Variable Declaration Convert From C#

May 17, 2010

I'm working on a home project using DirectShow.Net. to learn some VB.net. Most of the examples I've found have all been in C# so I'm looking through code for ideas and converting where I need to. I keep stumbling upon these declarations and I'm unsure how to convert it to a VB.Net statement.[code]Then the second part seems to be assigning the value but as its made up of two parts im unsure how that works?

C# - Inline Definition And Long-declaration Of A Variable

Feb 20, 2012

im sure im mis-wording the concept but here it is anyways. I know in CSharp you can do

el.AppendChild(new UISize(file, "TSize") { CX = 95, CY = 20 });

which declares a temporary bucket variable and then assigns the associate property values to the variable. Which then sends it to the XMLElement AppendChild method. What is this design concept called? What is the conversion to VB.Net? I have tried using my own online utility that does a 90-95% conversion rate from C# <-> VB.Net. It has failed in this instance, and so need a hand-up on what i am looking to do to convert this from C# to VB.Net. I would really like to not have to do a long-declaration of a variable with assignments, if at all possible.

VS 2010 Proper Variable Declaration Conventions?

Jan 4, 2011

I've been programming for many years in many languages and I've seen the variable declarations conventions change. With VS 2010 I've noticed you don't have to declare the variable type. I work alone so I can use any method I want. But, someday I may want to sell some of my code so I would like to keep my programming conventions current.

In VS 2010 which of these would be considered the best convention?

Dim srtFirstName = "Bob"
Dim strFirstName As String = "Bob"
Dim FirstName = "Bob"
Dim FirstName As String = "Bob"

Event Declaration - Adding Nonserialized Attribution?

Dec 9, 2010

I'm adding a vb.net assembly to existing c# application. All of my vb.net types inherit from:

My problem is that the event can not be serialized. In c# code, the event is declared like this:

[code]...

But I can not see how to do this in any way with vb.net. Is there extended event declaration that I can use to make the event not serialize? Or other attribution?

Global String Array Declaration In ActiveX Control And Package Installation Error

Apr 12, 2011

I have been working on an activeX control which works on serial port communication. Now I have completed the project and created its setup.exe using Visual studio 6 -> Tools -> Package and Deployment Wizard. Then I installed the control in another PC and in a new project included the control using project -> components. But when I click on the control in the toolbox and then include on the form it gives the following error : delete current link ? and on clicking OK, nothing happens. I tried searching a lot on google but didnt find anything. Another problem is that I have created a string array as a global array which can be accessed by all the methods.I am able to include the same activex control in my own pc when I have created the project. Here it works fine, I am able to access all the methods that I coded in the control, but the String array mentioned above can be accessed in other project. I tried writing Public before the array declaration but it give me the compile error : "Constants. fixed length strings, arrays, user defined types and Declare statements not allowed as Public members of object module."
