If Not TimeSpan.TryParse(Q.<Timer>.Value, Timer) Then Timer = Nothing

.net - Do A Foreach On A TimeSpan By Timespan Type

Apr 26, 2010

I have a requirement that regardless of the start and dates that I need to loop through that timespan and calculate figures at the month level. I cannot seem to figure it out, and maybe it is not possible, but I would like to do something like:

FOREACH Month As TimeSpan in ContractRange.Months
Do Calculations (Month.Start, Month.End)
NEXT

Is this possible or do I need to calculate the number of months, and just iterate through the amount of months and calculate the start/end of that month based on my index?

Declare Time - 'Conversion From Type 'Timespan' To Type 'integer' Is Not Valid'

Feb 21, 2012

I declare my dates as the following in my code:

Dim DeliveryDate as Date

But i am now trying to declare time however i keep getting an error because i cannot get the type correct. I tried the following but get the following error: "Conversion from type 'Timespan' to type 'integer' is not valid".

Dim DeliveryTime as DateTime
Dim DeliveryTime as Integer

In my database the DeliveryTime type is set to Time(7) so i would assume there should be 'Time' which i could use to declare it, but there isnt. What is the correct type i should be using?

Here is my exact code. There error is Input string was not in correct format:

GraphDate4 = String.Empty
DeliveryProducts = "{ name: 'DeliveryProducts', data: ["

Value Of Type 'Date' Cannot Be Converted To 'System.TimeSpan'

Feb 10, 2010

I need to take 6 user entered dates and compare them to a date pulled from a database & stored in a variable. If greater than 6 weeks, then some action needs to take place. When writing the code, I get the following message (before compilation). Value of type 'Date' cannot be converted to 'System.TimeSpan'. [code] Within my code the 'dt' in the line above is underlined with the error message appearing on mouseover. I have tried using CType, as in dt = CType(Session("dt_occurence"), DateTime) in the hopes that might work, but it doesn't do it.

Adding Time - Get Value Of Type 'Date' Cannot Be Converted To 'System.TimeSpan'

why did they make this so hard to do. Does anyone have any clear cut, basic 3-4 lines of code that can tell me how to add 2 time variables together to create a 3rd variable? I tried this but on Time2 I get Value of type 'Date' cannot be converted to 'System.TimeSpan'.

C# - Using FileHelpers; How To Parse This CSV Type

Jun 5, 2009

Having a few problems trying to parse a CSV in the following format using the FileHelpers library. It's confusing me slightly because the field delimiter appears to be a space, but the fields themselves are sometimes quoted with quotation marks, and other times by square brackets. I'm trying to produce a RecordClass capable of parsing this. Here's a sample from the CSV:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [14/Jun/2008:18:04:17 +0000] "GET http://www.some_url.com HTTP/1.1" 200 73662339 "-" "iTunes/7.6.2 (Macintosh; N; Intel)"

It's an extract from an HTTP log we receive from one of our bandwidth providers.

ScriptSerializer Unable To Parse Data Type

I have some JSON data that looks like this[code]...

I get one root object with key "data", and value another object with 2 children, with keys "name" and "id", and the appropriate values one might expect. But when I try to cast that object to my UserData type, it returns Nothing. I had this code working at some point, but now that I am returning to it and attempting to use it again, it seems some code rot has set in and it has stopped working.

.net - Modify RegularExpression To Parse VCard/vCalendar To Allow A Particular Field Type?

Sep 6, 2009

I have an vCard application that needs to read vCard Data, and have found a RegularExpression which gets the FieldName, Encoding and FieldValue from the file, here it is below:

^(?<FIELDNAME>[w-]{1,})(?:(?:;?)(?:ENCODING=(?<ENC>[^:;]*)|CHARSET=(?<CHARSET>[^:;]*))){0,2}:(?:(?<CONTENT>(?:[^
]*=
){1,}[^
]*)|(?<CONTENT>[^
]*))

This Regular Expression Reads these kind of values fine:

ORG:Company
FN;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE;CHARSET=UTF-8:RoguePlanetoid

However I want it to read these values also

TEL;WORK;VOICE:0200 0000000

Without skipping them. How can I modify the RegularExpression so TEL;WORK;VOICE ends up as part of the "FIELDNAME" and 0200 0000000 is part of the "CONTENT".I am unfamiliar with complex RegularExpressions and cannot figure out how to modify it, there is a regular expression that gets these:

^(?:TEL)([^:]*):(?<TEL>[^
]*)

However it only gets the FieldName as "TEL" and I need the whole value for this so I can tell the numbers apart in my application. If possible the Regular Expression would read the WORK and VOICE elements also like the CHARSET and ENCODING in the current regular expression, so they can treated like an Attribute and Type for example, however anything which allows the Regular Expression to read the whole TEL;WORK;VOICE as the FIELDNAME will be fine.

