Sort Not Working Datagridview Gives "DataGridView Control Must Be Bound To An IBindingList Object To Be Sorted?

I have a few classes, one is a form, the other is the source of the datagridview. I want to be able to sort the columns of the datagridview by clicking on the header. Here are the classes that I am dealing with:

Public Class ViewDiscoveryFlashCards
Private DBBindingSource As New BindingSource

I'm calling a webservice using the async method, and catching the response with the completed event. When I first open the form, it all runs fine, however the second time I run the form I get the above error when attempting to sort the data.
Strangely, if I comment out the sorting code, it loads perfectly, and I can manually sort the dgv by clicking on the columns.
Code:Private WithEvents Tempws As ws.wsPrivate ID As Integer
Public Sub New(ByVal ID As Integer)
' This call is required by the Windows Form Designer. InitializeComponent()

What I am trying to do is sort a datagridview and remove a row from its sorted position to the 1st row.
The problem I am experiencing is as follows:
in the source below, when the code runs "MeanRow" is populated with what is required. As soon as Rows.Remove() executes, the MeanRow datarow is lost. Why would this be if I'm declaring a new variable and simply setting it?
Code:
MeanRow = r
TabGrid(dgv.Name).Datatable.Rows.Remove(r)
Code:
Private Sub dgv_Sorted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim MeanRow As DataRow
[Code].....

I have been experimenting with datagridview by designing a bill tracking program. The first challenge I haven't been able to solve myself is how to sort it. I managed to figure out how to save and update from xml but I don't know how to put it in any particular order. Is this possible with it bound, or would I need to write particular code to custom-fill in the date grid? All I am looking for is an a-z sort.

I've got a DataGridView that has a DataTable as it's Datasource. Whenever I sort a column and then edit a cell, after editing the column, the column autosorts so the recently edited cell is no longer in the viewable area. Is there any way to prevent this auto sort from happening and only sort when I click on the columns?

I have two datagridview's both are databound. First one shows items for sale and the second stores all the items that were sold. I am trying too transfer selected rows from one to the other but no matter what I keep getting told "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound."

Alright I have a DataGridView, where the user can click on the column headers to sort. When they add a new row while a sort is applied, the record isn't created until the moment they validate the row(which they cannot do till they exit the newRow). How can I make the row be selected once it is sorted?The DataGridView is databound.The selection mode for the grid is full row.I'm using VB.NET with SQLite database backend.I suspect I need to use the RowsAdded event, or DataBindingComplete events. The records in question do have a unique GUID attached but it is NOT visible in the DataGridView.

I'm working with datagridview.I found an example on the web about creating a datagridview: firs I make my array containing data, then I make a datatable from array, then I make datagridview from datatable.I don't know if it's the correct way but it seems work.In a column I make random numbers for test: for example I have on column "Time" these values: 1155, 1725, 584, 996, 1352.Then I try to sort with code when I press pushbutton: it doesn't work because I have the values:1155, 1352, 1725, 1758 (until now it seems to work correctly), but then I have 584 and 996 values: wrong!Ok, let's try with the manual sorting: same result.I filled cells with "integer" values, let's try using strings, then I used "value.tostring" same result.I also tryed to fill strings with blankspaces to obtain same length, but nothing changed. "1155", "1352", "1725", "1758", " 584", " 996".Then I tryed to fill with "0" values:"1155", "1352", "1725", "1758", "0584", "0996".The same.How can I fill cells values?

I'd like to have an updateable DataGridView that's bound to a database-driven business object. It needs to handle all aspects of CRUD and be sortable and filterable as well.
Most of them simply bind to an object (non-database, manually filled) and do not allow you to Add, Delete, and Edit records. Furthermore, they basically never show how you would perform sorting and filtering.
I think the biggest things I'm not understanding are:
1) How do you make the DataGridView perform additions, deletions, and edits on an object.
2) How do you program your object to handle additions, deletions, and edits. Do you just need methods that use ADO.Net, NHibernate, or Linq to SQL (or any other CRUD handling mechanism)?
3) How to make this filterable and sortable.
Is this overly difficult to do or why am I have so much trouble finding examples for this?

