I have been using vb6 for a while, I am following a tutorial by MS to develop a basic application and a simple task cannot be completed for whatever reasons! The tutorial asks to drag the label object from the toolbox and drop in the tab control container. Then, go to the label size property and adjust the size to some different dimansion. Basic stuff, right? It won't let me do it! After I enter the new dimensions (which by the way are not large or very small), the label size (both width and height) resets back to its original dimensions! I have the vb.net sp1 installed.

View 2 RepliesI am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array. In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. Why does it take too much time in vb.net for same work?Code is given below, here Led is the label control array.
For l = 1 To 3000
Led.Load(ledCounter)
ColLed.Add(Led(ledCounter))

I'm trying to make a label control transparent over a Panel control. However by setting the background colour of the label to Transparent, it actually sees right through to the form itself, not the panel as intended.
As an example we use a panel with a background as white, we make the label transparent, however it gets the forms colour as blue. However, we are using a custom panel control and need the label to be transparent over the panel and not see the forms background.
I am using two user controls in my web application. I want to read a Label text from a user control via another user control. How can i read it?

I have about 60 lablecontrols on a form of wich the text is continuosly changing (using a timer at 100ms for it). I see that the cpu usage goes to about 50%. I must use lables or textboxes i can not use a datagridview or table for this because the lables are placed at rondom places and not in a uniform manner. If i use about 10 label controls then i dont se that high usage.
Can someone explain why the cpu goes up so high? and how to get it lower?
How can I set a label control, which is set to autosize, to different fixed length during runtime? (The maximumsize.width seems to be a rad-only property)

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to center a label in my control, but it won't work! I can position it in the designer so that its in the center, but when I try to change the text in the label while its running it doesn't re-center. For example I have my label with the text 'Untitled' i then have a button which inserts text from a textbox on the same form. So 'Label1.Text = textbox1.text'. The problem is, when the new text is longer than the old text, the textbox is no longer centred and the text just goes over the edge of the page. How can I make the text in the label centered always?

I'm trying to display a few words in a label control aligned right. I've tried setting the text alignment to TopRight / MiddleRight etc. but nothing seems to work and the text is always displayed left-to-right. How do I display text from right-to-left, like MS Word's "Align Right" feature?

I am working on a form with several databound textboxes, each with its own label to identify it. I would like for the label to enable/disable based on code logic. I see the label properties in design mode, but cannot access the label properties in code. The intellisense tells me my label name is not declared. Am I not able to access label properties as in vb6 or the same as a textbox?
I've been working at this for hours, and I'm completely stumped. There may be a more elegant way to do what I want, but I can't find it in my reference books or online. I have a form that has 64 labels corresponding to 64 unique locations on a map. Each of the labels contains one character, a ●. The program determines, randomly, if these is something in those locations.'m using a For... next loop to step through each location and determine if there is something there. My question is how do I turn off the label in the form without resorting to some 64 choice Select Case statement (or something similar).

View 1 RepliesI have a DataList inside a DataList that causes my page to lose the controls. The page works and there are no errors, but my label is never found! This is odd because the label shows on the aspx page, it just doesn't remove the 2 items that I want it to remove. When debugging, it skips over the If statement altogether:
If lbl IsNot Nothing Then
If lbl.Text = "Self Directed" Or lbl.Text = "Systems" Then
lbl.Visible = False
[Code]....
This will only hide the text for "Systems", I have gone through each label in that particular question and each has hidden itself. This code does work on another page so I know that Self Directed is exactly how it is capitalized. I even copied and pasted from the database and it still wouldn't hide.
how to have multiple fonts on the same label control?

i am trying to figure out how to go about finding this window's label when the control name is the same as all the other labels on the program.[code]All 3 labels are named the same. The one i am most interested in is a progress % counter (1%, 2%, 3%, etc..)How can i get the value (using a timer of course) from that label without knowing the caption of it at any given time??
View 2 RepliesI've in my program label+panel+image_control The label size varies according to the included data and I've to show it programatically as soon as the user move the cursor over the image (using the mousemove event), but unfortunately the label seems to be unstable as it appears in different locations in my form & sometimes hanging although i specify the location to appear in.How show the frame in front of the panel even though the frame sometimes may cross the limits of the panel control?

View 1 RepliesI am converting a 1.1 .NET web app to 3.5, and I've run into a bit of a jam.
One web control has a Property that sets the page title label on that web control.
End Property
When a page with the web control was loaded before, it would set the Property to a given string, like in ucHeader.PageTitle = "This is a string." Now, if I don't remove the lblPageTitle.Text = Value, I get a NullReference Exception.
I have an array of labels on my form which are all named "lblLabel1" thru "lblLabel9", but I want to be able to take a users numeric input (lets say 3), and display the 3 on lblLabel1, then I need it to increment by one all the way to lblLabel9. How can I do this? I was thinking a loop so this is what I came up with, but it didn't work:
For b As Integer = 0 To 8
lblLabel(b).Text = String.Concat(intSomething, "+", intAnother, "=")
Next
'Where b = the label number (I know it's zero based, I would change it later)