Edit

^(?<FIELDNAME>[^:]{1,})(?:(?:;?)(?:ENCODING=(?<ENC>[^:;]*)|CHARSET=(?<CHARSET>[^:;]*))){0,2}:(?:(?<CONTENT>(?:[^
]*=
){1,}[^
]*)|(?<CONTENT>[^
]*))

Reads up to the first Colon which covers the Whole FieldName, however it would be nice to store each SemiColon Element in a seperate item such as ATTRIBUTE or TYPE.

C# - Parse An Expression And Retrieve A Parse Tree?

Jun 8, 2012

I just want to parse simple expressions like IIF(FVAL(PFC) = TRUE, (IIF((ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") + ORGVAL(DA)) < 6500, (FVAL(BAS) + FVAL(DA)) * 12%, 780)), 0)`After parsing this I should be able to know what functions contains what parameters.

[Code]...

I'm stuck with .Net Framework 2.0, so no Linq or lambda expression goodies for me. Also I want to include the code in my custom library and not just reference it. Can anyone point me to some good library or code.

I just need to parse and not evaluate the expression and find what tokens are in use. After finding the tokens I need to change the expression string before parsing, like if the function ORGVAL is used then the parameter passed has has to be prefixed by an underscore. Like ORGVAL(BAS) will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS). Some functions can have tow parameters like ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") and this will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS, "2012/12/31")

NOTE: IF THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DOING IT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WOULD LOVE TO AVOID A PARSER AND LEXER.

Timespan - Less Behind The Comma?

I don't know the word for this in english, but I want less number behind the comma in a timespan. This is because I generate a report for the user which shows the value of a timespan. But 00:05:01:230000 is not really necessary for the user. It will just confuse him/her.

Is it possible to remove all miliseconds?

Display Hourglass Throughout Duration Of Exe?

Sep 11, 2009

We have create a VB.NET app (exe) that is called by our non-vb.net software app.The .NET app is a Windows Application module. The only form presented on it is when users are previewing a Crystal Report.Otherwise, we are just executing code from the module. What we want to do is set the cursor to an hourglass from the moment our vb.net app(exe) is executed until it has closed.I have tried entering Cursor.Current = Cursors.Wait as the first line in the code, then Cursor.Current = Cursors.Default just before exiting the Main subroutine. But, this does not work.

How can I control the cursor on, essentially, a non-form vb.net application?

Frequency And Duration Through The PC's Speakers?

Jan 1, 2011

A simple class that plays a tone of varying ampliture, frequency and duration through the PC's speakers:

Imports System.IO
Imports System.Media
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Beep.Beep(1000, 1000, 1000)

[Code]...

This class uses SoundPlayer.PlaySync which has a 4 MB stream length limit, so the longest duration is 24000 milliseconds. You can try SoundPlayer.Play for longer durations, but allow plenty of time for it to complete.

Get Video File Duration?

Jan 20, 2009

I have created my own application for organising my video library. when the application starts a datagridview displays all of the videos in my database. i can't get it to display the duration of each video. i assumed i'd be able to loop through each row in the datagridview and use the FileInfo class to look up the properties of each file and get the duration from there because if you look at the properties of any .avi and then click on Details you can see the duration of the video but i can't figure it out.

Idle Duration Of An Application?

May 4, 2009

I have an MDI form in VB.nEt where I have to find, if the application remains idle for 20 mins, I got to log off the logged in user. On doing RnD, I found a class that helps us do the same :- http://blog.perfectapi.com/2008/05/detecting-idle-state-in-winforms-apps/

I saved that class in my applicaiton. In my mdi form's Form Load created an instance of that class. Now I don't know how to move ahead i.e. how to find that 20 min lastActivity duration. I belive I got to trap some evcent in my mdi form and find the value of lastActivity and if that is >= 20, then logoff. But which event to trap and how, I have no clue. In the events for the from also, I didn't found any useful.

VS 2010 Getting Meida Duration

Jul 21, 2011

I have been searching around and trying to figure out how to get media, specifically videos, length/duration.I know that you can use the Windows Media Player object to achieve this, however, I need to get the duration of some media that is not supported by windows media player.I am developing my own media player in VS 2010 that will be utilizing the VLC media player component since VLC is able to play most (if not all) media formats. So far I have tried playing around with "My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo("path").length" but all this gets is the media's length in Bytes. What I am trying to achieve is the format of hh:mm:ss for pretty much every format, not just Windows Media Formats, but real media, .mkv, etc.

.net - Formatting A Negative TimeSpan?

Jul 11, 2010

I'm doing some math with the Timespans in .Net, and occasionally the sum results in a negative Timespan. When I display the result I am having trouble formatting it to include the negative indicator.

Dim ts as New Timespan(-10,0,0)
ts.ToString()

This will display "-10:00:00", which is good but I don't want to show the seconds so tried this.

ts.ToString("hh:mm")

This returns "10:00" and has dropped the "-" from the front which is the crux of the issue. My current solution is this:

If(ts < TimeSpan.Zero, "-", "") & ts.ToString("hh:mm")

but I was hoping to accomplish the same by using only the format string.