I have a DataGridView object to which I've bound a list of objects (of type Asset) returned from a database query.I'm programming in VB using Visual Studio 2005.I want to grab two copies of the bound object (calling them oldAsset and newAsset) from the selected row in the DataGridView, update newAsset based on input from other controls on the form, and pass both oldAsset and newAsset to a function that will update the appropriate record in the DB.I try to grab the two copies like this:
Dim currentRow As DataGridViewRow = Me.AssetDataGridView.CurrentRow
Dim newAsset As Asset
newAsset = currentRow.DataBoundItem
[code]....
Opening a watch window on oldAsset and newAsset indicates that the appropriate values are pulled at this point. But when I try to change a property of just newAsset, like
newAsset.CurrentLocationID = cboLocations.SelectedValue
I see that the corresponding value in oldAsset is also changed. This is not what I want, but it's obviously what I'm telling the computer to do.

I am using VB 2010, .NET Framework 4.0 and am currently loading an unbound datagridview control from an object. Once I've added all the rows, I want to automatically resort the rows based on the values in the first column, which is a textbox column.
If I click on the column header, the sort works. However, I want the sort to automatically take place once the grid is loaded without clicking the column heading to sort. This would also apply if I add a new row to the grid - I want the grid to resort automatically after the row is added, to display the row in the right spot without clicking the column heading.

with more control over changing values in a data bound DataGridView.On form load, all the data is pulled down from the attached database and fills the gridIf I want to change one of the values in the grid, I can put my mouse cursor in the cell, change the entry and save it back to the database.

I am using the following code to load a file into my program, everything works fine. When I open a new file everything works fine unless I have this line inserted:
Me.BindingSource4.Sort= "NewDateSold Desc"
That line works unless I open a new file while in the same instance of the program running. The I receive the following error:
Sort string contains a property that is not in the IBindingList.
File Open Code
Private Sub OpenToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OpenToolStripMenuItem.Click
OpenFileDialog1.InitialDirectory = "c:"
OpenFileDialog1.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt|CSV Files (*.csv)|*.csv"
[Code] .....
I am really confused since everything works properly if I comment out the
Me.BindingSource4.Sort = "NewDateSold Desc"

I have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...
My Code
,
Dim dtParm As DataTable = MyDataSet.tblParameter
Dim dgv As DataGridView = Me.dgvResultNum_DataGrid

I have a datagridview named "DG" bound to a datatable. The grid has one column that requires me to determine its value, so the grid has the virtual mode property set to true.When i try to add using the dg.rows.add, i get a message saying 'operation not valid while in virtual mode'.If i set the virtual mode to false and execute the dg.rows.add line i get."Rows cannot be programatically added to the datagrid's rows collection when the control is databound"Ok....i cannot use rows.add when in virtual mode,.....and i cannot use rows.add when i am in data-bound mode.So then next thing i try is ctype(dg.datasource,datatable).rows.add , This gets the row into both the underlying table as well as the into a new row located at the bottom of the grid.
I try this: dg.sort(dg.columns("Row"),ascending) and get this "Operation is not supported when VirtualMode is set to true." i try seting virtual mode to false and get this: "Data-bound DataGridView control can only be sorted on data-bound columns."The column "Row" IS a column in the underlying table.If i click on the column header it sorts correctly.All i want to do is add arow and have it be located in the correct place in the sort order.

I have a DataGridView that is bound to a DataSet and I allow someone to remove a row from the table and I remove the row from the set. My code looks like this:
ds.Tables(0).Rows(dgCourseList.SelectedRows(0).Index).Delete()
My problem I found is if the grid gets sorted the index of the rows no longer corresponds to the indexes in the DataSet. As a result the wrong rows get removed from the set.
Can I solve this problem with maybe having to sort the DataSet on some sort event of the DataGridView?

Can anyone tell me why "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound." I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.

I have bound an array of a class with 3 public strings.
When I run the form app and in the form load call I bind the array to the DGV all works fine and the DGV is fully populated. However, if I change an item in the array I had expected it to change in the DGV.. it doesn't. Or rather, it only updates if I click on the cell that should have changed.

I have a datagridview bound to a table adapter. It displays data just fine. Part of this data is a comments field. When a user wishes to edit this I open a seperate form with the data in a a text box. After the user edits this text, how do I update the database / datagridview?
I can update the datagridview cell's value but that doesn't propagate to the database until the focus is removed from the row. I tried BeginEdit and then EndEdit (which should commit) but apparently it needs to move to another row!
