Dec 29, 2011I was trying to compile these codes in VB.NET (VS 2008), it has no error but when I try to draw, it is not working. Maybe there are some missing/wrong codes.[code]

View 1 RepliesI am trying to create an autocad drawing in visual studio with the code :
Dim strTemplatePath As String = "C:\acad.dwt"
Dim acDocMgr As DocumentCollection = Application.DocumentManager
Dim acDoc As Document = acDocMgr.Add(strTemplatePath)
acDocMgr.MdiActiveDocument = acDoc
However, when I try to run the program I get an filenotfoundexception and the program asks me to verify if the file exists in the specified location. The file does exist in the specified location.
I'm attempting to make a program that will simply draw a guide (consisting of two perpendicular lines) on another program's window. I tried using a form with a transparency key and TopMost set to true, but then whenever the user inadvertently clicked the guide, it would un-focus the application. The only lead I could find was a suggestion to "Draw directly on the other application's window". I can't find anything that tells me how to do this, or if its even possible...
So I need to know one of three things:
1) Is it possible?
2) How do you do it? or
3) is there some way to make a form completely un-focusable?
The effect I'm trying to get is so that it looks like someone physically drew the line on the monitor itself.
my name's Sardor, from Uzbekistan. I have some experience in coding in vb.net, but i am having real difficulties with realizing one project. The thing is to code a simple drawing tool and embed it to an existing vb.net application. The drawing tool should be a simple object and have the functionality very similar to mspaint (windows built-in drawing software). It should also have some custom brushes, and it should support loading and saving pictures in common formats such as bmp, jpeg, gif, and png. how to code such a drawing tool? Or can I instead download any such control or tool as an add-in to vb.net and use it?

View 2 RepliesI'm a college student just starting out programming in VB and am having a lot of trouble trying to get my drawing program to work. Currently i am using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition and whenever i try to debug my program the window it's supposed to run in is just a gray block. I'm not too sure if this is the right place in the forum to post this so if it is just let me know and ill move it. c:

I have started a little project for myself to become a little more accustomed to drawing in VB.NET. I decided to make an application that looks a little bit like Microsoft Visio.
Until now, I have been able to create an image 'layer' on a blank PictureBox by clicking somewhere in the PictureBox. When I click on such an image layer, it is selected (and a blue rectangle, and its text are drawn). I can also drag the selected image layer.
The code for this is as follows:
The ImageLayer class:
vb.net
Public Class ImageLayer
#Region " Properties "
[Code]....
how to do all this; I'm starting to fear this project is going to be a little much for me...
So, do I really have to do everything manually? So the images locations, their size etc should all depend on the zoom level? Or is there something 'premade' I can use?
draw individual pixels, without resorting to drawing a line and setting it's length to 1. Is there an actual ability to draw a pixel that is just 1 pixel big?
View 2 RepliesI'm making a custom control that needs to look like a Text Box but I can't Inherit Directly from text box since I need to add, Change and Override so many things that it would be more practical to just inherit Control and start new.
But now my question is: Is there an easy way to create the basic functionality of a Text Box like drawing the Text Box and handling input ?
I need some code to draw a resizable, draggable rectangular cursor (or selection box) on a picturebox. I found some excellent code (albeit rather old) that does just that, but on a form rather than a picturebox. I have tried converting the code - basically moving things to the picturebox events (Paint, MouseDown, MouseMove etc). It nearly works but leaves a trail behind it when you move or resize the cursor. In other words, the selection rectangle is not being erased before being drawn in the new position.
Is there some fundamental difference between drawing graphics on a form and drawing on a picturebox that would cause this behaviour? Something like, when you invalidate a form and cause a redraw it erases what you did last? If not, then I just need to dig a bit further and work out how the cursor is being erased from the previous position.
Here's the original code that works fine on a form:
Private DragRect As New RectangleF(20, 20, 100, 80)
Private Adornments(7) As RectangleF
Private MouseInRect As Boolean = False
[Code]....
Say I have 3 Buttons, labelled: Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3. When I click on any button I want a drawing of that unit to appear on screen at a pre-specified starting point. Thereafter when I press any other one of the buttons the unit drawings appear alongside each other in a line. So I could end up with:
[Code]...
With this line...
If PictureBox1.Image = My.Resources._2star Then
I get this error: Operator '=' is not defined for types 'System.Drawing.Image' and 'System.Drawing.Bitmap'.Is there another way to say = with images?

I understand this is possible but I am not sure where to start. I want to either buy or create an application that captures a resource from another application so that I can fire off another application. In other words, I want to start an application (which I did not write) that is database driven so the form has a number of text boxes. When someone keys something into that field I want to be able to validate the value, outside of the original application. For instance, if the program asks for a zipcode and it doesn't validate the zipcode, I'd like to trap for that and write something that would validate it. At this point I don't think I'd have to send anything back to the textbox/resource.
