View 3 RepliesHere is my problem:I have 2 tables Accounts and Transaction Logs.in Accounts table, it has column "Amount" which is a base amount of an account.and in Trans Logs table, it also has column "Amount" which is additional (add or minus to the base amount) amount of the account.and I don't know how to retrieve that base amount to edit it, then save it back to the table.That means I need to get a value of the right column by using Acc_No to find. I'm using DataSet, by the way.i think it should go like this:
Dim Amount as Decimal
Amount = *the code to retrieve the base amount*
Amount = Amount + txtAmount.Text
*the code to save the new amount back to Accounts table*
I'm looking to retrieve all the entries from one column of an access database table and copy to an array. this array i will then be randomly selecting values from it to create foootball fixtures. I'm confident of being able to achieve the random side of it but i'm struggling to get the records into the array.

This is really a pre-defined table and the data is already specified to be inserted to the table. However, my primarily task is to read a flat file which has the data and consider the first line as the column to be column names.
Therefore, initially I created an open dialogue to browse for the text file and store the path such as E:Datafile est.txt, in a TextBox1 visible at run time. Now the task is to change the above "create table" to read the txt file (column names are on the first line) and then create the table in the database.
i mean, if i have an update button for inserting images and i have got another navigator which adds information to the database, how could i delete a selected row in sql server database...In dataset, i used to remove a specific row in database by doing:
me.customersbindingsource.removecurrent()
So, this one doesn't delete anything when the image is included.

I have 2 tables that are related,both have identity columns for primary keys and i am using a vb form to insert data into them,My problem is that i cannot get the child table to get the primary key of the parent table and use this as its foreign key in my database.the data is inserted fine though no foreign key constraint is made.I am wondering if a trigger will do it and if so how. All my inserting of data is done in vb.The user wont insert any keys. all these are identity columns that are auto generated. If a trigger is my way out please illustrate with an example.

I have been asked to try and create a tool that will take an HTML table from a .html file and convert the table into an image.I am not sure how to approach this. I have tried several examples on the web, but can't seem to get any to work, like convert from base64 string into a byte array, then into a memory stream, then to image. I have also tried to use a webrequest, but cant seem to get that to work, either.
