I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?
i'm worried about doing this since my changes will be overwritten when the dbml file is auto generated again (as they often are).i'm thinking of doing a partial class and writing out the same properties to annotate them, but worried that it will complain about duplicates, and the reason i can't even experiment brings me to the second part of my questions...

According to the General Naming Conventions the usage of CLR type names (e.g. String, Int16) should be preferred over the usage of language specific type names (string, short). I usually follow this advice. Resharper however seems to use the language specific type names when generating code (eg. when extracting methods or generating foreach loops) which is very annoying.

i have a treeview with 8 Root items, my program needs to add items to the treeview without me selecting the proper root or item, the root items have been coded so they cannot be deleted, but i'm not sure how to get the software to place data in a particular root by what its name is. when you add children the indexs change so im not sure where to begin. heres an example

View 4 RepliesI have been looking at a few of our VB.NET dll's using FxCop and all of the errors relate to DLL setup (i.e. Strong Names, Culture Info) and the case of Variables methods. Looking at a few examples of FxCop examining a C# Dll, it appears to offer a lot more potential errors.
Does this mean that FxCop is more valuable on C# developments that VB.NET or have I just chosen bad examples.
I thought it was the case that FxCop worked on IL rather than the specific languages, so am I just missing rules files for VB.NET or are there more available for C#?
txtBox has key up event that fires, if txBox.length = 2, a sql select to dataset for custom source of autocomplete.when user types in 2 letters it selects the 2 letters and when 3rd character is typed of course it erases the first 2 if you dont unselect..
