VB: Getting Checkboxes On Windows Form To Check If Their Values In A Database Field Is Check (True)

May 10, 2011

This is my problem.I have a field set up in MS Access to Boolean YES/NO, this field is populated when the user check a checkbox on a windows form. If the user check a checkbox, the value is written as checked in the data field (MS Access). The problem is when I search for the user information, I need the information from the Data base to populate(return) to the windows form. Example: If I enter a users phone number and the user data is present, the form gets populated with the information the user previously entered which was store in the database.Example: If the user selected checkbox1 and submits the form. When I search for the user info, the check box should check(populate) because the user had checked it on submit. Here is what I have done:

[code]...

I am getting the check value correctly in the database using a Boolean. Here is one of the errors I am getting. Unable to cast object of type

'System.Boolean' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.CheckBox.I am having trouble putting the codes in a code tag or block

.net - Asp.net Dynamic Checkboxes?

Mar 19, 2010

I have an asp.net page which a user types in a "search" box, the code behind functions/subs etc produce a list of users matching the search criteria. In front of all the users returned in the search results, I have codded a html checkbox. Under the list of results, there is an "email users" button...

so.. I want to be able to click a number of checkboxes beside the results and then click on "email users" button which should take me to another page with email functionality so an email can be sent to all the previously selected users My confusion is over getting the "selected" user list from the results into the email page.

Because the checkboxes are manually coded within the code-behind file (ie the code basically generates a bit of html and pushes it into a label "placeholder", so I dont get any control functionality to get the checkboxes using the vb code, or can I?

Asp.net - .NET Checkboxes Checking?

May 14, 2012

I have a form which contains a checkbox field. On page load I want to create a separate checkbox for each customer in my Database. The code I have to create the checkboxes for each customer works fine. However, I also want to check in the database if the customer is set to unauthorized if they are then I want to check there box. I also have code for the case where the user checks a box. If a box is checked I update the database setting the unauthorized attribute to true. My problem is when I check a box it works fine and the box is checked, however if I reload the page all the boxes are unchecked. So either my database update is not updating the database or the way I check on page load for checked boxes is incorrect. Any ideas?

The code for the asp checkbox field:

<asp:CheckBoxList id="check1" AutoPostBack="True" TextAlign="Right" OnSelectedIndexChanged="Check" runat="server">
</asp:CheckBoxList>

The Code for the page load:

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim sql As String = "SELECT Name, unauthorized, ID FROM Customer ORDER BY Name"
Dim dt As DataTable = db.execDataTableQuery(sql, "Customer")

Group Box With Checkboxes?

Nov 27, 2011

Using VB

Say I have five checkboxes in a groupbox. I want to run an if then statement where if all boxes are not checked I would perform a certain action. I currently have it set to work using code similar to this

If box1.Checked = False And box2.Checked = False And box3.Checked = False And box4.Checked = False And box5.Checked = False Then
End If

Is it possible to reference the entire groupbox has having a false boolean property?

While doing this is managable - what if I had more check boxes?

How To Get Checkboxes To Work

Looping Through Checkboxes?

Apr 20, 2011

On a form I have a series of 20 checkboxes (cbS1 through cbS20). With that I have an integer named 'Count'

What I need to do: When the forms loads it will get a value for Count. I need all the checkboxes that are greater than this value to be checked.

So if count = 7 then cbS8 through cbS20 will be checked.

Im not really sure the best way to code this is. I know I can do it with a giant case statement...but there has got to be a better way right?

Using Checkboxes In Datatables?

Jan 18, 2012

I have a datatable with a yes/no checkbox in it and when I filter my datasource it loads form2. Right now I'm using this code to have a label's color as green if it's checked and red if it isn't:

Private Sub Customers2BindingSource_CurrentChanged(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Customers2BindingSource.CurrentChanged
If ActiveCheckBox.Checked = True Then
Label1.Text = "Active"

[code].....

That works when I do something like bindingsource.movenext because it's in the bindingsource_currentchanged event, but when I try adding that to the form_load it's automatically set to Inactive, color red. I figured it's because is set to checked = false, but what event do I use to make this work when the form loads?

What's the value of a checked checkbox for the update/delete/insert commands? Like dates are DateDateTimePicker.Value.Date. Is it something like this?

.AddWithValue("@Active", ActiveCheckBox.Checked)

I don't use checkboxes to often.

Add Text In A List Box Via Checkboxes?

Mar 22, 2010

what i need to do is to add text in a list box via checkboxes. For example if a check box is checked, then a certain text (e.g. "Flea Treatment") gets added to the list box. In my project there are around 15 checkboxes, and not all of the may be clicked. So what I want to do is, when there are values in the list box (Only words!) then I press the Save button and all the values (i.e. all the treatments, e.g. Flea, de-worming, myxomotosis) inside the list box are saved to my database. The table inside the database, is called tblNotes, and has only 4 fields, one of which is a unique ID field, which is the primary key; the other field is the one where I want the values inside the list box, to be saved. As for the other two, they are for standard textboxes, with a fixed length, they are already working. My problem is this: The list box won't save to the database, and I want to know how I could save it. This is the code I have for saving it to a database (btnSave):

Private Sub btnSaveNotes_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSaveNotes.Click
'The purpose is to save the changes made to the record on the screen
'Check if compulsory fields don't contain data, show error message and place cursor back in field[code].....

Unbound Checkboxes In DataGridView?

Jun 21, 2010

I'm working on a project where I've loaded a database into a DGV. I also have an additional unbound checkbox column for the users to select entries with. I have code in place to read the selected rows and save them into a CSV string, which is then saved in the usersettings. All this works fine.

PROBLEM AREA:
I'm trying to reverse this effect so that when the DGV loads, the checkboxes that the user selected previously are checked (and the others left unchecked). I've debugged this extensively, and using watches have confirmed that all the values in the loops are right, and the conditionals are all kicking correctly, but it seems the code I'm using to actually check the boxes doesn't work. I've searched dozens of web pages, msdn white papers, and forums, but no suggestions will check the darned box. Below is some example code.[CODE...]

In debugging, it seems the value for the Cells IS changed, but the checkbox never gets selected. The try/catch was just to pick any error messages (but there are none with this code). What am I doing wrong here?

.net - Checkboxes To Indicate Inclusion In A List?

Jan 25, 2011

I have two tables, called Machine and Type. Since they have a many-many relationship, I have a MachineType resolution table in my DB. No problem. The end user needs to be able to manage these - create new types and assign them to machines. I have an XtraGridView that I am using to display the Machine as master and Type as detail.

Initially I used a Lookup to add Type dropdowns to the MachineType detail view. But that creates duplicates and is not the best way to display this information. I'd like a series of checkboxes (one for each Type options available) so the user can click the appropriate ones for each machine, thus avoiding duplicates.Upon saving, the appropriate MachineType rows can be generated.

I was going to just code this manually but if there's some kind of binary collection mapping in either DevExpress or the .net framework I can use, I'd prefer that than to reinvent the wheel.

EDIT: This is what I mean. From this thread. However, they store it as a collection (a string delineated by commas) and not a series of DB rows.
