I have a VB.Net application with a datagridview consisting of several columns. I would like to be able to increase/decrease the cell font size when the user resizes the cell so that the value fills the cell. I do not see a property that would do this and wonder if there is one or if there is some algorithm by which the appropriate font size can be calculated based on character count and cell width.
View 2 RepliesI am using VB 2010 with an Access 2010 database. The Access table is the data source for a DataGridView created by dragging the table from the DataSet onto the form. The table has 3 columns - First, Last and DOB (Date of Birth). I want to have a column in each row to show the person's age. I added an unbound cell in the DataGridView called Age, but cannot figure out how to fill the cell with the information I need. I tried using the DataName property, but that will only allow me to enter columns already in the grid. I think what I need to do is fill this cell (Age) by a value computed from DateDiff(DateInterval.Year, DOB, Now), but I cannot figure out how to do so.

My problem is that I can not seem to get the focus to the correct cell.

I have created a custom column type for a datagridview. I have created a class for the datagridviewcolumn and a class for the datagridviewcell. Within the datagridcell class I am using the following code for the font.Dim fnt As Font = parent.InheritedStyle.Font How do I change this so that I have control over the font color for that cell? There is one column that is a string which contains either "YES" or "NO".When I run and display the DataGridView it displays perfectly. For the User's benefiy, if the field contains "NO" I want to put some emphasis on it by changing the fore color and back coler of the entire row. In VB.net 3.5 SP1 I have a Windows Form with three DataGridView controls. One DGV takes up the whole bottom half of the form. The other two share the top half and are side-by-side.
I'd like to have each DataGridView scale appropriately. More specifically I'd like to have column widths and row heights adjust to the size of the form. Then I'd like the cell font to auto-fill based on a change in the cell size.
I've used the Dock property for the controls to scale to the size of the form. How can I get the rows and fonts to utilize the increased form size?

I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

View 13 RepliesI have a DataGridView where Cell_Validating is being done. I have a Cancel button on my form that allows the user to exit out of the DataGridView changes. The problem is that if a cell was currently flagged as in error, I cannot exit and remove columns from the DataGridView. I get the following error: Operation did not succeed because the program cannot commit or quit a cell value change. I've set every setting I could find on the DataGridView to a specific font size however when the form it resides on loads I step through the code and put my cursor over the DataGridView1.Font.Size and it always shows 8.25 (I've set everything to 18).
What I'm trying to do is resize the DGV on load of the form to a percentage based on the size of the form relative to the size of the screen. Everything else on all of my other forms are resizing correctly but the DGV is not.

I have two forms, each with a DataGridView populated by using an sql statement. I have clearly done something at design time as one grid displays cells sized in 8.5 and the other in 9.5. I cannot find anything for Font in the DataGridView properties or in my code, but it would be a very useful feature to be able to control the Font size on my DataGridViews. How did I do it? I have no idea. Did I set something on the form itself? I remember changing the font size on a label and the next button I created took that size.

My first problem was in my code where I would get the common error message of Too many arguments to public overrides overloadable. I solved that error message by going into the dataset designer, selecting the query and adding RegDate as a parameter. Now my problem is that I will enter a date in my tool strip text box click the button and still get my data grid view filled with all the data.
