IDE :: DataGridView Sort With Total Line?

I'm moving code from using MSFlexGrid to DataGridView.My programming approach is to leave the total line in the last row of the grid. I prefer not to change this. I successfully handled this with MSFlexGrid by turning off the automatic sort and invoking a manual sort when the header row was clicked. I was able to select the cells I wanted affected by the sort. I selected all cells but the final row and then did MSFlexGrid1.sort. This worked.I have read up on the DataGridView sort. I can make my grids sort and I can turn-off automatic sorting and can force a sort programatically. I have NOT been able to do a sort in a manner that excludes the last row.

I am suppose to only Find the total of each column in the last row. Find the grand total in the last cell (the bottom right corner)Ok i have tried to do the grandtotal but i am not getting what she wants done I have also tried to reverse the arrays but that was wrong to. I am only suppose to add two line one line is find the total of each colums in the last row and to find the grandtotal.

i have lines like this

Let say the columns that i highlighted is X and Y. I have to arrange the small Y first which is -10000 then arrage big Y which -11000 then arrange again samall Y followed by big Y. Here i only have -10000 and -11000. but let say i also have -12000 so i have to arrange -10000 first then -11000 then -12000. But i also have to look at X column. If let say x value is same next line so it should side by side like i higlighted the two row.
the lines should be identified by [B3] as it will be one group. Can we use IComparer methode here? How to arrange the lines in order thet i want?

From the above line I have to look the last word MIL. Then I need to arrange the line in ascending orders according to 30MIL,50MIL, 75MIL and 100MIL. Can I use IComparer? Because here I dont know how I can reach the word MIL and sort.

I am developing a program where i will download and save an xml file from a url as abc.xml. I have a DataGridView.DataSource set to a Collection of custom objects. The columns use read only properties from the custom object for display, this dialog is for display only. The properties all return String objects. I set the columns all but 2 of them to sortmode automatic (the ones that are not set is a button or a checkbox). Yet it does not sort. I have googled around and most people use sql or binding sources but I am using a trivial vb collection. Some say I should implement IComparable but isn't String already IComparable?
Per a request here are some code snippets.
This method defines the columns in detail from columns I designed in the designer.
The column names are called pSelected or pCustomer and corresponds with a property by the same name that the column definition ties to.

The pay rates for the project are:
a. Level 1 - $10.00
b. Level 2 - $12.00
c. Level 3 - $14.00
d. Level 4 - $16.00
e. Benefit Deduction Rate - 0.10
f. Overtime Factor - 1.5
For ease of program maintenance, all of the above rates and factors must be stored in module level constants. All references to pay rates in the program must refer to the module level constants.
When the Calculate button is clicked:
a. The value in the Hours text box must be validated to insure that it is numeric value greater than zero.
1. If the value is not valid, a message box must appear as shown below and the user must be offered the option to continue processing or quit the program.
2. If the user chooses to continue processing, the focus must be set to the Hours text box.
3. If the user chooses to quit, the program must close immediately.
b. If the value is valid, the program must calculate and display the total pay in the Total Pay label.
1. The pay rate is determined by which Job Grade radio button is checked.
2. For hours less than or equal to 40, the total pay is the hours times the pay rate.
3. For hours greater than 40, the total pay is 40 hours times the pay rate plus the hours in excess of 40 hours times the pay rate times the Overtime Factor.
4. If the Full Time radio button is selected, the total pay must be reduced by the Benefit Deduction Rate.
5. The value displayed in the Total Pay label must be formatted with a dollar sign and with two decimal
places.
6. The focus must be set to the Hours text box.

I am working with VB 2008. I want to be able to run this program say in N: and it will show me in an excel sheet the following:
Folder Path Size(GB) Count of Files
N:Clients 0.53 308
where clients contains subfolders and files and the size is the total of all those files within each folder and the count is the total within each folder also.
This works fine as it is but i have to select one by one the top level folders and some of them are huge so it takes forever to give me an answer.
1) I would like to see in my spreadsheet the following by only select the network drive n:
Folder Path Size(GB) Count of Files
N:Clients 0.53 308
N:Software 10.7 15430
N:Billing 0.98 105
2) I would also like to know if this is the faster method.
3) I tried adding a progress bar so that the user can have an idea of how much this will take but i had to remove because it was not working.
4) I would like to see the folder name, size of folder and count of files in the listview.

I am using VB.NET 2008 My DataGridView is bound to a DataSet. After adding a DataGridView row (from another form), I needed to sort the DataGridView in order to put the new row in the appropriate place. I needed to be able to identify the current sort column and the current sort direction (ascending/descending) but I was unable to find out how to obtain that information from the DataGridView properties. Consequently I had to do it the hard way via my own coding. The sort column name (or names) and the sort direction then became available to my program in the global variables.
