Have Program To Give Response When 2 Keys Are Pressed?
Sep 4, 2011
I am wondering on how to write the code such that the program will respond when 2 arrow keys are pressed at the same time. In other words, I would like to have the program to behave like a racing game.
I have a problem detecting whether one of the arrow keys is pressed, all the other keys seem to be detected apart from the arrow keys??? I have set key preview to True........ It detects the arrrow keys BUT ONLY if I have NO other controls on the form??? example..
Me.Text = e.keycode
It works, but then if I add a button for example, it stops.
how one would be able to detect what keys are pressed. The problem is i want this done while my application is running in the background. There are alot of examples of doing it when yu are is what you are busy with. My scenario. I have an app process running in the background hidden. The when i press ctrl and t as an example i would like my form displayed.
I have been searching the forums but I keep finding ways to cause events to occur when a key is pressed. I'm trying to get a true/false if the "ctrl" + "L" keys are pressed when the form loads so it know whether to show itself or close
vb.net Private Sub MainWindow_PreviewKeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Input.KeyEventArgs) Handles Me.PreviewKeyDown If Keyboard.IsKeyDown(Key.A) AndAlso Keyboard.IsKeyDown(Key.LeftCtrl) AndAlso
[Code].....
How can I call my Button1.Click event on the 3 keys being pressed???
im working on a little app for my self, to make my life a little more convenient. I have some media keys on my laptop, and I would like to use them with itunes while it is minimized. I found a app that did it for me a long time ago, but cant seem to find it now. But I would like to try my hand at my own, and I've managed to do so, but, my app has to be in focus for it to work. is there any way to still detect when these media keys are pressed while my app is out of focus?
i want my program to understand what i push the key "+" for example and do something. i can write this "something" but i dont remember how to make it see when i push the keyboard keys (NOTICE: i want the program to see the keyboard keys even if the program is minimized and another program is maximized)
First of all let me say that while I was knowledgeable enough to create my program using VB-10 express I am by no means fluent in 'programming' speak .. so if you choose to help me please don't use technical jargon.. just explain as if you are talking to a 6 year old ..
Anyways I would like to give my program to some friends either by Email or via the internet (I have a website [url] (it is a wordpress blog) but I have no clue as to how I would get it onto my site.
I have attempted to Email the files .. first I had to change the file extension because Email would not send an .EXE file.. Then I tried to ZIP the files and send them via WINZIP but my recipients kept getting 'unable to open file' messages.
I am making a Tetris program and I have a 2d array 10 by 20 for the grid.I want the Tetris blocks I have created to move down one block every second unless the user presses "a" or "d" (to move left or right) then the block should move left or right whilst moving down. The problem is that I have created a loop for it to delay a bit but then it waits for the user to press a key until it continues the program. So the block will stop moving down and just stay where it is until they press something.I have been told that you can do this in C with something like if keyboardhit or kybd() or something then it will read the key but otherwise it will just skip that bit and loop round. So how can I do this in VB?
I need this program to allow me to enter 12 temperatures and give me an average. I have everything working correctly ( I think) except where the average should be I get 0.0. Not sure if it matters but I'm using VB 2005.

I have an application that the main screen currently has all exit functionality removed by use of a class. I want a certain key combination to exit the program, but cannot figure out how to do this. I.E. Ctrl + X.
In my program, if something goes wrong an ErrorForm is supposed to show up and tell what was going wrong.
And if the error is a "fatal type", then I want the program just display the ErrorForm (which gives some information about the error), wait for a button press, and then close the program (terminate run).
In case of error, the form is displayed.. That's good.
But as the program is supposed to terminate after showing the error form, the error form disappears immediately after showing up (so it doesn't allow the user any time to read what's going wrong).
How can I make the program wait until a button press (on the error form) and then terminate?
I've been trying to figure out a simple keypress handling event.I have the code working fine after hunting for a couple of days on the net but have a problem getting rid of the obnoxious bong that comes along with hitting the ENTER key.I've attempted some solutions on the web about changing the KeyAscii to 0 but under that method I cannot even get the program to recognize the key is even being pressed. The code I have so far is as follows and I'm just trying to get rid of the audible bong.
i have a program called Vip Task Manager. This program lets me set up task which others have to complete. When they are done with a task they have to mark it "completed" and make a report on what they have done and used to perform this task.Vip Task Manager has a button which directs them to an upload form, now when they press the "open" button I would like this to happen: Open a certain report making program I made myself. When they finished writing their report and press save, the program saves this report on a dedicated network HDD (.txt file) and closes itself. Then add the file or link to the upload form in Vip Task Manager. What it all comes down to is that they dont have to minimize Vip task manager, open the report making software, save it, go to vip task manager, press upload, press open, look where this file is saved, select it, and upload it.now, typed in red is whats already been taken care of.The rest, I have no idea where to begin to be honest.First I want to find out how to retrieve that a button is pressed in a existing program. (dont know which code it is written in and it is not open source)
I have a program written in VB 2010 express under windows xp which does some heavy number crunching combined with serial communication. When it "gets too busy" it does not update the screen anymore (done simply with Textbox.text = "any text") and it does not respond to user input in any text box. Not even to a click on any text box. Is there a way I can get the program to do screen update and respond to user input while it is busy?
I am deploying my application on a 64 bit windows 7 system (setting the platform property to x86) , after the installation process the app needs to set its connection string in the config file; and this is where I am having issues, the app is not able to write to the config file if/when its located under the program files directory (no admin privileges??), the app works fine when installed on a public folder. Please let me know how to give admin or write access to my app when its installed to the default program files directory
