Have to say that, i managed to create a code which inserts image into the sql server atabase from vb.net program and its working but doesn't meet my requirments:1. when i run the application, select the image file location, it just saves directly to the db. in this case, i would like to import the image in a picture box control prior saving it in the database.2. whilst i have a navigator toolbar which has things like save button and add new infor buttons, i want to leave other details for that tool bar then the imagebutton should only do one task..thats storing image in database.hers the code i wanna share with you:

i mean, if i have an update button for inserting images and i have got another navigator which adds information to the database, how could i delete a selected row in sql server database...In dataset, i used to remove a specific row in database by doing:

I am looking for the best way to edit and update the value of a database column that is defined as data type TEXT. You can't use a replace command in SQL and if I read in the value, update the data and update the record, the changes are not applied.

I have a client/server application set up that the client sends a word file to the server and then the server converts that word file to a .TIF and sends the image back.The stuff I have now works.Say if I sent the size of the file and the actual file byte() to the server back to back, would the NetworkStream contain both back to back? I've been looking around online, and havent quite found what im looking for.I have an unbound DataGridView on my form that has 1 columns ID and NAME, i did a loop to fill in all the ID columns. Then when i loop trough all the ID's, i want to update the NAME column with some data.

I've been thinking of a method but I doubt it would work. First I would start off selecting all the ID's and then LOOP through all of them, and then rewrite them to to + 1 Each time I make a Delete, so Each Time it will be a consistent 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 .... etc... Then I can reference from that to my Combo Box Selected Index + 1 to get the Correct Row which corresponds with the Selected Item.
I have a dataset with a number of data columns, due to sizing issues I've updated a number of the varchar columns from say VARCHAR(20) to VARCHAR(50).I'd like the DataTable to automatically grab the new column information, is this possible? I'd rather not go through each column in the table and update the length.
I have a dataset with numerous tables.I have changed the column type of a couple of columns in the source DB form smallint to int.No I need to update the datasets (and eventually the code) to the appropriate datatype.Rather than hunt around the dataset and find all the places where these columns are referenced is there a way to direct the dataset to go back to the DB, reread the queries and update the datatypes.I know I can either change the field or one by one go to each table and force it reread the query but I want the dataset to do it in mass.
The code below updates all cells in a DataGridView column to a value from a textbox. This code works in that all cells in the desired column are updated on screen. The DGC is bound to a dataset. The problem is that when I call the dataset .Update method, sometimes the first row (row 0) does not get updated. I have run SQL profiler and can see that no SQL update command is submitted for the first row. The first row only gets skipped the first time the update is run after launching the app. Subsequent updates run for all rows, until the app is re-launched.
I have verified the row state is Unchanged with: Msgbox(DataGridView1.Rows(r).State.ToString).
The 2 commented lines below are other things I have tried that still cause the first row to be skipped.

Attempting to run an SQL statement to UPDATE a column in a table with new data. The column being updated is defined as varchar(40) and the new data is 41 bytes (varchar(41)). I get a generic 'data will be truncated' error message, but no detail on which column caused the problem. I've attached a sample VB program to illustrate the issue. In this scenario, Company is defined as varchar(40).
My question: Can I get a more detailed error message? i.e. can I get an error message that tells me the row and column that the truncation occurs in? Often times, I may be updating hundreds or thousands of rows and only one value in one column from the source file is too large for a database cell. As a related question, does each OLEDB provider create its own error messages. i.e. will the MS SQL Server OLEDB provider potentially give different text in the error message than say the MS Jet OLEDB provider?

I have program in VB.NET 2008 where I want to update the premamt cell value in the tblPrem Access table, where the premno is the maximum (autogenerated as 1,2,3...), but only within a specified set of common numbers in a column (contno) I am currently saving. This contno is from another table (tblMain) linked in this table (tblPrem) where it is the primary key, and just repeatedly generated after the clicking save button. Here is my current code which saves the data but does not do anything on the textbox1 + textbox2, and has an error message "At most one record can be returned by this subquery":

I don't understand this code (listed below). this code attempts to modify the products table . It creates an update, delete and insert command. I don't understand where it gets the data values from. What I mean is that, how does it know which record to delete. there in no input box or textbox from where it can get the product ID, which would identify which record to delete.[code]...
