Jun 6, 2011I am working on a project that has a groupbox with 4 radiobuttons in it. Since I have it in a groupbox, instead of doing an if statement for each radiobutton, can I do something else that will give me the value of that radiobutton so I can insert it into an sqlcommand line?This form has three groupboxes. the other two groupboxes are just textboxes so I was able to get the value for that and do an insert into statement to put the values in my database.How can I do the same with a groupbox that has these 4

May 12, 2010Is there a way to validate a groupbox with a couple radiobuttons in it to make sure that one of the radiobuttons is selected?
Heres why I need this. I need a user to be able to select their class rank out by way of radiobuttons in a groupbox. When they click submit, I need to validate that atleast one of the radiobuttons got selected and if not display a messagebox.
I got one reply early of:

Is there any other ways other then that? Preferrably a more 'dumbed' down way? This is for just an entry level VB class, I would prefer not to use something of that nature if there is another way.
Hide/Show Items - Possible To Hide A Group Of Text Boxes From View In A Form
May 5, 2012I'm curious if it is possible to hide a group of text boxes from view in a form until a particular condition is met, and to have a custom set of text boxes for that condition. To give an example; I want radio buttons offering choices for a manner of searching records, the user selects one and then a specific set of text boxes are displayed for the user to utilize, if a different option is chosen a different set of text boxes will be shown. Is this something that can be done?

Mar 19, 2010This is for my really advanced game maker. Which is really working well. But when I went to remake the game player and speed it up, I quit painting the map on the form and the char. So my idea now is the make a picturebox on the form contain the map image and then make another picturebox on top of that one. Now the first pictreubox contrains controls the user created, very useful thats why I switched to a picturebox. And the second one contains the char,anyway, The one that contains the char needs to be able to show the controls behind it, or my game maker wont work. The char image its self is transparent but I need to make that picturebox show all the controls behind it so that if that picturebox moves onto a user control they can still see it beneath the char.

Mar 16, 2010Just playing around with VB and have made a program for playing "pairs". The program displays lots of face down cards, then the user can click on them to reveal their face and try to find pairs. This is done by hiding or showing the "card reverse" picture
If the user finds a pair, the cards should stay face up, however if they do not match, they should be returned to facing down.
The pictures need to be loaded dynamically through an array...

Difference Between .visible And .show/hide?
Jul 23, 2009i was wondering this: what is the difference as in response.. should i use the .visible or the .show/.hide option.. by setting the .visible to true/false, the controls (in my case) will only appear visible or not.. by setting them to .show./hide, i guess they unload from the form, and reload in their previous state.. do correct me on this .. is this more memory use than the .visible option or the other way? i am currently designing a project containing a lot of panels/buttons/etc., that has the .visible option included for these controls. should i be using the .show/.hide option instead, or does it even make a difference, since i cannot tell from the response of my project when using either/or..
