I've installed Mic Visual Studio 2008 few days ago. At first, Mic Visual Basic functions very well. But now, i can only open the program, but not the form. When I wants to Open>New Project, something pops out shows that "No Visual Basic Template can be found. See the Application Log in EventViewer for more details."
View 5 RepliesI am working on a project where I need to open microsoft word documents in a form with a panel (the document will be put into a panel).I found the code to try and use API, it would not recognize the file names (yes they are valid filenames).Tried a whole bunch of stuff. Here is my current incarnation:

It ALWAYS starts the word document in its own window and will not redirect it to my own program.I tried to redirect the output and it gave me a message that it was not a valid win32 application.
How can I make it so when I click a command button It will open up Microsoft Windows XP Paint??
View 3 RepliesI am attempting to add code to an existing script that will add the log messages to the log txt file in order to determine which loops are running in the script. But all I get is either a blank log file or only one line which I believe is the last loop that ran and not a concatination of the loops that ran which I know is more than one.
How do I create a log file that will continualy grow?
These log calls are placed in each of my loops (I am just showing 2 as an example.)

I am building a VB 2008 Express Edition application.I have built a database (with a single table) using SQL Server Compact 3.5 and have connected it to the project. I am able to view and edit the data using a DataGridView on a second form (tutorial made this very easy). I need to work with the data in the table within the application. how to easily load the entire table into an array or even read the table a row or cell at a time so that I can make all of the data available for manipulation within the application (the tutorials only seem to show how to display the data).

View 1 RepliesBackground: I have an application that loads marketing companies into a drop down list if the currently logged in user is a member of that marketing group in active directory. The Group ACOMP_USER_BIG is compared to MarketingCompanyShortName Big in the database records via a web service. Problem: I have 3 Newly added AD Groups that won't load in production but load fine in the drop down on my local dev server. The deployment guy already tried doing an IISReset and that didnt fix the issue. All the AD groups have read access only and no write access. We need to find out more information on why the marketing company AD groups are not loading. How do I get the groups to load correctly or prove that the problem is not a programming issue and a deployment or AD issue? H*ere's the VB.NET Code behind that populates the marketing company drop down list.

I have a WinForms application that I have taken over support for and it was build using Visual Studio 2005 with VB.Net. The application makes use of an Access database. It runs fine when it is installed as a standalone application, but the install cd for the application also allows for a network install and this is where I am currently encountering issues.
To test the network install I created a folder on my server (Windows Server 2003 SP2) and copied the Access database to this folder. I created a share for this folder and gave everyone full permissions to the share. Then on the workstation I installed the application and gave the path to the database as follows:
\myservermysharemydb.mdb
(The install steps here are as per the instructions given on the installation cd)The workstation that I installed it on is Windows 7 Ultimate. When I run the application, I get the error message given in the title when the application tries to read the database file. I have confirmed that I am able to write to the shared folder on the server, so I don't think this is a permissions issue. Also, the database file is not in use at all, so it is definitely not opened exclusively.
UPDATE:I have tested the workstation installation on a computer with a fresh install of Windows XP SP3 and it is able to access the database file without a problem. So it seems that this error that I am getting is somehow specific to Windows 7. Is there maybe a known issue with Oledb drivers on Windows 7? My version of Windows 7, btw is 32 bit.

View 5 RepliesI am using Visual studio express 2008. I was working on a VB project for a few hours. Then I did something,(I think I just double clicked the form ) and I cannot open it in design mode. By Design mode I mean so you can see the controls, and ad buttons and stuff. The form still runs, if I run it. I see the form in the Solution explorer. From solution explorer, if I show all Files , then open FrmMain.Designer.vb, I can see my code. If I go to the project menu item and insert New Windows Form the new form works like I expect it too, I can see it. I need to be able to see my form.
