The Problem is, When i becomes 2, Table Data also becomes "q", Why....?
I've VB.NET function that reads data from an Excel sheet and adds rows in a Datatable.

I am working in vb2008. Is there a simple way to clone the contents of a datarow in a datatable into a new datarow instance that can be added elsewhere in the table. Can I create a new instance of a datarow and set it equal to an existing datarow?
View 5 RepliesSee the code below which is triggered on a datagridview row validation event where the datagridview datasource is a datatable.
The messagebox shows that it loops around as expected populating the datarow with the expected values (NOTE: There are no primary keys as this is a college assignment with specific requirement and all fields can be nullable).
I had to use ImportRows as AddRows would always error due to "This row belongs to another table" the odd thing was the values were different and again the table contains no primary keys.
The code below runs but never adds a datarow to the dataset datatable "Bookings", does anyone know what the problem might be?

The code works fine.But in the above code as you can see that i am printing the each rows content of the datatable one by one and after printing all the contents of a single row i am looping the code again for printing each and every row present in the datatable. So i want to know that inspite of printing each and every data present in the row of the datatable,is it possible to print the entire datarow at a time and then loop through all the rows present in the datatable?

I have an application where I would like to allow the user to change one field in a datatable but leave the other ones uneditable. I am using a datagridview to do this but I can only make the whole table editable or not. The result should be an order form where you have a determined product and should only be able to change the number of items.

I have a dynamic query which returns a DataTable. This DataTable will contain a varying number of columns depending on the selection used in the query. I want an efficient way of filtering the records in the DataTable.
For Example The DataTable contains columns : A, B, C and D
I need to query this data at serveral points in my program. At some point I may need records where A=10 and C>40. At another point I may need records where A<10 and D=90 etc.etc. The selects are dymanmic, I do not now what Columns or values are needed until the code is executing.
I could simply use a DataTable Filter and build the selection string dynamically. I have no problem with this. However I was wondering if using LINQ would be more applicable. I am completely new to LINQ and would like to use it but don't know its capabilities.
(At present I am using a DataTable but in future this may change to a collection of Objects)
I have some code from this site CodeProjectLink to convert a datatable to a recordset. This code had been working fine until I changed to .NET 4 (was previously 2), now when I call the following line:

I tried changing my line to just:
resultFields.Append(inColumn.ColumnName, TranslateType(inColumn.DataType))
But this gave the same error. The TranslateType function is correctly returning ADODB.DataTypeEnum.adVarChar so this seems valid as well
Basically what I want to do is, say after I've filled my datatable(whichever fill method i used[dataadapter.fill; or datatable.load(reader)]), now the datatable has the fields i've selected albeit, "Select * from" or "Select field1, field3 from" - either way the table now has my fields. Later incode when i'm ready to access them, say "dt.rows(x)(" OR "dt.rows(x)!", right here I would like intelisense to show me the available fields for that table. I already have my clsDataTable that inherits DataTable.

With the following code, I'd expect to get the array elements back that I put in. Instead, the last array element, is output three times.e workaround would be to dimension the array explicitly to hold four strings, but I used this contruct all over my VBA code and I'd rather know why it doesn't do what I expect.

I have a function that converts a .csv file to a datatable. One of the columns I am converting is is a field of names that have a comma in them i.e. "Doe, John" when converting the function treats this as 2 seperate fields because of the comma. I have an app that contains a DataTable that I must summarize. In that table is a Status column (also the index order) and I want to write a loop in which I compute the count for each status. So I wrote my loop and tried to use the compute function of the Datatable class, but I cannot get it working due to some constraints - specifically this...

You can see what I am doing here is grabbing the string value of the Status column, and then trying to get a count of how many records have that Status. My ultimate goal was to cycle the Table and count each time the status changes. But the error I get has to do with where I store the Status in a String, and then issue the second parameter on the Compute function which contains a variable (sumString) and this is where Compute is crashing - and of course, I can see why - my Status is not literal and thus not in quotes.
Generally speaking, is there any way to manage this kind of thing? In my (very) old FoxPro days one would use a macro such as "Status = &sumString" and VFP would translate sumString to its literal. I have never discovered a way to do that in .NET.
