Jul 26, 2010
I have a code that takes the pink out of a image and makes it transperent. So its just the image no color around it. How do i make a shadow for that image like below to make it look like it has its own shadow?

I'm trying to make an image in a picturebox transparent, so that i can see and click the controls behind it in the transparent area. This reason for this is that i'm trying to make a hexagonal grid that needs each cell to work independantly of each other when clicked, and needs to include a changing image. I'm trying to do this with pictureboxes, but even though i've made the GIF images i'm using transparent in photoshop, They aren't displayed as such in design view or at runtime, as the corners stay grey. I'm making a clone of the Quiz-show Blockbusters

what would be the fastest (best) way to make transparent all pixels in one image that are white on other image?
Let's say that have 2 transparent images (.png) and want to delete some portion of the first image. Pixels to be deleted (made transparent) are defined as white on the other image (some kind of deleting mask).

I'm having problems making an image properly "transparent"
Dim x As Integer
Dim y As Integer
Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PictureBox1.Click
[Code] .....
The initial image is Transparent, however, once you create another image very close to it, there is a "box" around it. That "box" is what I am trying to get rid of. I have no clue on how to get rid of it. Yes, I have made the image itself, transparent, as the initial image is transparent. Just any image that makes contact with the other images show the "box".

I'm attempting to write a solution so that my user's can "watermark" their Images with their Company Logo. I've got the actual watermarking part done and working so now I'm creating the "upload logo" feature so that they can provide me with the Logo they wish to appear watermarked onto their Images.I'm using VB.NET and this will probably end up in a Web Service that accepts the Logo JPG file, and returns the "altered" Logo. What I need to happen in this Web Service is:
1) Gray-scale the image. Which I have working as well, thanks to this article.
2) Make the background transparent (so the logo looks clean when watermarked onto an image). This is where I'm stuck.
I think for the most part, any logos that are uploaded will have a generic white background but I can't assume that. Is there a way to somehow detect the background of an image or the background colors, so that I may make those colors transparent? So basically what I need is just a way to determine the background on an Image or even just the background colors so that I may make them transparent.

So I made my form transparent by changing the transparent key to dimgray, change background color to dimgray. I also changed the picture box's BG color to dimgray everything was fine except that the drop shadow on the picture I did was just a grey blob.Is there anyway to make the drop shadow look like its a drop shadow?

I'm currently building an intranet engine for a project I've got on the go at the moment, and I'd like to save myself a little time by generating header images from code where possible, however, I'd like it to match our concept image. What I'd like to achieve is below:My issue is I've not the faintest how to create that from code. I can do the absolute basics but that's about it.I start to fall down when it comes to the gradient background and the drop shadow on the text. I can get away with positioning the text on the larger header image, so if it's not possible to generate the exact gradient I have there, then I have a work around for that, but what I really want to achieve is the text with the font and drop shadow.

Back when I used to use an 8 bit home computer I dabbled in machine code with an old version of BASIC which allowed you to POKE values into memory and then call the 1st memory location to execute that code. I used the equivalent HEX values for the processor which ran a series of ROR ( ROtate Right ) or ROL ( ROtate Left )commands through the carry bit as each line of the bitmap consisted of a series of bytes which were an 8 bit BYTE followed by the next BYTE in memory. The effects that I manage to create "in assembly language" as it were:
Scroll leftScroll right By manipulating full bytes in memory I created routines to:Flip the image horizontallyFlip the image verticallyTurn the image upside down Anyway, if you were to try this with the BASIC equivalent to GET and SET pixels, obviously the BASIC was a LOT slower. I am also interested in creating animated bitmaps from one or two images such as the following:Page turn effect.Sliding-in of an image in any direction.Ripple effect.Scratch effect.

I think that changing from WinForms to WPF just because the blur effect is easier to do in WPF is the stupiest thing i can do right now it took me time to understand how the windows form application works i dont even how change the source of an image in WPF so here we are again. how to blur a speciefied image using CODE ONLY ?
See what im trying to do:
1. Imagine that you turn on your pc. takes some time to load.
2. Finally for the first time you are on the desktop.
3. Before you do something after every icon is loaded my program
takes a picture of the desktop and blurs it.
4. then it runs fullscreen showing the desktop behind as blurred and
not giving you access to the desktop.
5. a login/register border pops up
6. if you login the program closes if you dont it stays there
waiting for you to login or register.
I wont use it that way im planning to do it on the startup of my program only blur the window not the screen (i mean the content of my window) untill you login or register then it clears again. What i need to learn:
1. How to take a screenshot of my program (only yhe content of the window) [Progress: 1% (cause i know how to take a screenshot of the desktop)]
2. How to blur that image [Progress: 100%]
No need for third party programs or dlls i mean isnt there a default function in vb.net the stupiest way to do it?

I am developing a small windows application(vb.net) in vs2005.I will have a grid view that will keep on refreshing for every 5 seconds. For that grid, I want to set a background image which I can do.But my problem is, while refreshing the grid image also get refreshed which make the form unpleasant to view. So, I try to make the grid backcolor as transparent so that I can utilize the form background image which will solve my problem. But I got the error message that, we can not set the grid back color to transparent. Is there any way to achieve this.

Is it possible to change the back color of a form to transparent? I don't want to use transparent key. Because I want to put a semitransparent picture in a picture box and there is a big problem with transparent key. The semitransparent pixels show the transparent key color.

I can't remember exactly if this is possible or not but what I am attempting I would think should theoretically be possible. I know it is possible in WPF but the company I am working for doesn't want to make the transition just yet. Basically what I want is to use a background image on a form for the background and I have a docked control on the right and left. I have set the background on both of these docked controls to transparent however it is showing the back color rather than the background image. I tried, rather than setting the background image property, to override the onpaintbackground and onpaint events and use e.graphics.draw(picture, me.clientrectangle) but it still seems to just pick up the backcolor as the true transparent background so I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to show the background image through the control rather than the backcolor of the form?

i know how to make a picturebox have a transparent image within it, and i know how to make forms transparent, but what i cant seem to figure out is how to add an image which has transparent parts to a completely transparent form and have it still look nice. you know when you find images which look really good by them selves, but then look really bad when moved to a different background cause they still have the white border (or any other colour border). is there ANY way which i can accomplish removing this border? its almost like the alpha channel that removes the ugly border, when putting the image on the form, is forgotten about and the colour of the forms background fills in the gap..

Me again. I also have a png image and a web cam video in my form. I have transparent parts on the png image that show through to the form background colour.
How do I set it so it shows the video in the background, when I put the png image over the top of the video?
At the moment its still shows straight through to the back of the form?
