I'm developing a "small" warehouse-management WebApplication for few users(5-10 parralel) but with a complex authorization system(checking if pages, menus,TabPanels, UserControls and even single controls are visible or enabled) and permanent and frequent access. Because i've only limited experiences with the ASP.Net MembershipProvider, i'm unsure what's the best approach for following goal:
I want to hold all users, roles and frequently used masterdata in the Cache(in a Dataset). Hence every readonly access should be faster and causes less traffic than always using the database. On updates, deletes and inserts i would update the cached dataset and also the database.
Can i use or extend the SqlMembershipProvider to achieve this goal and if possible how?
I have the following code in my config.vb file in app folder and almost all of my pages use this code for permormance issues i need to have it cached for exp use cache.insert to cache each property How should i use caching?
At the moment I am using Access & an OleDb connection to store data. I went down this route originally because I though that this was the best way for applications that I am distributing to my clients.
I would prefer to use something like SQL Server but is this a good idea for software I am distributing? Does the average Joe's PC have SQL Server pre-installed? If not, I suppose I can provide them with a link to download it for free?
Is there any better alternatives to Access / SQL Server?
Can we execute any string like "Button1.Text = Value" Question arises from sql server where we can store a dynamic/static query in a string (varchar) and execute it and it will put the value to the button1.
I am developing a windows application, how can i store the view state of a page in vb.net. i have 12 labels on a page and when i click on each label the color of the label changes to black, what i want is when i come back to the same page, i want the labels to retain their colors....
I am using VB .Net for this, so I don't have access to var or this would be a simple matter.Right now my query is as follows
[code]...
So I used this query in LinqPad to help me determine what the object would look like. I got back a IOrderQueryable(Of RSError) which then contained a IGrouping(Of String, RSError) for each grouped collection of objects returned by the query. However I ended up with the current object type of errors as IOrderedQueryable(Of IGrouping(Of String, RSError)) because of the cast error I am getting in VS.
[code]...
I'm not sure how to get rid of the VB$AnonymousType_1 Part of the returned object.Am I even on the right track here or am I missing something completely?
I want to make a search form the user completes the 3 textboxes and 2 datetimepickers. (so five components).
Also I have a button called search and a datagridview.
When the user presses the search button it searches into those 2 tables (depending on what user typed in the 3 textboxes and selected on 2 datetimepickers).
Example of search:
The user searches like this:
When it presses the search button the results will be stored in datagridview(first textbox is the field DB-20-RTS from table PatrimoniuMasini and the rest are fields from the specified columns (name of labels) from the second table FoaieParcursMasina -is the second row from this second table).
Here's the code in my search button (don't know how I can store the 5 things(2 datetimepickers and 3 textboxes in the DataGridView) . My problem is in understanding the property item of DataGridView(DataGridView1):
Dim conexiune As SqlConnection 'conexiune cu sql server Dim comandasql As SqlCommand 'cerere -interogare sql Dim msg As String ' msg- variabila dk suntem conectati sau nu
I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view.
Public Function FindAllSpaces() Implements ISpaceRepository.FindAllSpaces Dim query = _ From s In db.spaces _ Order By s.name Ascending _
[code]....
The controller is taking the query object as is and putting it into the viewdata.model and as stated the view is not currently strongly typed as I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I have run the query successfully in linqpad.
I have two text box(Start Value and End Value), one datagridview and a search button SQL script= Select id, ContactName from Customers where id between 1 and 5 I want a scenario where when I enter the start value 1 and end value 5 and click the search button it will run the above query and display the result in the datagrid view.
I am coding a program that will allow the user to input 5 payrolls for Store 1, Store 2, and Store 3. The total of the 5 payrolls are then added together and shown in the respective Store's labels. A total label is also there to add up all the totals into one number. The numbers in the label must be in currency form. My problem is the numbers don't add correctly when I hit calculate. The first two numbers add together, but then after that the number just seems to subtract a random amount.
So far I have this --
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Me.Close() End Sub
I try to show my table data type in datagridview vb.net.[code]I try login using username "system". When I run this code, I got error message "ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement".
I managed to do ASP.NET authentication work wih AD. Now, I want to query an OU in AD and display the result either ListView or GridView in ASP.NET page.[code]In the organizational unit (OU) UsersStudents there are following columns:First Name, Last Name, Pre-Windows 2000 Logon Name, Name , Type. I want to query column First Name, Last Name, Pre-Windows 2000 Logon Name in OU UsersStudents and bind the result to ListView or GridView.
Dim assSummary = From a In db.Assignments Join ur In db.UserRegions On a.Origin.ID Equals ur.Region.ID
[code]....
In the controller I can return the data easily as follows:
For Each c In assSummary MsgBox(c.Description & " " & c.AssCount) Next
If I pass the object through to the view using Viewdata("assSummary") = assSummary, how do I display the data? Every method I've tried results in messages about 'VB$AnonymousType_7(Of Integer,String) and I don't know how to retrieve the data from the anonymous type.
I use visual basic 2010 professional edition. I am working on a project on it with access on the backhand. i want to view the data in datagrid control for the stock management. I also want to setup a query in the query builder which will search the database according to the ID but i cant get it right i dont know why. i type in the form filter this: LIKE @ID + '%'. But when i click somewhere else, an error appears which says: Data type error in expression.
What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database. When I try to save:
I have an application that allows users to bid on items that are put up in an online silent auction type of deal. Currently, When a user clicks submitBidButton, the application stores the bid in the database, and then updates the price. Sounds simple? It was.. until it got popular. If there is a bidding war on the page, my application, and SQL database start crying.. literally.
About consuming the data with jquery/JSON.. and WebMethod. It works like a champ. BUT. How can I take advantage of Caching to increase the performance of my application? SQL Caching? Asp.NET Caching?
Each member places a bid, and I want to add a ajax timer that calls back to the server every .5 seconds to see if a user has placed another bid. The app was built in vb.net.
i know that integer is a variable to store whole numbers and that a string is a varialbe used to store any text, but what variable type would you use to store a number that has decimals?
I have 2 dll files from a third party, and they have the same name (v7 and v8). My program needs to be able to use both of these dll's (meaning wether the enduser has a lisence for v7 or v8 of the thirdparty dll, they can still use the program). But I am stopped from referencing both of them as they have the same name. How do I resolve this? Searched the web and found info about sn.exe and strong names, but can't find a good explanation of how this works. Anyone?
I have a function GetAllProducts() which fetches all products from a database and stores it in the cache for future requests. This works fine, but if I then call the function e.g. ProductSearchResults = GetAllProducts(), and then modify ProductSearchResults variable, this also modifies the cache, which is very important this never happens, as the cache affects the whole website.
I understand this is because both ProductSearchResults and the cache now have the same reference, but how do I solve the problem? Is there something that I can put in GetAllProducts() to ensure the cache always uses its own value?
If you build and deploy UserControls, Components etc do you give them strong names and put them in the GAC or do you simply place them in the same folder as the executable?I've made a component that will be given to other developers and they will, in turn, deploy it with their own applications. If I give my component a strong name and install it into the developer's GAC then I assume that the developer using my component will also need to place it in 'his' customer's CAG when he deploys his own application containing my component.
