Oct 18, 2011Easy simplification of companion programs I.E. chat programs, clipboard, etc. Also, you could have a transparent, noborder, location locked notification program on top of a fullscreen application. (: Get notices about email while playing MW2 or whatever.Is it possible to program something in VB to "implant" a windows form into an existing application? So say whenever I open my office program a windows form I made comes up in addition to the office program (without changing how the other app functions) and possibly independent of the office program (when one is closed the other remains).I have a project with a windows form, it's just a form with 2 text boxes, a label, a progress bar, a button, and a timer, we'll call this program A.Program B is a basic word processor program (word pad, works writer, etc). Program C is the implanting program.Programs A and C are visual basic applications. Program B is any given windows program.
When program C runs it takes a copy of program A and finds program B. It implants program A into program B and then quits. Then when program B launches, there is no difference in program B's functionality, but an extra windows form (program A) launches simultaneously to program B. When looking at the task manager the user sees one process, program B's process. Finally, if the user re-runs program C it finds program B again and removes program A. My actual question is can you give me some code examples or theory help for program C, the implant/remove program.

Even if I try to launch them, doubleclicking, running, almost everything I tried, the problem is that the application just doesn't show up. May 17, 2012I have a program that outputs a file. I want the user to be able to just double-click the output file and launch the program, just like Word and Excel. In Word for instance, one doesn't necessarily have to open WORD then click on File--> Open and locate another Word doc. He can just go to the folder and open the Word doc. I want to implement the exact scenario in my program.
So far I have tried creating TextFile and added it to the Resources. On FormLoading, I simply I stream-read the Resouce file, but I can't write to the Resource on FormClosing, since the Resource is ReadOnly. Also, the Resource is built & compiled so I suppose you can't add anything to it at run time.How you lunch an output file without launching the Executable program that created it?

Jun 1, 2009I have an executable that I was able to get working on all XP machines by registering all the .dll's associated with it.On Vista, however, I go through the exact same registration process but right when I open the executable it goes to a "WindowsApplication1 has stopped working" dialog. I registered the DLLs in the SysWOW64 folder. I also ran Dependency Walker which came up with IEFrame.dll as flagged, don't know if that is relevant though.

Would it be easy to keep switching between a Vb.Net Form windows based application and Windows Calculator and, using SendKeys, get results back to a Vb.Net application using Copy & Paste via the clipboard but to do this in an automatic fashion at all please?
What I am particularly interested in is getting Log10 or LogN results and also doing ARC or INVerse LOG10 or INVerse LogN calculations. But I require the greater accuracy of windows Calculator. Additionally, would it be possible to assign a keyboard keymap to each key in Windows Calculator so that, for example, the L key would be assigned to clicking the LOG10 button, ALT for the Hyp checkbox, SHIFT for the INV checkbox and so on?So imagine sending key sequences to Windows Calculator to completely automate it. And Windows Calculator has been updated too in WINDOWS 7, would that make it any easier to work with?

How (if even possible) can I show this page in full screen mode but at the same time allow each control on the form to format and resize in proportion.The best analogy I can give to describe what I want is when thinking about PowerPoint. Windows Script Host Object Model's Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary.dll Referencing Same Directory As Executable
May 10, 2011I have an application that creates desktop shortcuts. To do this I have to reference the Windows Script Host Object Model. When I add it as a reference, it always creates the DLL, Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary.dll, in the objx86Debug directory, then references itself to it, rather than looking at wshom.ocx. Even if I add reference wshom.ocx it reverts to saving the file in the objx86Debug directory. The problem is if I move my application to another computer without that DLL being present, the program fails to run.

WIndows 7 Won't Run .NET MS Access Database Connection Program, But XP Mode Does?
Mar 16, 2010I have written a simple VB.NET program that connects to a MS Access Database. This program runs in Windows 7 XP Mode, but does not run properly in straight Windows 7. Somehow, the Windows 7 does not connect properly or read the MS Access database data properly with the DataAdapter.Fill method. I have dual monitors, so I can run the identical program side by side (one in Windows 7 and the other in XP Mode) - one works and the other doesn't (it doesn't crash, it just get "nothing" from the database when accessing - acts like it's not connected). Has anyone else run into this, or similar, problem with VB.NET and MS Access connectivity?

Oct 14, 2010i am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007. i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll When i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) but if i run directly .exe (go to bin elease doubleclick .exe) it give error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.

C# - Deploying App To Production Using Debug Mode Rather Than Release Mode?
Oct 28, 2010I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.
