I would like to create a program that could; open a website, log on to my account, scan a page for links, and open those links. The ultimate goal would be to reduce time spent checking things like e-mail or MySpace.
View 1 RepliesI am attempting to scan in multiple pages from an ADF on a variety if scanners (Mostly MFC's). I have been fighting this for about a week with not much success. I do have it working under twain, however, each page is a separate tif file. I would like to use WIA and have them combined. I found some code, but it was written in a previous version and generates an error when I run it in 2010.The error is :Value does not fall within the expected range. This is the first part of the code for selecting the wia device. It seems to be working ok.

I recently found the benifits of using the WIA APIs for scanning a page from a scanner. However, I am unable to get the scanned images from an ADF. I am using a Brother MFC Multi function printer that has an ADF on top. When I call the Transer() function, the printer scans all the pages...and then the program saves the returned image to a file, but when I open the image file up....only the last scanned page is there. How to scan multiple pages, and receive all the scanned images, from an ADF?
View 7 RepliesI have an interesting issue that a client reported It turns out that the desktop application they are using is changing the times returned by the web service to their local time so it looks like the data is off. We're in UTC-5 while they're in UTC-8 so 8:00 AM is returned to the GUI as 5:00 AM which is causing confusion. I've done this riddiculousness to get around it for now:

My boss has given me an asp.net web application that was done by his former employee. Now my boss has no contact with that employee. He wants me to make some changes in that web application. I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. It has many asp pages, aspx pages, jsp pages, xml pages, css pages, etc... How to understand other person or team's website or web application that was written in asp or asp.net and vb or vb.net?

My wife wants me to create a cookbook application for her. I am going to use this as a learning experience (Otherwise, I would just buy her one).
The main requirements are that she can store her recipes thier ingredients and the steps involved in this SQL server driven program. She also wants to be able to view and print any recipe she chooses.
My question is how do I display the recipe in its complete form? I do not know how to use crystal reports, and automating Word is too time/resource consuming. So what are my options in VB 2008?
i need to reduce an amount of time by x% this is what i have so far [code] as u can see ive taken the hours minutes seconds from the time and stored each in a seperate variable so from 02:30:00 i then divided the hours by 60 and then 60 again to give me the total seconds in the hours and then divided the minutes by 60. i then added all 3 to give the total amount of seconds so now the buildtimetotal variable now holds the total in seconds i now need to reducce this by x% all vars are dimentioned as integers except for buildtimehoursback which is a double the problem seems to be when i try to convert the total seconds back to hours minutes seconds.

I have noticed that the CPU utilisation during the full minute is less than 20%
is there a way to force the application to use more cpu to reduce the calculation time?

The number of DLLs used as references is so huge (almost 50) that when I try to build/debug the application in VS2008, it takes almost 3-4 minutes to get the website running successfully.
Wanted to know if there are any settings/areas which upon some modifications can help me reduce the build time? and what exactly can be the major reasons behind this long loading duration?
I have a question regarding clicking a button on a web page through the web browser control in VB .Net Express Edition.I have figured out quite a few tricks and stuff with the web browser control but I can't figure out how to automatically click a button. I know I can invoke the 1st instance of a "submit" type button but I want to click the 3rd instance (or chose which ever one I want).Unfortunately the button declarations in the HTML don't have ID or NAME tags to make it easy to pick them.How would I go about extracting all the buttons on a form in an array form, so I could invoke a certain member of that array and click a button of my choosing.

I wrote a password storage app that uses cryptography to store password and user info. Each time I start the app either in the IDE or from Windows it attempts to connect to the internet. It is not supposed to connect to anything except a local Access mdb file. Nothing in the app has any need to access the internet. If I disallow the connection thru my firewall, I get the following exception:

View 1 RepliesI have a small web browser application I wrote in VB.NET that is specific to it's use. To set it up, I have to setup port forwarding. Is there any way I can write another .NET app that runs on my dedicated server, accepts an incoming connection from my home PC that sits there. Then any other incoming connection from the outside world can then be connected to my home pc through the app on the dedicated server? If there is a term for this sort of process or program, I do not know what it is.

I have an internet available SQL Server 2008 R2 instance that is running normally. Clients connect over the internet from vs 2005 and 2010 desktop applications, without issue. My scan gun application can connect to the local instance (if I'm in my office) but not to the internet instance from my Windows Mobile 5.0 scanning device. Connect string = user id=[Code]. This connection string works fine for the desktop apps. It's not a port issue, I have all the correct ports open.

I really really need to understand why my own server "KARIMOV-PC" doesn't work as a remote SQL Server although the SQL Remote Connections and SQL Browser r enabled and running? And Why .\SQLEXPRESS is the more needed/required although I log in to SQL with Windows Authentication, but not SQL Authentication??
i m currently working on application that has to monitor temperature and humidity of a particular place and constantly report the same to the user over internet. So far, I m using LPC1768 and its ethernet module collect the data, process it and send it to the router. On the other side, i have a computer which is connected to the same router and running a VB application where the data is mined and reported in a excel.
This setup works just fine. Now, i want to monitor the same data over internet. How can i do the same?

I have tried turning off windows firewall and that doesn't make any difference.
