I am not so good at VB.NET, well, I am working with a school to run a Spelling Bee aimed at children in year 7. And to make it fair and unbiased i need an application that can choose randomise a word from the list box then transfer the string to the text box. So basically something that can pick a random string from the listbox and show it in the textbox1.text property.

The Textbox.Text will be a new Item in ListBox when Button1.Click I want button2.click to pick a random item from the listbox and display it as the label. Think of it as a random raffle picker lol.
I have this code to pick a random number Between X and Y
X = Minimum Number
Y = Maximum Number
But the problem is i wanted to know if there is a better random function than the one i have.
Because right now i put
Min = 1
Max= 2
and it keeps picking 1
if i had min =1 and max =2 i want it to pick 1 sometimes and 2 sometimes
and now i tried min = 1 max = 3 and it never picks 3, it only picks 1 and 2

I need to pick a random answer, not including the question. let it be the simplest solution. I am only a beginner.
I have a listbox with several list items added. I want that as user click on an item, I should be able to show its property. This should change for different items. For example (hypothetical) : Listbox has numbers 1 - 10. Now when I select 1 I should be able to set property - Name, Lastname, Colour, Age.
When I select 2 I should be able to set - Age, Hair Colour (clr shows), Weight, Date. When I select 3 then - City (combo box drop down), Country, Age only. This way value changes for diff items. One way is to put them in property grid and show them. Though this looks nice but adding/removing items in that is not easy. You need to have a class that refer that to prop grid. Do I have to code for each classes for all values in listbox or is there an easier way to manage items in property grid. If you think prop grid is not the right tool for such an activity then can you suggest something else.

View 1 RepliesI am writing a program that shows random images in three picture boxes. When I open the program the initial images are in the picture boxes. When I click stop, the program is supposed to select a random image out of five. in each picture box. However, when I click start the images go away and when I click stop, no images appear. There is also a message that is supposed to come up on the screen, which it does. I just can't get the images to show. I am using Visual Basic 2005.
