayed into a Textbox via using Click event or automatically.
The Code:

And i got this Error: Conversion from type 'DataRowView' to type 'Double' is not valid.
I ended up with this..

TotalTextBox.Text = sum.ToString
But the values are not adding up, the total is always at 0. i've been searching for hours now from the net to a better way of doing this.
Here's a quick Flow on what im trying to accomplish here. Record from Database -----Displays on---> Listbox1 -----User Clicks--> Button1 ----Displays Total sum on----> Textbox1

I have to enter certain values in a particular column in datagridview and continue with my calculations.At this stage I wan to save my file with the data I have entered so far.
